We had to evacuate from Beaumont Tx to Dallas Tx for hurricane Laura. Needless to say we were very tired and stressed when we arrived. I would like to compliment Sha at the front desk. What a nice helpful young lady. She even helped with directions to various stores etc. I usually don't take the time to review but she was really so kind and made our stay pleasant even though we were upset from the hurricane.

I have been a consistent guest at this hotel going back to when it reopened as a Kimpton property in 2006. I have experienced a high level of consistent quality throughout. The rooms are modern and well maintained. The restaurant and bar provide a wide variety of good selections. The gym is small but has modern equipment and has never been crowded. I am a Hilton Diamond member and my status has always been recognized and rewarded. The hotel is close to the SMU campus and shopping area across freeway has a pharmacy and alternative food options. I have found staff to be very helpful and accomodating. A few years ago I flew from Dallas (where completing a business trip) to China on vacation. I asked to leave business luggage and other items and the hotel was very helpful.

Our son was married on 8/8, and we used The Highland for lodging and several events, including arrival reception and farewell brunch. I believe our party occupied 50 or 60 rooms. Events were much larger. Needless to say, planning a large wedding and forecasting who might actually show, or who might cancel, in the middle of a pandemic is a challenge. Melissa and her staff; however, were fantastic to work with. Special thanks to Isiah at the front desk, and Muhammad, who did double duty as bell captain and chief parking attendant. These people were serving a large group with a short staff under difficult circumstances. Imagine parking cars in temps that approached 100 degrees...with a mask...all day. Thanks M. I hope everyone in our group was patient and kind like you. Rooms were clean and safe. Thanks! A great weekend. Love the location near SMU with all that has to offer. We will return.

Frankly, the entire experience was very disappointing. I specifically booked the King Spa room because the jetted tub and seating/sofa area appealed to me. When we checked in, I discovered that the room looked nothing like the photos, and lacked a seating area, instead it was connected to another room. I could live with that, but then we discovered that evening that the jetted tub was dirty, with floating bits of something filmy evident once it was filled. Then I discovered that only two of the six jets in the tub even worked, and barely emitted a stream stronger than used to fill the tub. I got out and my husband pointed out the white, splattered, crusted stains on the carpet. I was horrified, but it was late and we were already getting into bed. The next morning I spoke with the front desk and instead of offering to try to find us a different room, they apologized and comped...our valet parking for the first night. I specifically asked if they would send cleaners to clean the tub and carpet, and they promised they would while we were out for the day. Later we noticed the carpet had been vacuumed and the stains were no longer visibly crusty, but still very evident. All of that, on top of the fact that the hotel in general felt old and not well kept up (a cracked sink, mirrors with backing peeling off, a dusty, unvacuumed hall, crooked fixtures) contributed to feeling like our special anniversary weekend had been wasted on a hotel that felt like a Motel 6 that had gotten too big for its britches and charged double for unreliable appointments. The only thing saving this rating from a zero was the friendly and helpful valet attendants, who earned and deserved every bit of their tips, and noticed a weird quirk with our vehicle that proved to be something we'd overlooked.

Flew into DFW then caught a cab to the Highland Dallas. Had to catch a flight the next morning out of Love Field. The employee at the door didn’t bother to catch the door, help with the bags, say Hello, nothing. Get to the room that is sealed and supposed to be clean. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, the countertop in the bath room had obviously not been cleaned. There were drops of something sticky in several places. There were several large cigarette burns on the vanity top. I just wanted to take a quick shower and watch a little tv. The towels were threadbare,. There was no remote, the first one they brought didn’t work however the second one they brought finally worked. The bed was complete with cheap foam pillows, worn out sheets and a lumpy mattress. I was curious as to ownership sine I had never stayed in a Hilton hotel that was so run down. I wasn’t surprised to see that it was owned by some equity investors in the Midwest. They should have bought a Motel 6. It would be more their speed. They try to pass this hotel off as cool and edgy, but in reality it’s under funded and worn out. This is a Hilton in name only, shameful.
