Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is frequently celebrated for its serene atmosphere, with guests praising the tastefully decorated rooms and picturesque grounds. While the hotel's cleanliness generally earns high marks, some visitors have encountered housekeeping lapses. The value proposition presents a sticking point, as numerous travelers feel the costs and additional fees are excessive. Reviews on service are mixed, swinging from commendations of attentiveness to frustrations over sluggishness and inconsistency.
Its location is often lauded for offering a peaceful retreat setting, despite the occasional room assignment hiccup. The resort's amenities, including family activities and a spa, are popular, although not immune to service and pricing critiques. Guests report a range of experiences with the rooms, finding them comfortable with pleasant views but occasionally noting maintenance and cleanliness issues.

There is so much to do here for children of all ages. The bikes and outdoor games were a big hit with our grandchildren ages 3 and 7. They mascot greeting was so much fun for them. We loved going birding and walking in the mornings. Of course the lazy river and pool is awesome. A great family place to stay and you don't have to leave the hotel area for entertainment.

hi, this was our 3rd time visiting the resort. We always found the property and the system pretty great. It was still pretty good but there are some things to improve. The property is still beautiful, pool needed more cleaning as other people said below. Maybe an employee should jump in every 2 hours or so to get out all the pine pollen stuff. We were very thankful that the pool was heated. BUT, the front desk had told us it was only heated on the weekends. We found it heated Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we were there (didnt try Wednesday). Another miscommunication was the room cleaning. No one came by at all until we called. We have stayed in about 6 -7 hotels during the pandemic and usually someone stops by to trade out towels, etc from the door. This didnt happen here. It feels cheap and not worth the $300 + price for a room if no one ever comes by. We emptied our own trashes by walking them to trash cans in the property each day. They can def do better with this. Why keep the prices high but reduce the service in this way. Usually there are scheduled kids activities during the day, we found they were not happening which was disapointing. We did enjoy seeing the animal care giver walking the calf and goats around. That was great fun.
Changing topics, Sorry Hyatt, but we didnt like the room remodel. It wasnt great for a family in the two bed first floor room. My son hit his leg twice on the new wooden bed frame and I hit my leg once. We also lost a seat in the remodel. (There used to be 2 seats in there. Now, just one and a hard couch agaisnt the wall) It was tough because we were doing virtual school and needed the extra seats, desk, etc
Lastly, I want to compliment several employees publicly. Linda and Phillip at the front desk were helpful. There was a new waitress at the pool with blonde hair and tattoos on her arms. I apologize that I dont know her name. She was very pleasant and gave good service. We also enjoyed the food and drinks at the pool. So thank you for that.

Great place to bring the family for a weekend. Anything longer then that might get bored. Nicely remodeled and beautiful grounds. Wish there were more food options. Friendly staff. Lots to do as a family... Golf, spa, gym, trails, animals, activities, lazy river, smores, bicycles to use and catch & release fishing in the pond. I didn't get to use any of them so not sure how the process was or what things were free and what you had to pay for. Love the outside games they put out to play, but I don't think they were being sanitized as I don't think they would be able to keep track. The room was nicely remodeled and very comfortable. Liked that everywhere I sat in the room I could always find a phone plug for my cord and didn't need the brick to plug it in. Had some issues with the outlets couldn't get the hair dryer or iron to plug in properly. Resort fee was a bit ridiculous especially during covid.

