My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the White House B&B. The location is perfect for downtown, the medical center, quirky Magnolia Avenue and the Cultural District. The house is filled with contemporary artwork, and our room was filled with folk art - a great combination. The grounds out back are beautiful - I can see why they host a lot of weddings there. Breakfasts were excellent! Mindy and Yeimi are excellent cooks and hostesses.

We were in Ft. Worth to see a play and thought it would be fun to stay in a B&B. The Texas White House B&B looked charming and was in a good location for getting to and from the venue. When we arrived, we found that no one was there to check us in, but we were sent a text with the code number of the pad on the door. We were staying in the carriage house, Cowtown East, and had no problem opening the door and getting in. When we sat on the bed, however, we just kept sinking, and there was a terrible squeaking sound. I immediately called the Inn Keeper and told her the bed was unacceptable, so she told us to go the the room next door, Cowtown West, and gave us the code for that door pad. We checked that room out, and although it was rather worn, the bed was good, so we told her we would take that room. We moved our things to that room and went off to dinner and the play. When we got back to the B&B, it was 11:00pm, windy, and about 28 degrees. We hurried to the room, only to find that the pad did not work! Standing in the freezing cold, we tried several time but could not get the latch to work. I called the Inn Keeper, and the call went directly to voice mail. So we sat in the car to warm up and tried to decide what to do next! I called again, and again got voice mail. However, about 10 minutes later, I got a call back, went back to the door to try again with the Inn Keeper on the line. After about 5 more tries, the door mysteriously opened! But, once we got inside, we could not lock the door. The dead bolt did not align, and would not lock. We slept the entire night with an unlocked door, but were so tired by then, we didn't care. The room was warm and everything worked except the drain in the sink. It was totally plugged. Ugg! The next morning we had a nice breakfast in the main house and was told that a repair man was on the way. I do hope he does the necessary repairs. I also hope they get a new bed for Cowtown East. We did not see anyone at all until breakfast time. I don't think I will stay at another B&B unless there is someone on the property who can help if there is a problem.

As the owner of the b&b, I do have to say that we have a very different opinion of the situation. The innkeeper was present at the time of check in, but the room was in the carriage house, so we did not sit in the room waiting for the guests to arrive. The bed in the East side of the carriage house has always been a favorite among guests, it is not as described by this guest, it is a modern, wooden frame with several slats across for support (not sure how that squeaks)? The bed in the other room, is only 5 months old, not worn at all. In fact, we use high quality (Peacock Alley bed linens). We have given an after hours cell number to all guests to use after 9 pm, this guest did not use that number, but instead, the main number that is not turned on after 9 pm, I just happened to see the message on it before heading to bed. The door problem was clearly user error, as we had it checked out by our repair service the next morning and found nothing wrong with the automatic lock, keypad or deadbolt- the room was locked automatically when guests closed the door. I was able to talk to the guests and explain they needed to pull the door, not push! These guests arrived for breakfast the next morning and were pleasant and complimentary of the food and stated that they slept well after getting into the room. Now they have written a review that clearly differs from most of our guests. I recommend that guests that are used to the hotel stay, might not understand that a b&b is someone's home, and that we don't have a 24 hour desk, but do have an innkeeper on site. We provide a homelike atmosphere, a chef inspired breakfast, plated and taken to the table. We do not charge extra for the breakfast, parking, wine and water in the rooms. Not all hotels are alike, and not all b&b's are alike. We do try to please our guests, but have learned it is just not possible for all tastes. I am sorry you did not like your b&b experience with us. We will continue to improve for all guests.

While we were in Fort Worth over the new year we stayed at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, the Texas White House. They had two bedrooms upstairs and a house out back for more people. We booked it on a whim a week before our trip and we are SO glad we stayed there instead of a hotel. They had amazing breakfast (be on the lookout for that soon), wonderfully close to Magnolia with tons of food and drink options, and the staff had some great recommendations. We would gladly stay here again in the future!
