Positives: Staff are well trained, professional and attentive across the various departments. 4pm late check out for Bonvoy Ambassador status proactively offered. A lady at the spa went the extra mile to have a new set of keys delivered to me when she learned I was going to head downstairs to get them. Food and beverage offerings are excellent. Executive lounge was not at all crowded and options were good. Staff here were attentive and helpful while being conscious of not being intrusive. Though I think destination, resort and city fees are unethical, at least this property goes to an effort to try to offer several items in return. House car available to go up to three miles from property. Quiet property for sleep quality. Not so positives: This is Ritz Carlton Hong Kong prices for significantly less impressive hard product, views and guest amenities. The value for money is just not there considering the state of the rooms needing a refresh in particular. I had some misses with the laundry service. I had some items for pressing and checked they could be returned by 8am the next day with the front desk. Front desk liaised with the laundry department and confirmed it for me. The gentleman who came to pick up my items said “You want them returned at 8am right” and I said “By 8am”. Shortly after 8am the next day I tried to call the laundry to ask about my items as they had not been delivered. The phone would not ring through to the laundry. I went through the front desk and they were apologetic and the items (with note attached saying must be delivered by 8am) we’re brought up promptly. I got a couple of items dry cleaned, one of which was a wool Gucci pashmina that was new - only worn on my flight in to Dallas. When it was returned it did not appear to have been pressed and so I’ll need to get that done when I’m back home as it was rumpled from washing and additionally had suffered damage by way of two snags resulting in horizontal pulls across it. I brought it up with upon check out and it was resolved to my satisfaction. On arrival the toilet cistern had a leak of water resulting in a small puddle on the floor. This was capably taken care of by engineering when I called the next day to note the issue. Aside from the late check out there wasn’t any other benefit to having Ambassador status with Marriott at this property. No room upgrade or welcome amenity. I would note the Ritz Carlton spa in Chicago gives a 20% discount to ambassador members and this would be a nice benefit to implement in Dallas. Do check your bill at the end to make sure all concessions have been applied.…
We stayed here for 2 nights, to visit Dallas and Fort Worth. From the moment we arrived, the valet associate was friendly, helpful, walked us to reception, got drinks for us and ensured we were comfortable. Every other staff encounter was similar, professional, well trained, friendly, genuine. Breakfast selection was great and everything we ordered (try the poached eggs - perfection!) was delicious. Even the Cappuccino (normally a weak point for hotels in this day & age of mindless automatic machines) was delicious and pretty! The facilities were spotless and functional, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom up-to-date. We loved it. Great staff.
Every room is facing a busy street and the hotel only goes to the 8th floor so you can’t escape the noise. It’s also pretty poorly maintained. There was a massive pink stain on the carpet, filth on the bathroom shades, and stains on the chairs (see attached photos) Would not stay here again.
Maybe it’s me. I have stayed at Ritz hotels in many busy cities, and I have never been turned away from breakfast in the hotel restaurant for not having a reservation. That experience fit in perfectly with the rest of my stay — just a bit disappointing given the $900/night base rate. Or having no in-house dining option available Sunday and Monday nights. The saving grace here is the staff, who are excellent. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
This is my favorite hotel in Dallas. My room was huge and extremely nice. Service was first rate, and the restaurant is excellent too. Not much more to say other than this: On my next trip to Dallas I will be back at the Ritz. Prices are certainly high, although they are actually reasonable in light of the quality of the experience.
Location: 5/5 - The location is walkable to bars & several fine dining restaurants. Room: 4/5 - The room was clean & comfortable. I had one of my best sleep in a while on the very comfortable bed. However, I understand that they’re going to remodel the rooms which is much needed. Service: 5/5 - The service was excellent. All of the staff were welcoming w/ friendly smiles. Ambiance: 4/5 - The hotel & its common areas were small, didn’t feel grand.
The only reason to not give this a 1 or 2 star rating is the excellent, friendly and efficient staff. In addition to the staff, the other positives are an attractive lobby area and central downtown Dallas location. However, the experience is completely colored by, as other reviewers have pointed out, dilapidated rooms unworthy of a Ritz. Our room had: portions of the carpet pulled up; stains everywhere - carpet, upholstery, drapes; cigarette burn holes in the chairs. One of the bathroom had stains next to the toilet which, while not what we feared they were, were still revolting. The furniture looks like it’s from the 90s or 2000s, with large sad empty electronics cabinets of no use anymore. Our room had a balcony, which was nice, but that in combination with heavy, musty, out of date drapes made the room feel dark. Our coffee maker had mold in it (from the water being left in between guests). On the positive side, the room was quite spacious, and our bedding was clean and very comfortable. Once the hotel is renovated, The rooms can be spectacular, but that’s not the experience today. Management kindly responded to our in-house survey, and apparently the hotel is due for a renovation at year-end. This is much-needed, and I would gladly stay there again after that renovation, but will avoid before then. I am glad I used Marriott points and not cash for this stay.…
The rooms are nice, don't get me wrong, but the touch lights on mirror is like a 10 year old technology. Of course, the touches are nice, which is fully expected. They do need to update the rooms though. That said, with the exception of arrival where the staff were they were star strucked by an NFL personality, the rest at the front are good. Their conversations with you feel warm and welcoming. There's a $25 guac-hour - where they have fresh guacamole bar at the lobby for free, to make up for the $25 fee that they have to charge. Everything is on QR, which adds the contactless aspect of the experience. We did go to the bar for a drink. The ladies of the night comes out at 8:30p, which seems early since there were a couple of kids there with their parents. The staff got our drinks messed up and they apologized profusely. That said, as usual, given the brand, I expected more.…
The stay was everything you would expect from the Ritz. We were checked in by an experienced and helpful Lady who recognized my platinum elite status and upgraded us. The bar is staffed by people who recognize you the second time you come in. Bellman and front door staff were fantastic. Our stay was highlighted when our house car driver was disappointed when we could not find cough drops on our way to our stop. So 3 hours later he showed back up with cough drops. Said he had to stop at two more place to get them. Exactly what you would hope for from a stay at this level and it delivered
We are staunch Ritz loyalists and try to stay at a Ritz property if available when we travel so we have stayed at Ritz Dallas previously and were very disappointed with our most recent stay. We stayed in a suite for 3 days revisiting Dallas and were terribly disappointed with our suite and the way our problem was addressed. Staff and service were exemplary as usual for a Ritz property however as stated by other guests, the rooms could use a make-over. Our suite was old and drab. The worst part was the carpeting at the entryway threshold was torn and the underlying nails exposed which I unfortunately detected the hard way by stepping on them. This was brought to the attention of the front desk and we were told it would be addressed immediately which to their credit it was. However the way it was addressed was having bright blue duct tape concealing the defect and covering the nails. I found this very distasteful and would have expected more from Ritz. We were not offered anything more than offsetting any taxes and fees we had incurred as we had reserved the suite with points. The associate at check out implied that perhaps because we booked with points we may have had a substandard room, again very unexpected for a Ritz property. We normally do not post reviews but felt this should be made known as there are many hotels of similar quality in the immediate vicinity and other travelers should made aware, especially those paying out of pocket, such as the Crescent Hotel across the street, and Hotel Zaza next door.…