My wife and I recently traveled to Lost Pines for a wedding. We brought our dog and stayed in the pet wing of the hotel in a first floor patio room. Very simply put, $410 a night was absolutely absurd for the condition of that room. It was worn, dated, and downright sad. Only plus was the TV was one of the biggest I've ever seen in a hotel room. Another member of our party had a room in the same wing of the hotel (no pet) and immediately switched their room to an updated room upon walking in and seeing it. We had no choice to stay because of the dog. The prices on these rooms either need to drop drastically, or the rooms need to be renovated immediately. I stayed at Omni Barton Creek 2 weeks prior to this trip, and for $360 a night the room was 100x nicer. Not to mention they offered FREE covered self parking, compared to Lost Pines 18 dollars a day non covered self parking. They also have golf cart shuttles running to and from the garage. You have to book it on your own at Lost Pines. I only had breakfast and lunch at the hotel, and on par with a place like this the prices are egregiously high for at best mediocre food. Bed was ok but what's up with the pillows? They condense into rocks. Maybe some people find them comfortable but that's just my take. With all this being said, staff was very nice, mask policies were in place and as far as Covid concerns I had none. We were given an extra hour to check out which was very nice. Unfortunately for me all of this is clouded by the fact that I am just shocked at the condition of a room that cost $410 a night.

My family has been coming here for years. If you live nearby, it is a great vacation spot without the hassle of flying. The resort has tons of outdoor activities and is very family-friendly.
And yes, it is expensive. But, I would say it is on par with other resorts of similar quality. I feel sure that it costs a lot to maintain these facilities and the number of staff on hand. Two things to consider if you are unsure about the cost:
1.) Whatever your "total cost" at the time of booking... expect that your exiting cost will be almost double. This is due to dining, incidentals and an extra activity or two.
2.) Remember that when you are booking, you are paying for the resort. Whereas some vacations are about exploring a city or visiting theme parks, the activities in this case are all included at the resort. Theme parks can easily be almost a thousand dollars a day if you are bringing kids along. At Lost Pines, you will probably pay about the same and you don't have shuffle the kids around or wait in long lines. You just walk to where you want to be and you get to enjoy everything on your own schedule. When you consider the cost this way, it is a more apples-to-apples comparison than looking at the cost as being "just for the hotel".
TIPS:
1.) Bring a package of plastic straws or your own reusable straws. For the past three years, this hotel has only offered paper straws at their restaurants and even the coffee place. The hotel staff says that guests complain about this all the time, but after three years, they haven't switched back.
2.) For young kids, you might want to bring a scooter or a bike from home. The resort has bikes available free of charge, but for a child who is not entirely comfortable navigating around people or riding bikes that aren't perfectly fit to them, they will probably prefer their own bike.
All in all, I highly recommend for families and weekend getaways!

The folks at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa blew me away this 4th of July. The staff to include Pablo at the front desk went above and beyond to get things right in the wake of Covid. The stay was absolutely outstanding and in fact I've rebooked for the upcoming weekend. It's a fast drive from our city home in Austin and the location makes us feel like we are genuinely away. We are hikers and the hiking trails on the property and adjacent to are superior. We also have adult children and discovered the Spa Pool is a perfect oasis for us. The restaurant we liked best was Firewheel Cafe and our dinner there on July 4th during the fireworks show was a perfect 10! Note that the room images on the website are the non-remodeled rooms on half the property (farthest away from pool) and these rooms have superior patios and grounds. The remodeled rooms are on the other half of the property closer to the pool in the center of the action, and less about the grounds. One last unexpected surprise was an outstanding boutique in the main lobby. I can't say enough about our great experience. Wear your mask! Be compliant. Keep your distance. Enjoy!

I have been to Hyatt Lost times many times. I bring my adult daughters each year for Mother's Day. After all that has gone on in the past year, my daughter got an emotional support dog. When I called, the first person I spoke with said it was not problem and no cost. She would transfer me to the right place to make the change.
When the next person got on the phone she said it was $150 fee plus $80/night. I explained that it was an emotional support animal (not a pet) and asked to speak to a manager. The manager got on the phone and said that an emotional support dog was still a pet and still subject to the fee and higher room rate. The cleaning staff had to clean up after the pet and the rooms are in a separate area to keep all the pets in the same down stair rooms.
We had a choice to make. Bring the support she needed and cancel our spa appointments or leave her without this support and go to the spa.
I felt like the manager was condescending and her tone embarrassed me for even asking. We went, without Ranger, and the hotel was great as always. But I can't look at the Hyatt Lost Pines in a way I once did. I never expected to be treated like that at such a nice place.

