Instead of making a big deal we cleaned everything and started our Labor Day weekend. The park was fun for the whole family. Lots of activities and fun things to keep the whole family entertained. The pool and water park area were a big hit for the kids and adults. Our children had a great time with the arts and crafts that were provided (at an extra cost). The bikes that are available for rent definitely need an upgrade, they are old and rusty.
We rented golf carts to get around but the cost is a little on the high price. We also rented a pool cabana and for the size and quality, it wasn't worth the cost. Might as well just sit under the shady trees.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom cabin, although it states that up to 10 ppl fit, it was much too small for us 6 adults, 3 children and 1 toddler. The beds had a protective cover that created so much heat at night. The sofa bed was terrible, the only thing that made it tolerable was the fact that we took a bed foam topper. The AC worked well for the most part.
My advice would be to try a different Jellystone Park. While the Hill Country didn't meet our expectations, we still made the best out of it and had a good family trip. Probably won't return again but it was a good family adventure
I was not looking for camping and explained this to the receptionist, but she led me on to believe that these rooms were suitable for my parents. She was not rude, but not nice(which made it more rude). Also, why ask if you have ever stayed there and not explain the rules and specifics of what to expect when clearly I was asking for something different. A simple 10-20 second explanation would have sufficed and we would have moved on eg. "Bring your own sheets, cabins are set up for camping, no refunds and we are kid friendly but you have to pay for every activity separately and we charge for additional people/kids to use any of our services or do anything out of the room, including parking." Simple explanation right? Apparently to simple to explain to me even though I asked repeatedly. Also, who doesn't give refunds but maybe credit for a place you will never go back to? I'm utterly disappointed by this place and there lack of customer service. Don't stay here unless you are expecting to camp and want to stay in a smelly unatractive room with ripped beds with no sheets and lacking comfort. The worst thing is that I asked repeatedly if this would be a good place to stay for my parents who are older and was lead on to believe so. I find this unacceptable and was totally lied to. Horrible!
The price is double compared to our favorite JellyStone park in Burleson, and you must bring your own sheets, towels, etc to Canyon Lake Jelly Stone.
The park is very small and not well set up for children to ride bikes and plan in or around your campsites/ cabins.
The “waterpark” was actually just a splash pad with two slides age appropriate for children ages up until about 10 yrs old (older children would be bored quickly).
There were two other swimming pools and a very small slide for toddlers and water spout(s) for the smaller kids.
Pros: The staff were kind at the front desk, not all activities cost additional money, fire pits were at our cabins.
Key. I offered to take the spare key, or copy they must have because they opened my cabin when I asked them too. They claim they don’t have one (remind you they opened my cabin for me) and that I had to pay a fee. The lady at the counter don’t know how much to charge, so she asked the lady next to her and she said $50. The way she said it made it seem like they just made up a number. Who charges $50 for a regular not chipped key. Again I offered to drive to Walmart and make a copy/replacement for them and they said no. They would change out the doors hardware. Now you know they are not going to change out no hardware. They just going to use the extra key they have. $50 for a key is outrageous. And no where on the check in disclosure does it say they charge $50. They just say you will be charged a damage fee. $50 ????? What ever. Making up a number is not the way to go. There was 25 of us that went, renting 4 cabins, and over $50, we will not visit this park again. We spent over $6,000 dollars and they worried about $50. Well, there is you $50 and won’t see us again. I don’t mind paying for damages, but these ladies behind the counter acted like they didn’t care about the customers at all. Won’t go back
