As typical for small hotels in little towns, Comstock Motel doesn't have a significant web presence, so I will attempt to give some of those missing details.

First of all, the motel can book up during deer season or when providing housing for DPS, so it's best to call (432 292 4484) to reserve a room. All rooms have two full sized beds, TV, wifi, good sized minifridge with freezer section, microwave, plenty of shampoo and soap, 5 cup coffee pot with coffee (no decaf) and containers of creamer. Some rooms have a small separate room with a kitchen, small table and chairs. There is a large open outbuilding with picnic tables, 2 grills, some supplies, sink, and freezer with bags of ice. Everything is unfussy but clean and comfortable. The price is very reasonable with a minor upcharge for the rooms with a kitchen.

There is a convenience store across the street open 7am to 7pm with the typical supplies plus warmed boxed single pieces of breakfast pizza and stuffed waffles in the morning. They have a Keurig machine with a selection of coffees, etc. The town restaurant (J & P's Grill) is open for lunch and dinner daily except for Mondays. Good burger/sandwich/wrap place with a selection of entrees and salads. Yes, the Devil's burger is wonderful, as is the Devil's burger salad and fried mushrooms. And that's about it for traveler services in town, but Seminole Canyon State Park is close and well worth spending time to explore and doing at least the Fate Bell tour.

Instead of pitching a tent on this visit to Seminole Canyon State Park I took a chance and booked a room at the Comstock Motel. I won the lottery. Shawn, the proprietor, could not have been nicer or helpful. Room was spotlessly clean, bath supplied with fine soap and shampoo, and equipped with a fridge and microwave oven. Once the sun went down it was like the quiet signal was out. Not a peep until the next morning. Anyway if you are hiking Seminole Canyon or bathing in Lake Amistad the Comstock Motel is the place to be.

I stayed here in July of 2021 before a river trip on the Pecos River. This place is clean, comfortable, and really well run. The owners are nice folks who obviously take pride in their property. The prices are fair. I would much prefer staying at this hotel as opposed to something in Del Rio.

Stayed a night here in January 2022. The owner, Sean, was very friendly and helpful with getting us booked over the phone. Overall, the place was very clean. Had some great burgers and some cold ones at J&P's just across the street. The stay was quiet and slept great. I will definitely come stay here again when out this way. Thanks for being such a great host, Sean! 5 stars!!

My husband and I planned on 3 nights here but finished our business a day early. The motel was clean and is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Shawn / Sean was friendly and answered all our questions making us feel at home. We will definitely be staying here again in the future and recommending it to our friends.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at this location in February 2022. We travelled from Manitoba Canada to explore seminole canyon park. We totally enjoyed our stay here. The motel room is absolutely super clean comfortable and quiet. The people who run this motel are very friendly and pleasant. Just really cant expect anything better. We were totally impressed with the whole experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Did stay here several years ago, new owners renovated the place very nice, clean place and the manager was awesome. Clean with no frills. I will be back for sure. They have an outdoor area for BBQ's as well.

Wanted to go to the Caverns of Sonora and then Seminole Canyon the next morning, so we spent the night here. It's a simple, clean, roadside motel. Not fancy, but the room had a comfortable bed, nice shower, small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. There's a really good restaurant nearby and the owner was great. I would definitely recommend and will probably be staying there again on one of our trips to Big Bend.

If you are visiting the Rock Art at the Seminole Canyon State Park Texas, and wondering what the accommodation is like at Comstock, as there is nothing else nearby, we can reassure you. This isolated motel has recently been refurbished and is excellent value. It is well furnished and clean with large rooms and is probably passed by by most people.. However, we advise that you bring your own evening meal and breakfast with you. The small nearby bar/cafe lets the area down - we had a burger meal there in the evening but chose to "feast" on the crisps and biscuits we had by us in the morning. The motel has a good microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities in each room so you can enjoy your own food and still not have to get up an unearthly hour to be on the first trip down the canyon. Perhaps the local (and only) cafe can be persuaded to smarten up its act. Both motel and and cafe would then profit greatly.

On Monday 12/29/15, I attempted twice between 2pm and 4 pm to rent a room but the office was closed with a note left that the staff was out to lunch. I was hunting with family in the area so after the evening hunt, I again returned (around 6:15 pm) to rent a room and the same note was on the door. I called the telephone number listed for service but it rang in the empty office and I received an answering machine. I observed some people returning to their rooms so I asked if they knew where the staff was. I was told that the owner was apparently out of town visiting family and the motel was being ran by two staff members. One of the tenants advised that they believed that a female employee was in room #1 celebrating her birthday with an acquaintance. We made contact with the female who advised that she was not on duty and she preferred not to be disturbed. I was told that the employee supposedly working the office on that particular day was a male subject by the male of Russell. I was advised that he could be found at the bar and grill across the street where he was reportedly at for most of the day. I actually walked across the street where I finally located Russell. Russell had apparently consumed a large number of alcoholic beverages and he was not too happy that I was bothering him with work. He looked me up and down and abruptly replied that he didn't have any rooms to rent. I was advised by the people earlier renting rooms that there were several vacant rooms since several of their friends had left earlier that morning. I assumed that they were correct because there were only two vehicles in the parking lot and there were a lot more than two rooms. I eventually drove to Del Rio where I successfully rented a room but I had to make the drive back and forth when I could have stayed just four miles from where I was hunting. I'm sure the staff acts totally different when the owner is around but first impressions mean a lot and I'll probably make the drive back and forth to Del Rio where I've received good service in the near future. I'm sure the rooms are decent at Comstock but I've never had the chance to see one.
