We were ready to stop for the night and could not find a camping site with good reviews anywhere between Fort Stockton and Junction. The website for the X Bar Ranch sounded like just the place for a peaceful retreat! I called the number and spoke to Stan who welcomed us to stay even though no one would be out... More

My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at X-bar ranch to watch the Perseid meteor shower. The ranch is far enough away from the light pollution in east and central Texas that the sky is relatively dark, so you can see faint meteors (and other astronomical objects). The sky wasn't quite perfect, but in mid-August the high pressure ridge... More

I stayed at the X Bar Ranch for the first time last week, and I was there for two nights. The cabin was very cozy and comfortable and was nicely decorated in a Texas/Southwest motif. I was able to walk on one of the trails - unfortunately the other two trails were closed. The bed was very comfortable which allowed... More

Cabins are clean, comfy, with Texas decor. Access to the main lodge is great. This is a remote location so bring food. Outdoor grill with party lights; indoor kitchen facilities provide all necessary amenities to prepare food. Great porch with chairs. Wonderful stargazing opportunities...."the stars at night are big and bright!" Rustic but wonderful.

My husband and I stayed at X Bar a couple of weeks ago, and were both very pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is, especially considering how affordable it is. The pictures just don’t serve the place justice. It has an enchanting feel that pictures just can’t depict. It is amazingly quiet, except for the sounds of the great... More

The Round House was very remote, very quiet, very scenic. Extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated, well-equipped accommodations. Very clean and well-maintained. The nighttime sky is breathtaking. No traces of humanity visible from the top of our hill. Miles of hiking paths among the hills around the house. Bring food, drinks, and everything you need because it's about 30 minutes to the... More

We had 3 adults looking to re-connect with their West Texas roots. We spend a wonderful weekend at the Round House, did the Eldorado woolen mill museum tour (very interesting!) and Sonora Caverns (dazzling). We mostly enjoyed the tranquility, solitude and endless skies at the XBar Ranch's Round House. The RH is completely equipped with everything you need, very well... More

We found this place by accident on our way to Arizona and what a blessing it was! When I called, Stan was super nice, easily giving details about our stay and giving directions. Away from crowds, and so much better than a cookie cutter hotel room, we LOVED the entire experience. Beautiful, so peaceful and quiet in the midst of... More

My son and I stayed a couple of nights while we were in the area to visit the Caverns of Sonora and to enjoy doing a little astronomy in the wonderfully dark skies. We were not disappointed! The X Bar Ranch is a beautiful place! The facilities were clean and in good repair. The cabin and lodge were comfortable. We... More

We were so blessed to find this place! We stayed at the Round House for two nights! It was very hard to leave! It was so peaceful and humbling. It was like it was our own place. This round house was fully loaded with spices and ice machine and pots pans and dishes. There were even trash bags. 3 twin... More
