Hyatt Regency Dallas has garnered a reputation for its friendly staff and pristine conditions, though it doesn't escape criticism regarding occasional housekeeping oversights and bathroom upkeep. The hotel's ambiance strikes guests with its elegance, yet some note the presence of dated decor and disruptive noise. Located conveniently for exploring Dallas, the hotel's surroundings sometimes challenge guests with limited walkability at night. Rooms are a point of contention due to noise intrusions, particularly from trains, and the amenities, while handy, are marred by high costs and calls for modernization. Despite the amenities and service, travelers often view the hotel as overpriced, pointing to steep food and parking expenses that seemingly outweigh the overall experience.

Perhaps due to the time of year and the aftermath of Covid, this beautiful — and enormous — hotel was nearly empty when we visited. We saw literally only five other guests while we were there. It was one of the loveliest Hyatt properties I’ve seen, with tasteful and modern furnishings, enormous TVs, fantastic views of downtown and Dealey Plaza, and comfortable beds. Everything was clean and quiet, and the staff was incredibly friendly, even bringing us bottled water to the room upon check-in. You have a choice of valet or self parking (a short walk), and there is room service available. We had an easy walk to the downtown / West End area, though most businesses and restaurants were closed. Like the hotel, we saw very few people in Dallas. The Hyatt is a perfect choice because, as the picture shows, you get a view of the skyline instead of being right in the mix of it. It’s really an ideal and safe location, away from what I assume would normally be busy downtown traffic. They are pet friendly, though there is a verrrrrry hefty fee, higher than any of the other Hyatts I have ever stayed in (and I’m a brand loyalist). It’s fortunate I was using points for the room, because the pet fee was the price of a night’s lodging. (Considering we never leave our dog alone in the room and bring our own blanket for her to sleep on to avoid leaving any dog hair behind, the fee should really be refundable if there is no extra cleaning involved... but that’s just an opinion.)

In any case, it’s a beautiful hotel, and I do recommend it.

I stayed at the hotel for a company sales conference. The atmosphere, food, and room were better than I anticipated. The check-in experience was efficient with very friendly and helpful agents. The room was nice although the noise level to the next room was louder than I would have liked. I think it may have been the fact that there was a door to the next room that may not have suppressed the noise as well as a wall would have. Or it may have been a particularly loud neighbor because I did not here anything from the room on the other side. As for the room location, it was fine however others in my group had rooms that faced out over the atrium bar area and reported that it was very noisy at night. Best to avoid those rooms. The conference food was better than I was expecting with the desserts being especially good. Servers were all friendly and very responsive to requests. The atrium bar was expensive but a nice atmosphere. More seating and servers during peak hours would be been appreciated. Finally, there was plenty of self parking with in and out privileges available for guests (not common for most downtown hotels). Valet parking was also available. The hotel location near downtown was convenient although not particularly walkable. Overall, it was an experience and hotel I would recommend to others.

Came for NYE and Winter Classic.
I was told the music for the NYE party would end at 1 AM. Needed to wake up early and wanted to sleep after fireworks. Called at 1:15 and told music would end at 2:00. At 2:10 I was told it would end shortly and was told I could change rooms/towers after asking.
It would have been nice if this was asked up front. Even better, at check-in it would have been nice to ask if I wanted to celebrate or sleep and have quiet during the night. Was able to wind down at 3 AM and was not the relaxing night we were hoping for.

We went to dinner at Bob’s at the Omni, and we’re bummed to see that they had the hotel set up for the winter classic and included a shuttle service to the game. This wasn’t expected at the Hyatt but it definitely would’ve made for an awesome experience.

Fabulous hotel that is especially good for those worried about COVID. All staff were masked, rooms were clean, remotes had been put in plastic sleeves, bedspreads had been removed, and antiseptic wipes were provided in the bathrooms. Food was exceptional. Lots of options on property. Meals you can order from the bar are fantastic, healthy, and reasonably priced (for hotel food). Try the half chicken or one of the rice bowls. The buffet at the restaurant was also great. The convenience store offers a wide variety of grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, as well as a wide variety of snacks—many of which are gluten-free.

The king bed I slept on was hard as a rock which caused back pain for the next couple of days. May have been the location on my room but we also had to sleep with the tv on as the outside noise (car horns & train) was too much. Also, our shower wouldn’t come on without water flowing out of the facet as well.

Super overpriced for what it is. There is nothing great about the rooms that are super small, and in fact the carpet was bubbling up. No perks of any kind. NO SHUTTLE SERVICE!!?? If I wasn't forced to stay there, I would NEVER! I like my $100 room at Hampton Inn where I get complimentary breakfast, complimentary coffee/tea bar 24/7, inside pool for the kiddos, etc.

My wife and I had a great time mostly. She was on vacation. Whereas I was there for business. The restaurants, drinks, room, and service was good. Housekeeping was rather late in the evening to get to our room, and Valet was extremely rude. Valet refused to give my wife the keys to our car until he watched her pay. He said, "How do I know you are going to come back?" Needless to say we self parked after that.

We stayed here for five nights while attending the annual Jazz Education Conference. The hotel made a heroic effort in this horrible time of COVID. That is why I am saying it was the top rating. The conference was hit with many cancellations by guests due to fear and air travel issues.
The pluses were that masks were required and most honored this. The parking lot for self parking is a short walk at the bottom of the hill and is a safe lot. We were able to upgrade to a sunset suite for a reduced rate and the clerk gave us a very low parking rate as well. There was a 24 hour coffee shop and three other restaurants on site. There is also a small gift shop on the lower level and an entrance to the Reunion Tower.
The minuses were that the heating vent blew on whomever slept on that side of the bed so we turned if off at night. We were not able to get it to go past 72 degrees as well. I kept the heat up in the adjoining room to bleed over into the bed room at night. The WIFI network dropped every time your device was sleeping so you had to lre boot it. It also dropped otherwise often. The restaurants were good and the servers were good, but some items listed on the web site were not there when dining. This was especially true at Monduel's where we had seen a pasta meal and a salmon meal on the web site but it was not there on the menu when dining. Centennial Cafe was supposed to be a la carte for breakfast but, upon being seated and drinking coffee, we were informed that it was only a buffet due us having a large group. No where was this stated. Fortunately, the manager allowed us to order a la carte since we are light breakfast eaters. Parrino's Oven was better thankfully and is my favorite here. It is great that they have a policy of four max on the elevators but many people tried to plow on. This not the hotel's fault.
The check in experience was fine as Sophia helped us get the upgrades and was very helpful. Check out (I need a printed receipt) was also a breeze. Considering the situation globally now, this hotel hit the spot.

What is the best side to stay on to avoid the train noise? Floors? Rooms numbers?
Answer from LightPacker739309

Don't book "city view" or you'll be looking at the trains. Anything above the 20th floor helps with noise but call the hotel to dial this in better.

Either though Valet or parking near buy.

The over night parking for guest is $42, so I wouldn't expect this to be a good option. There are extended day parking lots much closer to DFW airport, and I believe there are several hotels closer that don't charge for overnight parking.
