Blisswood was such a welcome retreat. It was peaceful from the moment I pulled up to the gate. Skeeter is so welcoming and down-to-earth. You can tell he loves what he does. I stayed at the Dog Trot House. I’m glad I did as the temperatures were in the high 90’s, so I was able to utilize the pool that comes with the Dog Trot rental. Carol is a gem. She works hard and is available anytime you should need something. She truly cares about your experience at Blisswood as does Skeeter. I’m grateful the property is dog friendly. I was able to bring my two border collies. It was beautiful to get to see them enjoy the ranch as well. If you bring a dog, kindly they mind the livestock as you are on their territory. Watching the sunrise come up over the fog in the mornings is magical. Sunsets are beautiful too. The animals on property (bison, deer, antelope , emu, etc) are well taken care of. The safari is fun if you like to be up close to animals. The bison are majestic and to be respected during the safari. I was able to see them run along side of the cart. It was surreal. There’s a male who will follow you around. He’s nicknamed “Mr. Pesty” aka “The Pest” for good reason. Kuddos to the little kid who appropriately named it. I was fortunate to have toured the numerous accommodations. I like them all for different reasons. They are decorated appropriately for their type/history (I.e. cabin, safari tent, historic home). It’s pretty cool and you can tell a lot of thought, heart and work went into it. You have to set expectations for your visit. This is not the Ritz Carlton. This is a working ranch. This is a place to emerge yourself in nature. You will see bugs, spiders, frogs, etc.. All accommodations have the necessities (bath/shower, AC/Heat, towels, mini/full kitchens). You will not have Internet or TV (only 1 or 2 accommodations have TV). I was grateful for this as it forced me to unplug. This is a great way to be in nature without having to rough it. I highly recommend Blisswood Ranch for the solo traveler, couple or family. I’ll definitely be back.

My best friend and I needed a nature pandemic safe vacay and this ended up being a wonderful get away! No TV, no wifi, and you feel very removed from city life which is just what we were looking for. We went horseback riding, rented paddleboards, took walks, visited the animals, played games, cooked, rocked on the front porch with our morning coffee, spent evenings in the hot tub, talked and just relaxed. And it was dog friendly so my girl Maple was able to join in the vacation which she loved. We stayed at the Bluebonnet Bungalow and looked through many reviews before we stayed. I don't think the pictures really do it justice - it was adorable and a great, cozy place to stay. We're both animal lovers so we especially loved the small cow that would walk up to great us each day on our walk and give us kisses as well as the adorable lemurs and donkey who would speak to us. And our horses Jesse and Duque (sp?) were sweethearts on our horseback ride. It was also a really pretty ride around the ranch and we got to get a better view of some of the other rental properties. Carol's customer service I found to be top notch - she was always very friendly and quick to reply with any questions prior to our stay. We both would love to return someday and would definitely recommend to any looking for this type of getaway!

Thanks for taking your precious time to let us know how much you enjoyed your stay here at our great social distancing destination, surrounded by nature and animals. You really did a great job partaking of the many activities we have here and we so enjoyed sharing all that with you. I know it's a great place to also unplug; however, we do have WiFi at the Show Barn that my guests connect to if they feel the need, and my guests also use their hot spots on their phones to connect when they wish. Looking forward to another opportunity to share BlissWood with you and your best friend and furry family member!

Awesome spa like experience, peaceful. Luxury bath, food was excellent. Yes rustic was the theme, however pampered with all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Loved all the animals and their babies. The natural beauty of the outdoors right outside of your cabin door, priceless. Thank you Carol for your Texas size hospitality!

We stayed in the brand new RV on Lehmann Lake at Blisswood. It surpassed any expectations we had! It was very spacious and exceptionally clean. We loved sitting under the gazebo looking out at the beautiful lake. Later in the evening, we enjoyed a fire in the fire pit. There was an ample supply of wood and starter for us to use. If you're an animal lover, you must visit this place. There are bison, donkeys, deer, lemurs, and sheep, but the main attraction was the miniature baby donkey that was born just a day or two before we got there. All the animals are so docile and welcomed the apples and carrots we fed them. The staff is also very welcoming and accommodating. We hated to leave, but will definitely visit again, especially since it's only an hour west of Houston! Steve & Nancy Kearney
