My trip to this property was second to none. We were greeted with friendly faces with s miles and were treated life royalty during our stay at this beautiful place. The staff were always attentive, nice, and took care of everything that we needed and more. Marvin our tour guide was excellent in his approach, information, and personality - second to none! We went to Caracol, he had so much knowledge of the Mayan history, the local horticulture, and the local birds, and when he did not know something, he was honest and got back to us later in our trip. The property was a great place to walk, hike, and bike. The many trials, lookouts, and waterfalls were the best every in one location. The chef did an outstanding job of creating and presenting the food which tremendous! Our server, Ophelia was also outstanding as she kept our glasses full, always was ahead of asking us if we needed anything, and was very pleasant to talk with during the stay. The bartender made great drinks and when we asked about the area, the terrain, and local habitat - he was wealth of knowledge, especially the local birds. The hot tub and pool were also terrific as well as the outdoor shower in my room. Overall, I would recommend Hidden Valley Inn and Reserve to anyone who wants to be pampered and enjoy beautiful scenery, enjoy outdoor activities of hiking, biking, yoga, and birdwatching, and a place to enjoy whether to relax, stay active, and/or be energized.…
We went to Hidden Valley Inn on our honeymoon. It was an incredible and amazing trip. To start off all the staff from Stella, to the guide, to the cook, to the bartender, to even the cleaning ladies were all so wonderful and so kind. Estell made sure to make our honeymoon trip one that we will truly never forget. We arrived to a beautifully decorated room that blew us away. We then got to stay later in the larger suite which in itself was breathtaking, especially with the outdoor shower( we highly recommend it). The chef made incredible food from breakfast to lunch to dinner to the snacks. One night the chef even came out to greet us. She was so kind and she even asked us what we would like to eat. Her food blew our minds. We were a little worried before we went that if we didn’t like the food there was nowhere else around to eat, but let me tell you that worry was quickly put to rest when we tasted her amazing cooking. She even offered one night to change the menu for us to something we might enjoy more. She was so sweet!!! The guide was awesome too. He was super informative and made sure to make every excursion we went on with him a blast. The hotel and grounds were breathtaking, from the incredible hiking paths to the amazing waterfalls. It literally felt like living in a movie or a dream. With all of it being on private property it is an amazing experience to go to these incredible places and waterfalls and have them to yourself, since no one else except for people staying in the hotel have access to them. We also did the honeymooners lunch at the small falls and would recommend that to any couple or even a family traveling there. That is an experience in itself we will never forget. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime trip with amazing people, amazing food, and breathtaking scenery Hidden Valley is the place you should stay. Just look at these photos!…
I have to eat gluten free and no meat! Wow, did they deliver. The chef made me gluten free breads everyday. Also, I discovered some new meat free recipes I can try at home. Then we had amazing hiking. We stayed a week and could have stayed longer. This place is my little heaven. Thank you all the kind souls at Hidden Valley Inn.
A group of 6 of us stayed for two nights at this boutique resort located on a private forest reserve. The food and service was outstanding throughout our stay and we enjoyed the resorts facilities which included a outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. We went on several trips visiting the breathtaking falls and hiking trails on site and the magnificent Maya Site of Caracol - which the staff at Hidden Valley kindly organised a guided tour for us. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable having fans and a fireplace in the bedrooms. To end day we were able to shower under the stars in the spacious outdoor bathrooms located in the suites. Truly enjoyable. Overall a great place to visit and trek around the valleys waterfalls with breathtaking views throughout.
We have just returned from a delightful seven night stay at hidden Valley. The location was chosen by our travel advisor, based on our interests in eco tourism and remote hiking. Our expectations were definitely met. The property is huge and beautiful. The draw here is the trails that lead to the multitudes of waterfalls and overlooks. We hiked this property extensively during our stay. 20-30Km hikes on a few days and had really enjoyed it. The hikes were hard at times, with some steep elevations, and unsure footing on some narrow paths. but there is plenty of paths on more even ground, and paved roads too. so something for everyone. Be aware of some of the bridges that cross streams. Many are simple logs nailed together. These types of bridges are not meant to last long and some were not maintained. We actually had two of them collapse on us. Fortunately no harm done to us, but someone who is frail might get hurt. So use common sense and walk carefully. This location is pretty remote and there is a road construction and rough travel to get in and out of the property. This means that you are pretty much locked into the location and eating off of their menu. The good news on that is that the food at this place is excellent. We never had a bad meal. Absolutely everything is delicious. The bad news is that the food gets rather expensive, so be prepared to pay for your lack of options. We escaped into San Ignacio one day and ate a less expensive lunch, and also picked up some bread, peanut butter, and chips to take with us on some hikes to save some lunch costs. We went on two tours while here. Tours are arranged through the Inn, and are done either with in-house guides, or subcontracted out to other companies. Our tour to Caracol was with an in-house guide, Marvin. He did a good job with the tour, and gave us some good information. If he couldn't answer a question he was honest about it and didn't seem to just make things up like other guides. We really liked his tour. Our tour to the ATM cave was contracted out. Our Guide, Dani was "ok" but we were disappoint a little because he and the driver mostly talked local politics in the car (In spanish), and because Danny's wife was expected a baby and had an ultrasound appointment that he needed to be at, we felt the tour through the cave was a bit rushed. We still really enjoyed ATM, and recommend that tour to anyone staying at Hidden Valley. but be sure to ask about the guide who will be doing the tour. Also, we learned that when the tour says "all day" at you have lunch at the site, the cost does not include lunch. They will charge you additional for a picnic lunch and not offer any alternatives besides their food. But again, their food is really really good. Something to keep in mind if considering this venue, and it is simply informative and not a criticism. The ecology here is a Pine and oak scrub. It is not a broadleaf subtropical 'jungle'. The flora and fauna at Pine Ridge might be different than what you are anticipating, so please keep it in mind. There are many heavily forested locations at the site, but the dominant ecology isn't that. Rooms are really nice. They all have a fireplace and very clean and comfortable. Also, at meal times, the main dining area and sitting room has a beautiful fire going. Every evening we sat next to the fire in the lounge and had a few drinks before dinner. The desk manager gave us the option to say at what level the room should be cleaned daily. This is a very eco conscious thing to do and it was appreciated. We chose to only have our coffee stock replenished and the fireplace cleaned and prepped. Other than that they simply neatened up. No need for us to have all the towels and sheets replaced. When we wanted that done, we told them. Regarding the staff: be prepared to be introduced to everyone! We met and small talked with the two general managers, the desk managers, the waitstaff, the desk assistant, and the chef. We were always polled on how things were and if we needed anything. At the end of our day we were asked about what we did, and what we liked and what we might like to do the next day. Since we were the only ones at the inn ( with covid, travel this time of year is very stalled) , maybe we got a special level of attention. But I suspect that they are also just a very friendly and caring staff that truly wants you to have an enjoyable stay. Sometimes this level of interaction felt a bit awkward, but its also endearing. Overall, our stay was really nice. We will definitely recommend this location to others.…
