I have stayed at the Curio and previously the Palamar many times for business travel and gave it a very positive 5 star review on this site. I stayed there for 3 days on a leisure trip over the New Years Day weekend. Some of the hotel's services are reduced which is the case in every hotel I have stayed during the Covid pandemic. The service and hotel quality remain high. There are signs throughout the hotel stressing compliance with Covid protocol. Most unfortunately the guests there seem totally oblivious to the Covid direction and guidance. I was highly uncomfortable with being out of my room as impossible to get down elevator and out the front door without being exposed to unmasked guests being totally disrespectful. It was a very bad look and totally different from over a dozen other hotels I have stayed during the Covid pandemic.…
Since Covid has limited my ability to travel I have done more staycation activities and discovering the great places to stay in my hometown. The Highland is definitely one of them. I rented the King one bedroom, high floor. It was gorgeous. It was supposed to be a romantic get away and it did not disappoint. We ate at Knife the on premises restaurant and the food was good but PRICEY....
Only real complaint is the failure online to disclose upfront the $35.00 per day parking fee Modern design and very nice employees. Minimal breakfast bar No bottled water in room. Covid safe practices take much of the enjoyment out of travel now but I can't blame them for that.
With all the concerns of travel right now my family decided to take the risk to visit Dallas for my father's 90th birthday. We needed a safe place to be able to gather and this hotel worked well. We booked 3 rooms for the 4 of us. One combo was a king suite with attached double room. The large living area between the rooms gave us space to visit and watch TV all together without too much risk. My Dad was able to join us there comfortably to watch his Texas Longhorns lose to Oklahoma in 4 overtimes! The rooms in this hotel are dated and the bathrooms desperately need an update but it was quiet and comfortable and felt safe during the pandemic. Normally I would probably give this hotel a 3, but convenience and ability to accommodate our needs so well raised it to a 4 for this trip. Will stay here again.…
This is listed as a 4 star hotel but in my opinion it's more of a high 2 low 3 star. We had mold in the bathroom, some of the fixtures were loose, the cabinets and floors were scratched, the bellman told me if I didn't let him carry his bags he would lose his job, parking is not included and the valets seemed annoyed that we came and went a few times during the day. Our room had blinds that would not raise so we couldn't get any natural light into the room. We didn't ask for or expect an amazing view, but we also didn't want to be in a prison cell. Every hotel room I have ever rented had a window. One thing to keep in mind when booking, people like to race up HWY 75 when the clubs and bars close downtown.
