Contigo is a Spanish word meaning 'With you'. For generations, the goal of Contigo has been to create an uncompromising atmosphere of quality and care where people and nature come together. Our ten modern cottages combine classic architecture with contemporary design. Our three hand hewn historic log cabins date back to the 1800's. The two historic rock cabins are original to the ranch. Our variety of rooms and suites can accommodate all tastes and styles. So kick off your boots - or your dress shoes - and stay awhile.

W had the opportunity to stay at Contigo Ranch for a family birthday party. The experience was great. The property was pristine, the unit very clean and well appointed, the breakfast was great and the price very competitive. If you need a place to host an event such as wedding, anniversary or just stay in the Fredericksburg area, I would highly recommend this getaway.

We stayed in cabin #4. I wish I could purchase it for a little vacation home! A darling stone cabin with just the right amenities and interior design. It was so nice and quiet. The breakfast every morning was just enough to satisfy. A great place for a romantic getaway. Close to the town of Fredericksburg and lots of other cute little towns in the Hill Country, like Kerrville and Comfort.

I made a reservation and cancellation the SAME day via booking.com for two cabins at Contigo. The policy clearly specifies FREE cancellation and only 50% deposit. Contigo Ranch charged the full amount on my cc of $1900.00 and when I contacted them to get my money back they were extremely upset because I shouldn’t make cancellations and forbid me to book with them in the future. Be aware of their business practice. Now I have to wait 7-15 days to get a full refund which shouldn’t have been placed in the first place.

We got there around 8 pm, after spending a nice day at the vineyards and town, and then we found out that we needed a code to enter the room, which we did not have and never received from the property! There is no reception, almost no signal, we tried to call the website phone number and no one was picking up, there is only a voice message asking you to send an email (!!!) with your question. After 2 hours trying to contact someone to get the code without success, we went back to town (almost 30 min drive) to try to found another hotel to spend the night. I’ve never seen a place with NO ASSISTANCE at all to the guests. When they finally replied my email, and I asked for reimbursement of the amount, they said that they would pass the information to the manager on Monday. It was my birthday and was very upsetting. Do not waste your time here

Great scenery for a wedding, just be prepared for the staff to close up at their time without warning. The reception following a wedding the bar was shut down at 9 and they shut off the music in a middle of a song without warning. The fridge provided for alcohol was locked up and no way back in. Kinda rude...
Don't have a reception there.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us as a wedding guest. Our contracted wedding couples have a very specific timeline to follow, provided by their wedding coordinator. Contigo does not handle wedding music, et cetera. We'd be grateful if you could share helpful information with our General Manager at info@contigoranch.com. Warm regards, Contigo Ranch Fredericksburg

My husband and I absoultely enjoyed our stay at the Contigo Ranch. The drive in was a little scary due to our GPS taking us to Ranch Rd 1323. There was livestock loose on roads and the roads were very narrow. I suggest taking 290 W then Hwy 16 to Ranch Road 965 the next time. Was much more comfortable. The scenery was so beautiful driving in. The hills were stunning.. The drive is about 20 minutes from the historic downtown area, but the drive is refreshing. We stayed in cottage 10. The room was very nice and clean. The king size bed was very comfy and the pillows felt like marshmallows...lol.There wasn't a bathtub but the shower was very refreshing...nice towels too!!! The modern feel of the cottage made us feel like we were at home. We had a balcony on the second floor, which made us feel comfortable sitting outside at night, watching the stars.. The balcony faced a hillside, very beautiful ..I was able to meditate and reconnect with not only my husband but my spirtual being. It was so serene on the property. Breakfast was delivered every morning at 8am.. It was brought in a nice tote with some refreshing goodies inside..We went to the historic downtown area to shop, eat and explore....the Enchanted Rock park was a few miles from the ranch...My husband and I really enjoyed the ranch and planning another trip there soon...

There are two types of units here - cabins and cottages. Unfortunately it's hard to rate Contigo Ranch fairly because we had very different experiences in the two types of units.

