Back in the beginning of the year, we decided we were ready for an 'adventure' vacation. After careful research, we saw there were direct flights on Southwest to Belize...and the prices couldn't be beat. We have done so many beach vacations, that I wanted something different, I wanted adventure. There were lots of jungle options, but we wanted a hotel that had hiking trails on property, and had a variety of different activities we could do without having to leave again. Hidden Valley was the perfect choice for us! My husband decided to treat me and upgrade our room to the suite, and I couldn't recommend this ENOUGH! I enjoyed having my coffee in the morning on our screened porch, and we probably took 3 outdoor waterfall showers a day! The staff was kind and helpful, and the guides really went above and beyond. We were there for 5 days, and went on a different hike every morning and afternoon. My favorite was the private picnic lunch that was set-up for us at Secret Pools, we really felt spoiled to have a waterfall to ourselves all day. Although there were other guests at the lodge, the property was so big that we never ran into anyone during the day. We took advantage of the free bikes, the canoes on the lake, and even the complimentary 1/2 day property tour (advised at the beginning of your stay so you can see your way around). The food was great! Even after 5 days, there were still things we wanted to do, so we are already planning to come back!

Be warned, it is about 2 hours from the airport so it makes for a long day. Take snacks for the ride, and just relax and enjoy the scenery. This hotel is not for those who only want to come for one night, its not worth the trip! But if you want some adventure, and to feel like you really have 'checked-out' we recommend Hidden Valley.

We went to Hidden Valley Inn on our honeymoon. It was an incredible and amazing trip. To start off all the staff from Stella, to the guide, to the cook, to the bartender, to even the cleaning ladies were all so wonderful and so kind. Estell made sure to make our honeymoon trip one that we will truly never forget. We arrived to a beautifully decorated room that blew us away. We then got to stay later in the larger suite which in itself was breathtaking, especially with the outdoor shower( we highly recommend it). The chef made incredible food from breakfast to lunch to dinner to the snacks. One night the chef even came out to greet us. She was so kind and she even asked us what we would like to eat. Her food blew our minds. We were a little worried before we went that if we didn’t like the food there was nowhere else around to eat, but let me tell you that worry was quickly put to rest when we tasted her amazing cooking. She even offered one night to change the menu for us to something we might enjoy more. She was so sweet!!! The guide was awesome too. He was super informative and made sure to make every excursion we went on with him a blast. The hotel and grounds were breathtaking, from the incredible hiking paths to the amazing waterfalls. It literally felt like living in a movie or a dream. With all of it being on private property it is an amazing experience to go to these incredible places and waterfalls and have them to yourself, since no one else except for people staying in the hotel have access to them. We also did the honeymooners lunch at the small falls and would recommend that to any couple or even a family traveling there. That is an experience in itself we will never forget. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime trip with amazing people, amazing food, and breathtaking scenery Hidden Valley is the place you should stay. Just look at these photos!

We spent three nights with Hidden Valley. From the moment we were picked up at the airport we were made to feel special. We took the option of stopping en route to do the cave tubing and zip lining. My hubby is 70 and I am 66 and we had the best experiences with both adventures feeling very secure at all times. When we arrived at the Inn we were greeted by Mr. Misael, Estell and Lisa. What a tranquil, inviting place. The main inn has a bar with a fireplace, a beautiful main seating area also with a fireplace, and a very beautifully decorated area for dining with fresh flowers daily. Our casita had our own fireplace and they invited us to burn the fresh wood on the porch, it was enchanting. The bed was adorned with a welcome in fresh flowers, as well as every area of the bathroom also had fresh flowers. The time spent to make this happen blew us away. As for the food, we don't have enough fantastic adjectives to use. Albeit the dinner menu has about 4 main course choices but we loved every bite and the presentation from Alonzo and his assistant Gilbert was excellent. Breakfast was delicious with numerous options. To burn off the great calories we took advantage of the numerous hiking trails over bridges and to waterfalls. We also took the optional tour for a full day of horseback riding. The staff, and I hope I am not missing anyone, Keith and Eurdulfo our personal bartenders made the very best martinis, and Kenroy, Kevin who drove us to the trailheads were so personable, knowledgeable of the area and had a great sense of humor. You can tell that the staff really enjoy their positions. They all knew us by name and stopped to ask us if we needed anything. A pleasant surprise was that they also grow and roast their own coffee and a brewed pot is always available in the main Inn and also available in the individual casitas. The prices at their bar were also reasonable considering their isolated area. The landscaping, flowers and birds are amazing. We found Hidden Valley a delightful interlude to our island life!

We actually visited in Feb of 2018 but just rebooked for 9 nights in Feb of 2022. We love it here. The rooms are wonderful and the staff are super kind and attentive. After doing a lot of research for places to go in Belize, this is hands down the best if you want miles and miles of on site hiking and peace and quiet. No other property in Belize has this many miles of trails (90 miles). We always felt safe while hiking as they provide you with a 2 way radio (mandatory for safety) and a sack lunch, if needed. Also, because of their extensive trail system they will drop you off and pick you up which allows people to really explore this magnificent property. We were there for 7 days on our first visit which was not enough time to see everything on the property. Their tours are great too. Bring your hiking boots, swim suit for the waterfall lools, a pole, and some water bottles and get ready for an adventure. (PS, they make a great martini too).

