All of our cabins are less than 100 yards from the crystal clear Frio River. Additionally they all have fully equipped kitchens, A/C, and heat. Every cabin has the following outdoor amenities: porch swing, picnic table, fire pit, and BBQ pit. Cabins 8 and 9 have wood burning fireplaces. We have a large pool complete with a water slide and hot tub. For other activities in the rec area you can enjoy basketball, sand volleyball, washers, tetherball, gaga ball, and the WiFi! From the porch swings on 10-15 you can watch the river flow by and listen rolling waters of the Frio River. We are family owned and operated and have been since 1949. Come for a visit to the historic, but nicely updated, Crider's Frio River Resort right on the Frio.

We rented one of the new cabins, has two spacious rooms with downstairs each with queen beds and another room upstairs with 3 single beds. Even though we mostly cooked out on the grill and ate outside on the picnic tables, we did use the kitchen for preps and making the sides. The kitchen is very well equipped with the standard appliances (stove, oven, microwave, etc) and it also has blender, toaster, and coffee maker. The cabin is steps away from the river banks where we enjoyed fishing and also floating. It is about a 45 minute float between the drop of and the take out, and all within the Crider's property. After a day fishing and floating the river we ate grilled burgers and enjoyed an awesome campfire with smores. The staff is very friendly and the property is pristine. Can't wait to return.

We booked cabins 10, 11, 12, &14 for our multi family trip the first week of August, which is probably our 8-10th year at Crider’s. We used to stay at Yeargains but years back they were unable to accommodate our large group and we switched to Crider’s. . The new owner/ manager was very accommodating and helpful and there were welcome new mattresses in the cabins. Each cabin has everything you need for your stay. Even though water flow was very low we spent everyday sitting in the river right in front of the cabins and our nights playing washers and cornhole tournament. There is great mowed, flat space for your social activities and ample picnic tables and grills for all your needs. Following after a longtime family owner has to be difficult, we had nothing but a great experience with the new manger and owner! We are a group of 31 adults and three kids this year and we will Be back again next year! Thanks!

We stayed in their RV park. We found plenty of parking, amazing and nice staff, clean facilities and a laid back atmosphere. Would recommend again and we will be long time customers! Our RV never got hot because of the shade of trees in the park. We Loved it!

This was my fourth stay with Crider's and I will not stay at there again. The grounds were not maintained like they were the previous year. We were not told the hot tub was broken when we checked in. There is a $250.00 resort fee for the pool and hot tub and we were not offered a discount due to the hot tub being inoperable. We found out from another guest that the hot tub wasn't operational. Also, the kitchens are not stocked with ample pots and pans etc. The staff was not friendly at all and we could not see the stars at night due to the new security lights by the river. One light would have been sufficient rather than 4 lights. I was disappointed as well with the new entrance from the river. It looks too commercially rather than looking natural. They could have at least planted native Texas plants back to the area to make it blend in better with the river.

when you’re charged $160 cleaning fee you wouldn’t expect to find hair in the fridge or on the bed. the power went out during our stay (which is obviously beyond their control) but having no backup plan to run the water pump is ridiculous. my wife was halfway through her shower when the water cut off. we couldn’t flush the toilet & after 4 hours decided to pack up & leave as it was 930 pm and we still had no water.
Not once did management ever even come by to offer assistance or an update as to when we might be have water. we were literally left in the dark. The refrigerator needed to be replaced years ago. one of the dining room chairs was broken and unstable - my daughter fell as she tried to sit on it. When you spend $1000 for a weekend you would expect a half clean cabin and a resort with no water plan incase of power outage.
when you pay $1000 for a weekend you would at least expect someone to come by and check on or at least offer their guests an update on the situation. management did absolutely nothing.
I should’ve read these reviews before spending $1000 here because it clearly states the management is terrible.
this is our third stay here and we are beyond disappointed. Wont be back

Absolutely love the property. There are several great amenities such as a pool, waterslide at pool, volleyball, lots of open land for games, to ride bikes, etc. The cabins are small but just what's needed for sleeping. I like the feeling of safety while on property. There are several easy access points to the river.

My friends and I stumbled across Crider's Cabins via Groupon, and decided to take a chance on a weekend vacation out in the Texas Hill Country. I'm so glad we did - these cabins were amazing, and Rio Frio is an excellent place to relax with friends and/or family.
When we arrived, the heaters were already turned on and everything was set up for us. There is absolutely no cell service out there, but that's part of the attraction of getting out into nature. We brought cards and board games, and that was all we needed. The 10-person cabins that we stayed in were right on the river, which was so clear it looked like it almost wasn't there. Crider's also left us a map for "The Largest Tree in Texas" which is on the camp grounds and within walking distance, so that was an excellent thing to go see - it really is pretty impressive!
A major pro for Crider's: they are really pet-friendly. We brought our dogs (well-trained) and they had a blast swimming and running around the camp grounds. They were so tired by the end of the trip that they practically slept for 2 days!
Notes: These are all things that Crider's warned us of ahead of time, but definitely listen to them.
1) Bring your own linens! Crider's has them for rent but you've got to pay, so it's worth it to bring your own. This is top sheets, fitted sheets, pillow cases and towels - they do have blankets/pillows there.
2) Bring cleaning supplies! They have a few things there, but definitely bring things like paper towels, cleaning wipes, dishwasher detergent, etc.
3) Bring wood, or buy it on the way there. Each of the large 10-person cabins has its own fire pit (in addition to a charcoal grill - so bring that, too) that is excellent for a bonfire. We forgot to bring wood, but there was a town a few miles out where you could get it.
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend Crider's to anyone looking for a vacation away from all of the hustle/bustle of everyday life.

