We love this campground! The owners are very nice and take very good care of the place! They had a fire pit full and ready to go when we arrived. The kids enjoyed the tire swing and pool. The grounds are clean and the tent sites are large, allowing some privacy. The rates are also very reasonable. We plan to visit again!
We were traveling from Mississippi to Big Bend National Park when our Suburban broke down. My husband had a feeling it was the fuel pump. A very kind man towed our Suburban and camper here. Immediately, the proprietress, Sondra, came out to guide us into our spot. When she heard our story she called out to a man who was staying there. She introduced him to us (Jerry) and told us he was a great mechanic. She stated, "We're here to be a part of the solution." Jerry was confident he could fix it, a job that would require removing the gas tank! My husband called all over for the part. The closest place was a town 30 minutes away. That evening Jerry and my husband did the prep work. While they worked, Sondra offered us the use of her vehicle to take the kids to see the historic town, but we were pretty content just to hang around camp. We met several wonderful people. Jan gave us a tour of her fifth wheeler she was selling (beautiful) and offered us a ride into town as well. Debbie, who works with Sondra was also extremely friendly and accomodating. The next morning, Jerry drove my husband to get the part and about an hour after he began, we were set to go. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for everyone here, particularly Sondra, Debbie, and Jerry the Angel. You'll not find a friendlier place... and the bathrooms are great too!…
This park is a bit run down ... there are a lot of junk RV's making it look a bit like an RV junkyard. Laundry room is pretty nice, the restrooms are average - there are 3 shower stalls that are tiled, one had a chair or something in it so I think 2 were functional. I would be leery of paying ahead too - you won't get your money back for time not used. The park floods - in 2015 and again in 2017 - with folks being rescued by boat so no telling what sort of muddy conditions / mold / who knows what might be lurking. Whispering Oaks is down the road a bit toward Weimar, likely a much better option.
A nice little privately run RV park that is good for a quick stopover. Pros: grassy sites, clean restrooms, friendly staff, casual atmosphere, very convenient to I10 and a small Walmart. Cons: many cats, dog poop left at our site, traffic noise, and for some reason the rest rooms were roped off the night we stayed with no indication of whether it was ok to use them (it was).
This is a nice little campsite not too far from Houston. We were camping in tents and arrived late and left early so didn't really get chance to check out all the amenities but it was perfectly adequate for our needs. The bathrooms were OK and clean enough - although there were lots of bugs and frogs around (I love nature so that was fine with me!)