Wonderful stay at Hidden Valley on their huge private property. Great base to go to Caracol and explore other highlights in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forrest Reserve. Friendly and helpful staff. Wish that there was more flexibility on hours restaurant. (especially diner) and more options as on longer stay you might get bored with same offering. However this was picked up and in the end chef was very accommodating so definitely ask! If coming with your own vehicle the last bit getting there can be a challenge especially during the rainy season. There are no stores in the area so bring any special snacks you would like and fill up gas as also no gas station there. Would def stay there again. We did some of the hikes (bring mosquito repellent) and explored the property by car as well unlocking gates to hidden corners. Great waterfalls and swimming holes on the property and nearby. It was very quiet during our stay and good covid protocols. Could easily have stayed even longer than the 3n enjoying the peace and nature.

A group of 6 of us stayed for two nights at this boutique resort located on a private forest reserve. The food and service was outstanding throughout our stay and we enjoyed the resorts facilities which included a outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. We went on several trips visiting the breathtaking falls and hiking trails on site and the magnificent Maya Site of Caracol - which the staff at Hidden Valley kindly organised a guided tour for us. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable having fans and a fireplace in the bedrooms. To end day we were able to shower under the stars in the spacious outdoor bathrooms located in the suites. Truly enjoyable.

Overall a great place to visit and trek around the valleys waterfalls with breathtaking views throughout.

We took the 5 night birding package. Hidden Valley Inn was really good - clean, excellent facilities and service, very accommodating with vegetarian food (always a vegetarian option on each day's fixed menu), great ambiance, pool and hot tub, people very friendly. Birding was fabulous. The inn (2000 ft ASL) is on top of the Mountain Pine Ridge much of which is in a preserve. Habitat on the ridge is pine, tiger bush fern, drier than the broad leaf forest at slightly lower elevation. But you can get to the broad leaf forest easily via roads and trails and at other sites our guide took us to. There are 90 miles of hiking trails on the property! This package also included a day trip to Caracol Mayan ruins, very interesting and birding along the road was good too! They do offer massage services (we did not do this) but do not offer horseback riding. We would definitely go there again. Gift shop is limited.

My husband and I recently went to Hidden Valley for a quick get-away. We chose the hotel based on the activities offered, and 3 days were not enough! We love adventure. Hiking, biking and exploring and the hotel lived up to all of these expectations. Beware...1/2 of the adventure is just getting there. Although the hotel is about 2 hours from the airport, the drive with their driver was a tour in itself. He told us about the history of the country, pointed out sites along the way, and made the time fly by.

Once we arrived, we opted for the suite...and the waterfall shower was amazing. We probably took 3-4 showers a day, just to be outside :) We loved the screened-in patio, and enjoyed coffee on the deck each day.

The managers were fantastic, friendly, and helpful. The food was local with a touch of familiarity from home.

We can't wait to return!

We recently returned from a five night stay at Hidden Valley Inn. Our bungalow was immaculate and boasted an outdoor shower, a screened lanai as well as a fireplace for cool evenings.
We were warmly greeted by Gladness, manager, and delightful Estelle. Estelle helped us plan our hiking trips on site as well as excursions.
We received a walkie talkie whenever we went hiking on the 7200 acre property. We hiked the Cascade Trail and then, using our walkie talkie, arranged for a staff member to pick us up and drive us back to the Inn. The following day, a staff member drove us to beautiful Butterfly Falls. Thank you especially to Marvin.
We went on an excursion to a Mayan sight. Rick our driver/guide not only explained the sight in detail but also stopped along the road to show us the floral and fauna of the area. Imagine our surprise when we stopped for a late lunch in San Ignacio and our bill was paid by Hidden Valley because we had paid for the meal plan.
The wait staff was incredible and the food delicious. The servers knew us by name and were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Thank you to everyone at Hidden Valley for making our stay so pleasant and unforgettable.

Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, Belize10 contributions2 helpful votes
Hello Apease 79, The lack of AC is not a problem at all as we are in the mountains and our elevation is 2000ft above sea level. We do have ceiling fans in the room with an additional standing fan to make the room nice and comfortable. Our temperatures are very comfortable especially at night time. Our rooms also have screened windows on all sides which allows ample air flow in the room. Climate: The Mountain Pine Ridge is at an elevation of 3300 feet(1000 meters). During winter (November to March), the average daily low temperature is around 65 F: average daily high 77 F. (18.5c - 25c) During the summer months (April to October), the average daily low temperature is around 68 F, average daily high 85 F. (18c - 32c ) Please let me know if I can assist you further. Dear Linda A Caracol ruins are a +- 2 hour drive from the Inn. Taking a guided tour will include stops at Rio Frio Cave (on the way there) and Rio Frio Pools (on the way back). Other ruins nearby are Xunantunich (1hr 30min away) and Cahal Pech (1hour away), these are much smaller sites and located just the other side of San Ignacio town. I hope this helps! Regards Britt

Answer from InTheBucket

Hi. I am not certain what you mean by BOW suites. The main house sits facing the West side. Then just east of that, the other buildings lay out either facing the in or another of the cottage buildings. The honeymoon suites are on the South Eastern part of the "estate" area and face towards the forest, with their screened in porch facing the forest. Hope this helps.