We started our two night stay in a cabin (#4), which is a restored historical building. It seems that the restoration was not done recently, however. We ran into a few different issues that made us switch to a cottage for our second night. The door and window frames don't seem to be sealed all that well, which welcomes a lot of insects in. For the most part these were small, just pin sized little spiders near the windows. But there were also some small beetles, spiders, and even a large wasp that landed on the couch while I sat on it with my infant.

Besides the bugs, there were some other issues. There must have been something up with the plumbing; the toilet had a surprise for us when we arrived, and that evening we noticed a faint sewage-y smell in the main bedroom. There were also issues with cleanliness - the jacuzzi, in particular was dirty all around the top.

I know these are "cabins", but they were presented as higher quality than they were. I'm fine running into a few bugs in a camping cabin, but I really don't think I should be paying over $300 / night for a place where I keep my bags zipped up to keep the insects out of them. We switched to a cottage (#16) for the second night. It was new, very clean, and very enjoyable. I had a few nitpicking comments (nowhere to hang hand towels by the bathroom sink 🙄), but overall we really liked it.

Breakfast both mornings was very good. We had sausage rolls, cinnamon scones, and bananas on morning one. We had breakfast tacos and yogurt with granola on morning two. The convenience of having the breakfast dropped at your door in a tote bag at 8 AM was offset by having someone come to our door to ask if we were finished at 9:30 (and then again 15 minutes later).

Not needing to check in or check out was awesome, although the lack of human interaction during our stay was a little odd. I think it must have been a slow weekend. If there was some kind of front desk, I'm not sure where it was - a map of the property in the room would have been useful.

Overall verdict: I would stay in one of the cottages again. They do feel a little pricey for what you get, but they are enjoyable. The cabins (at least #4) are absolutely not worth the money and they could use some work.

This was a great place to headquarter out of while exploring the TX Hill Country! The rooms are modern, clean and feature carefully crafted design at every turn. Self check-in is convenient, we never had to interact with anyone...a great touch when you're looking for a secluded time in the Hill Country.

Each room has an outside area where you can sit under a covered patio and enjoy the peace & quiet. There is an area walking distance from the cabins where you can sit on manicured grass under plenty of shade and an elevated area with amazing panoramic views overlooking the Hill Country.

A short drive to Fredericksburg and even shorter drive to Enchanted Rock allow for great day trip opportunities. Would recommend packing in your drinks/beer/wine or lunch/dinner in advance as there are no full kitchens in the room. There is a great breakfast tote delivered to your room in the morning that allows for a leisurely morning

If you're coming to Texas for a Hill Country experience, we would highly recommend Contigo Ranch.

So glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Ranch. Thank you for your tips for other visitors regarding bringing drinks and lunch/dinner as the new cottages have coffeemakers and min-fridges but not cooking facilities. If you are interested in cooking on a future visit, consider reserving one of our 1890 cabins which have mini-kitchens with stovetops and microwaves. Thank you for your high recommendation.

This property is nestled in the hills outside of Fredericksburg, just about 3 miles from Enchanted rock and about a 10-15 minute drive in to town. It opened June 2017 so everything is brand new. The look is Hill Country Camp meets West Elm type decor.
My middled aged body liked the tempurpedic type mattress and the comfy seating both indoors and out. Breakfast came in a cooler with pastries, some type of warm meal (kolache, quiche, breakfast taco), fruit and all the extras. I could have sat all day and just looked at the view of that valley. Fortunately hiking is only minutes away! If you plan to visit fredericksburg, this would be a great stopover.

How far is this ranch from other amenities in town or downtown?
Fredericksburg, Texas
Hello! We are approximately 20 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. The main wine district is a bit further out Hwy 290 (approximately 25-30 min from Contigo). Hope to see you on the ranch!
amcmasciola asked a question Apr 2018

Is there outdoor grills or place for a fire at night?
Answer from Theresa D
Cheltenham, United Kingdom252 contributions87 helpful votes
There is a community fire pit. it is unlikely the will let you burn your own. The hill country in Texas tends to be rather dry and with this venue on a well system, fire is a hazard. There are no water hydrants as it is that far out from any town. I believe the inn keepers had a fire burning one evening while we were there. I don't recall seeing grills. There really is no place to fix your own meals anyway. Great place thought
