Our first night was interrupted by a herd of baby elephants partying upstairs. The kindly RCI rep moved us to a newer build Penthouse which was much quieter and had a lovely spa bath. Terrible check in process and inadequate map which involved going out of the resort and using another entrance!? Non existant WIFI ... Had to DRIVE down... More

We experienced gum stuck to the headboard, filthy carpeting, dirty furniture, dirty return air duct and who knows what on walls. We had 2 units and both were bad. We had young children so the conditions of the rooms was concerning. We couldn't get Internet or television in one of our units. The splash pad and fountains at ther pool... More

There is no WiFi They placed us a small unit for 6 people. There are bugs(moths) in front of our door and inside flying around. Furniture is very old and has an odor. The amount paid THROUGH RCI they would allow us the opportunity to select our unit. Dust all in the room (allergies are acting up) The bath tub... More

We had two rooms, the first was a two bed room regular. This room was OK but is in need of an update and refresh badly, also a set of steps that would go from the hillside parking area to the room (a good 12 foot drop at a 45 degree angle) would be very helpful. The other room we... More

Took the extended to flint for the weekend. Had a great time. The only let down was the marina needs to fo repairs on the paddle boats and pontoon boat,we had to go to lake Palestine resort to rent their water equipment since just about everything was out of order at the marina at the villages.

Holiday Inn recently purchased this property and has a lot to do to bring it into the 2000's. Check in is a long, tedious process as their staff can't seem to do whatever they need to do to get your room keys. Then after all this to get your parking pass you have to line up again. This is where... More

My family and I come twice a year and really enjoy the getaway and pool and the kids love the waterpark however the units need to have new furniture and better tv's! I mean we pay a monthly fee every month and you would think they would update the units! Housekeeping needs severe improvement! We only had 3 big towels... More

We were looking forward to a week away from home to relax, however when we walked into our condo we found food crumbs on the coffee table, a food wrapper from Panera on the floor in the master bedroom, hair in the second bedroom shower and food splattered all over the wall and cupboards in the kitchen. There were not... More

The units are fairly comfortable, if dated. One of our mattresses had a really soft spot in it, so it needed to be changed. The Waterpark looked like it was busting at it's seams in the middle of the day. Our weekend getaway, though, was marred by a 3-hour ordeal that was presented as an Owner's update because of the... The staff are friendly, helpful and awesome. The resort has The Waterpark at the Villages for a fee on premises with fast food available and four swimming pools, two of which are great for young children. With our two bedroom presidential condo, we had a balcony, Jacuzzi and full size kitchen to cook meals. WiFi had great connection. Grounds were... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Water Fun and Outdoor Adventure! The expansive Villages Resort is tucked along the shoreline of Lake Palestine, about two hours west of Fort Worth. It is one of the largest watersports playgrounds in the Southwest. Rent a pedal boat, kayak or fishing gear at our marina and relax in the clear water. There are also many fishing and outdoor outfitters and guides in the area. The lake is a favorite for tournaments and consistently produces big largemouth bass. Nearby Tyler also offers a variety of fun activities. The Tyler Rose Garden, the largest municipal rose garden in the country, is a popular stop. The Caldwell Zoo's diverse displays and exotic animals are delightful. And the hands-on Discovery Science Place is for your younger kids. For a truly unique experience, enjoy a round-trip Piney Woods Train Excursion on a classic train through the East Texas countryside. Families love splashing in our many pools including a year-round indoor waterpark. Plus, enjoy horseback trail rides, many activities, mini golf, fitness center and more. Guests enjoy exclusive access to the #1 ranked private Eagle's Bluff Country Club golf course. ... more   less
