Our time at Gaia went too fast! All the excursions we went on were exceptional, the guides are so knowledgeable and the love and passion shows. Every one of their staff is so lovely, friendly and helpful. I loved sharing stories with them and getting to know everyone. The room was gorgeous, food was amazing, the grounds are so beautiful it seems fake. Can’t wait to go back!

Where to begin... Gaia was our first stop on our trip to Belize, and it really started everything off on a high note. From the reservation to the staff to the property, room, food and views, it was all perfect. If I had to pick out one item that differentiates this place from anywhere else we've been, it's the staff. They really make the effort to get to know you, call you by name when you come in and out, get to know your preferences. It's the little things like that, that make a vacation truly memorable. We happened to be there over new years, and even after all the guests had gone back to their rooms at midnight, we stayed and danced with the incredible staff until almost 2 in the morning. We stayed in the Waterfall View Cabana, and were so happy with the room. There's no windows (yes there are screens to keep out bugs) and you go to sleep just listening to the sound of the water. It's a bit of a hike down to the water (which is their pool), but there is also a little tram that can take you there. The staff that offers tours are really superb. We did a tubing tour on the way from the airport to the property and that was excellent. We also did a private tour of Caracal (the Mayan Ruins) which was really interesting. We did a cultural tour where you learn to make tortillas and chocolate, which we weren't as thrilled with, but was still nice to learn about their culture. You're pretty secluded so be prepared to eat your meals on property. But luckily everything is very good, so that's not a problem. If you go on a tour, they pack fantastic picnic lunches for you. Overall - 5 stars and highly recommended for any visit to Belize.

Thank you very much for your post. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your time with us at Gaia and that you took advantage of the many activities and the unique setting that we offer. The staff does indeed work hard to offer not only excellent service but personalized attention to each of our guests-and it's nice to hear that you appreciated their dedication. Please come back for another visit and perhaps check out Matachica, our sister property on Ambergris Caye for similar service and great activities on the water. Regards, Daniel Lighter

My wife and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon. We loved it here and could have easily stayed here the entire trip. We loved that it is away from town and truly out among nature. The transfer from the airport was easy. We walked out the door and the first person I saw was our guide Calbert. You can tell a good deal of attention and quality were put into the property and rooms. The waterfalls on site were great and if you want to check out Big Rock waterfall they provide bikes. We did that and it’s a short bike ride from Gaia. If you want to hang out at Gaia all day you want be bored either. There are trails, an organic garden, and the waterfall area is paradise in the forest. My wife and I both feel the food was the best we had on our entire two week trip in Belize. They also offer any excursion pertaining to that area. I had researched the Caracol ruins before the trip and decided that was the ruins I wanted to see. I believe this is the best place to do that trip from because it is closer than any other place that runs the trip from town. Our guide for this excursion was again Calbert. He is very knowledgeable about Caracol and all the unique aspects of the site that you will miss if you don’t have a guide like him. He also showed us around the Rio Frio Cave and Rio On Pools. The service and kindness from the entire staff here was top notch and we felt very welcomed. I highly recommend Gaia Riverlodge and we hope to be back as soon as we can.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in July during a weeklong trip to Belize and we wished we had stayed at Gaia Riverlodge for the entire trip - that's how amazing it was! In fact, when left Gaia and headed to Sleeping Indian (another top-rated jungle lodge) we were literally missing Gaia! Nothing compares to this magical place! Nigel at the front desk was kind enough to take us on a night hike and share a lot of interesting history about the hotel, the property and Belize in general. We spotted some monkeys in the trees and other cool sights and creatures. Highly recommend the night hikes! We started the morning by borrowing the free mountain bikes and cruising the short 1/2 mile to the neighboring waterfalls, where we were the only people in the beautifully pristine location. Then we spent the ENTIRE afternoon down at the river, ordering a delicious lunch, beers and watermelon martinis with the walkie talkie they graciously provided for fast and friendly service. It was only when darkness was starting to set in that we made the scenic walk back to our gorgeous room to change and head to the delicious dinner served on the deck. My husband is a picky eater and there was always a nice meat and potatoes meal to satisfy him, while I feasted on the organic salad grown onsite and whatever delicious seafood concoction was offered on the menu. We followed the tips and splurged for the room overlooking the waterfalls and it was definitely worth it. It seriously felt like we were on our honeymoon, that's how gorgeous the setting was along with every little detail in the room. Suffice to say, now we're back home and can only dream about when we will make it back again to feel the waterfalls massaging on our necks while swimming from pool to pool. 10/10!

Thank you very much for your review, and a special hello from Nigel who thoroughly enjoyed taking you on the night hike. Two nights is indeed not enough time to experience all that Gaia has to offer, but we all hope that this first impression will tempt you to come back with a more leisurely schedule for more pampering and adventure, with more tasty, healthy food and total relaxation surrounded by unspoiled nature. I stayed here with my girlfriend earlier this month and I have to say it was one of the best places I have ever stayed at. The setting is beautiful as are the cabins and the staff could not do more to make you welcome. The hospitality is second to none and the food is fantastic. It is phenomenal value for money and I would certainly love to return in the future as would my partner. I could not recommend Gaia highly enough.