DO NOT BOOK YOUR STAY AT CRIDERS ! The new owners are HORRIBLE If I could give ZERO stars... I would !! First of all. The staff is rude and lacks customer service skills. They charge your card for thing THEY feel they should charge. We just stayed here for the 8th year in a row and now with the new owners it’s trash. So sad that Jill worked so hard to keep this place family friendly. They claim we left a dirty cabin but we washed all THEIR sheets after wee took our own sheets off (for our own sanitary reasons). They also claim the CLEAN dishes left in the sink were dirty , when all we tried to do was keep the counter clean and dry by putting them in the sink A small bag of trash was left in the restroom. Maybe by mistake... I’m not sure but they want to say we left a filthy cabin. The cleaning lady just wants to go in there and not have to do anything We swept the entire cabin, upstairs and downstairs, this cabin was clean! It was clean just like all the other years we have stayed without an issue DO NOT BOOK YOUR STAY AT THIS PLACE !! Ashley , Rosie and Mr Escamilla are running this place to the ground They’re trying to steal people’s money instead of earning it the right way
The people in the cabin next to us were very close friends to the family and we’re NOT staying in the same cabin with us.
We booked for next year because we didn’t have to see these horrible people other than the day we checked in
They don’t disinfect the cabins after each stay because they expect the people checking out to do it for them
WE PAY A CLEANING FEE/RESORT FEE !!!! So THEY can do it for us !
I’m attaching a pic of our last year at Criders so they can count how many people stayed in cabin 15
There was NOT 40 people in that cabin... EVER

My friend kept telling me about Crider's on the Frio Resort and how beautiful the Frio River was to swim in. Finally, I decided to take a long weekend and meet my friend there for a relaxing weekend. I called the Crider's on the Frio telephone number and chose my cabin from the website. They were very pleasant on the phone to tell me what I needed to bring - linens, towels, hand towels, toilet paper, etc. I booked 3 nights and met my friend who drove in from Fredericksburg. This was the first time that I have been to this part of Texas, living in Houston most of my life. I drove the 5 hours to Leakey (pronounced LAKEY) and found Crider's easily off of Highway 83. I met the owner and he gave me the package with the key to my cabin. We chose the Cowboy cabin #8 and it was decorated beautifully. I loved the convenience of walking to the Frio and swimming in the beautiful, clear spring-fed water. This was the first time I had ever experienced the Frio and it couldn't have been better weather or more beautiful. The water was just right -not too cold or too warm. You can taste how fresh the spring water is. Swimming in in the river and looking up at the cypress trees is truly magical. The second day, we went to Happy Hollow and floated down the Frio with our own floats and we had a blast. I love the little "rapids" and meeting everyone on their floating journey. Friday night we went and saw the bat cave in Concan and watched millions of bats fly out for their evening feeding. It was a sight to see. We talked with the owner about the bakery, which was not open, but she brought us some turnovers from her mother, which we absolutely loved and thanked the owner for. On Saturday night, the owner told us that they would be serving ice cream at the newly installed pool. We also loved swimming in this beautiful pool and enjoyed the evening with the other guests and employees. We were sad to leave on Sunday, but Crider's is one of those places where we know we'll be back again and again. Crider's also has the oldest tree in Texas on their property, which makes a great photo opportunity. I highly recommend booking this property for a quiet, relaxing vacation or time with the family.

It had been several years since we had been to the Frio, and we were very lucky to get in at Crider's on short notice due to work schedules. It was our first time at Crider's and we will definitely be going back! Although it was a long drive for us, it was well worth it! In order to make our 5-night stay work, we stayed in Cabin 1 the first night, then Cabin 8 the remaining 4 nights. Both cabins were great; Cabin 8 is certainly more modern and spacious, it has great central air and it had TV/Cable. Although we were certainly not there to watch TV, it was nice to have for the little ones in the early morning. Jill was very accommodating in getting us scheduled and taken care of. She even came by the cabin one evening just to chat and see how our trip was going; very nice touch! The property location is great, very nice proximity to the Frio. There are 3 different access points (stairs down to) into the Frio River, very convenient. I would say that Cabins 3 & 4 have the most shade of all and are closest to the water. We really enjoyed the rock beach near cabins 10-15; there is plenty of shade there, but you have to get there fairly early to get a good spot!
Let me warn you: there is a BAKERY on-site run by Ms. Bonnie, and it is dangerous! And of course, I mean that in the best way possible. Dangerous to the waistline. The pigs/blanket, cinnamon rolls and Apple & Peach turnovers were my favorite! I would highly suggest placing your orders day-ahead. It was really neat visiting with Ms. Bonnie; she shared some really interesting stories. All the folks at Crider's are very easy to talk to and they really do treat you like family.
They are in the middle of building a new, very nice looking resort-style pool, hot tub and volleyball area. I wished it had been ready for our trip, but oh well, just gives us another reason to look forward to next year's trip! My family and I cannot wait until next June so we can visit Crider's again!
