We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with family and friends for the eclipse. We had two lakefront cabin and two RV spots. The cabin 5 kitchen worked well for prepping large meals in large pots that we brought. The bed could be better, it was a little saggy. I was really impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the hot tub and pool, kids and adults loved it. We also enjoyed paddleboarding and the spectacular flowers.

2nd time to Lake Buchanan RV Resort. My husband loves to belly boat off the campsite and while he was unable to do so this trip due to high winds, the campground did not disappoint. Staff is easy to communicate and work with and the grounds, pool and laundry are kept clean and inviting, large spaces with ample vehicle parking on your site. Views of the lake from many of the spaces.

We will see you again soon, thanks for your continued upkeep of this wonderful location.

I had a very good experience (2 months) at a great price. However, their pricing is very confusing and different for different folks and different sites. I think they need to be more transparent and be able to provide an understandable statement of charges. Management had just changed, so maybe things will get better. I enjoyed the activities that were available and mostly put on by returning campers, with a few provided by management. I did experience a week or so of extremely cold temperatures for the area, that I was not equiped for, but over all I enjoyed my time there.

The park appears to have been taken over by new management. We noticed that others in our group were given discounted rates for added days, where we had booked and paid in advance and received no discount. I had an unpleasant encounter with one of the employees. I never got his name, but he has gray hair and a ponytail. While in the pool, a cloud moved into the area. A gust of wind caught one of the poolside umbrellas causing the canvas to rip. I jumped out of the pool to close it, finding that a deck screw had been used to fix it in the open position. Quickly, I removed the umbrella from the stand and turned it upside down. I was able to remove the screw and close it. I would like to add, I didn't open the umbrella, not was I using it. Because there was lightning in the area, we were asked to take shelter. I quickly tried to explain what had happened, the employee cut me off. With every ounce of patience I could muster, I explained what I had done, and that I didn't want it to be further damaged. The entire situation could have been handled much differently. If I have another unpleasant encounter with this individual, I'll probably never return.

RV Resort is nice and clean. Staff is exceptionally friendly. If you ask for something to be done, they were right on it. Kim is so nice and accommodating. Marilyn was very helpful when we bought a new 5th wheel and had to move everything over, we live full time in the 5th wheel. Kim and Marilyn (along with other staff) are very hard workers. They were always out there cleaning the pool area, bathrooms, lounge, club house and sites as they became empty. This was our second time to the resort and will be back in Nov 2024. We camped at Lake Buchanan RV and Cabin Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Chief is such a great place to stay. Sheryl, Dawn, Gonzo and all the staff feel like family. There's a friendly vibe in the whole park, people speak and wave. You can enjoy a breathtaking sunset over Lake Buchanan. The pool is nice and clean! If you need ice they have it, games they have it, curbside trash pickup daily- have that too. We've stayed twice now, with 2 future reservations in the books. Sites 65 and 66 with Cabins 5 and 6 are primo- lakeside view and separate from all the rest of the sites. If you want a quick trip to the hill country from anywhere in the Austin area go to Big Chief

We decided to cabin camp as we are selling our RV. There was no hot water the first day and a half. It took 4 visits to the office to finally get it resolved. I asked to be moved to another cabin and was told no others were available, but the one right next to us was never occupied. The futon sleeper had a huge sinkhole and the kitchen trash can was lidless. Part of our group of 7 families with RV's the guarantee fee to reserve a specific site, but that was not honored. We have been going here for 7 years but management has changed and customer service has suffered. Dissappointed

This was a great RV experience at Lake Buchanan RV and Cabin Resort.
We spent 3 nights here. We stayed in a pull through buddy site with camping friends.
The site was pretty level with a great view of the dam. The staff throughout our stay were very friendly and courteous. All of the facilities very clean and cared for. There is a pool and a hot tub that we did not use but we did use the laundry facility and it was very clean and all washers and dryers were operational. The campground literally has a lovely view of the the Buchanan Dam. The Bluebonnets were in full bloom. The entire lakefront was in full Bluebonnet bloom. We really enjoyed the stay here and would definitely return. There are cabins also on the property and we did not see inside them but they also have great views of the Lake.

Pro - Staff were terrific. The married couples that patrol/clean the park were always friendly and very helpful. The office staff were always helpful and quick to address our questions. Club House was a good size for our group. Kitchen in Club House has a lot of utensils and kitchen equipment to use if needed.

Con - Cabins are over priced for what you get and beds are not comfortable. Pool is too small for the amount of park residents/visitors that use it. Refrigerator and stove in Club House are residential size and too small to support a group using the building. Could not get Wi-Fi in cabin to work for television.

The rv site was extremely easy to get in and out of, the site was very clean and well set up, we were only able to stay for 4 nights but enjoyed every minute. My wife and I were able to enjoy the pool and hot tub. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and well supplied. The sun sets were amazing, there is a really nice play ground if you have children. Also they are pet friendly, our friends brought their dogs. The park employees we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. All and all it was a great time.