I researched all of the surrounding resorts for safety and precautions foe aa safe satay for a leery family. We called ahead and requested a room facing the outside so we can enter and avoid any lobby. I would say the overwhelming majority of all guest were masked and all staff were masked. They even made a mask announcement out by the pool as a reminder. QR readers for the menus in the restaurant and we picked up room service. Tubes were checked out after being cleaned. No room service but we wanted this. Very clean, very low capacity and we didn’t feel at all like there were crowds. They did have games like pool and shuffleboard open which made me wonder but there were wipes near the table for use. Movie night every night and s’mores too with lots of social distancing in the lawn. We didn’t partake because our room faces the pond and movie so we didn’t need to go there. We arranged zip line and ATV via the resort. Lots to do if you want to. My only complaint t is one restaurant and the menu is super small. The second restaurant adults only is the same menu. We chose this simply because of the COVID reviews and so happy we did. Beautiful resort. Kids slide did not have any e managing distance and that was needed. My daughter age 11 loved all of the extras without the crowds.

What a difference a year makes. In 2019 we stayed here for the first time and really enjoyed it. Came back in 2020 for Spring Break when COVID was changing everything and like most of the service industry, they were a bit slow to respond and we ended up leaving our stay after one night.
Fast forward to 2021 and Hyatt is on point. Excellent signage and communication around their mask requirements on property and despite the state order expiring, people respected the rules in place and complied.
The cafe restaurant did an excellent job in switching to either attendant served or family style and we found the food was mostly good. Would have liked to have seen expanded dessert choices and the change to drink being included in the cost of the meal like it used to be with the buffet but otherwise no complaints. Glad they still offered the omelette station in the morning.
Sheller’s was also very good. Their green salsa with the chips was delicious. I would buy that if they sold it separately.
We were lucky to get the option to upgrade to a junior suite for a very small incremental fee. The room looked like it had just been remodeled. Fresh paint, decor, mattress seemed new. Massive TV in living and bedroom. We really enjoyed all the space with 2 kids and don’t know how we will go back to a normal room after that!
Pool area was nice and during a cooler couple days the heated main pool was nice. Wish the lazy river was heated because that’s brutal when it’s in the 70’s and windy outside. Probably perfect in summer time. Bar drinks were a bit on the weak side.
They had lots of activities but we didn’t get to do many because our kids never wanted to leave the pool area. Whenever they got tired of swimming they would play in the sand area.
Only real downside was the construction below us on first floor. It started around 7-7:30am which for a weekend is pretty early. Woke me up most mornings. Construction goes all day so if you are planning on relaxing in your room, check on this beforehand.
This location is an hour closer to us than Hyatt Hill Country and the activities are way better. Pretty sure our kids have anointed this place the Spring Break vacation of choice.

This is our first time back to this resort in 10 years. Just comparing it to then, the hotel looks run-down, aged and dirty. We checked in and went to our hotel room where the bathroom floor was dirty and there was urine in the toilet (obviously, not from us!). We stayed 3 nights and did not have our room cleaned, beds made, trash emptied, coffee bar replenished or towels replenished. I had to verbally ask the housekeeper in the hall for towels, coffee and cups. They are limited in open food areas, that’s difficult for a family. We spent days at the lazy river and it definitely needs some TLC with painting/cleaning/food. Spa facility is nice but run-down as well, jacuzzi in women’s area was colder than the heated pool. The cost for the room comes with obvious expectations and it was definitely lacking and in NO way could justify spending over $500 per night on those accommodations! On the good side… Staff in the hotel & spa were wonderful! Fireworks display was absolutely memorable and fabulous.

Rent a car at the airport, if you want to go into Austin or shopping. The resort is on the other side of the airport and quite remote.
