We got married in November – after 25 years together. We wanted to have a celebration with friends but that’s not possible with the current situation with Covid 19. Then the question – do we travel, take honeymoon or stay home. I have to say taking this trip was the best idea we've had in 2020. It was a bit stressful getting out of here but once we hit the ground in Belize the stress melted, and we felt seriously safer in Belize than in California. We had challenges getting tested with results being within 72 hours – even after 3 tests in 10 days in the US with top insurance we did not have the 72-hour test in hand, we were tested at the BZE airport at arrival for $50.00 US and had results in 20 minutes. Why can we do that in the US?? From there we were impressed at the entre countries measures to keep everyone safe. The transfer to the hotel took our temperatures, disinfected our luggage and that continued for the trip – all transfers and rides took our temperature, the teams on and off property were very vigilant with hand sanitizing and mask wearing. Very well done! Plus, the hotel is in a very remote location and sadly very slow with the state of travel so we were virtually in our own world a lot of the time. Perfect for us on our honeymoon and being able to escape the US pandemic, the politics and we’ve been stressed all fall with firers in California. The resort is stunning, very authentic and a real sense of place – the open-air accommodations, pools, spa and restaurants all are surrounded by pine forests and rivers and falls. Incredibly special. How wonderful to be surrounded by such stunning natural beauty and to be pampered and cared for by the team. We stayed in the Enchanted Cottage, and it’s just that. A separate cottage about a ½ mile for the lobby, a charming stone house, private pool overlooking miles of river gorge and jungle. Huge bathroom, kitchen, fireplace bedroom that we did use twice, and our own golf cart to get back to the Inn’s main buildings. There are hiking trails with waterfalls, a seriously great spa experience, organic gardens, a very substantial stable for horseback riding. An amazing property, meticulously manicured and cared for by the team. Service was kind, caring, genuine and made us feel very special. They did extremely sweet and beautiful surprises for us and they will long be remembered. Our butler, Caesar, was seriously by our side at every turn from serving us dinner, when we returned for a day excursion, he was there waiting for us with a treat or cool drink. So thoughtful. On out final night Caesar created a romantic riverside pavilion for us with flowers, candles and went WAY over the top to make our last night and honeymoon special. Really can’t express how dear and heartfelt this evening was. Food and drinks were great – a commend them for the variety of dinging. We had pasta in the main restaurant the first night, second night at the casual Guatemalan Restaurant, 3rd night in the organic garden with a long reception and then a tour with the gardener followed by a delicious vegetarian meal in the garden, and the final riverside o=in our private cabana. Go, you’ll love it.…
My wife and I came here to Blancaneaux in December. We were fortunate to have mostly good weather during our stay but it was still warm during the day and slightly cool in the evening. Bernie and the rest of his staff do an amazing job to take care of the guests. Most staff would great us by name and also got to know our preferences during our short 4 day visit. My wife requested gluten free options and every restaurant we went to would try to accommodate. We were staying here on a honeymoon getaway and the staff arranged a secret private romantic dinner for us on their own - this was amazing and thoughtful. All the staff wore masks and would be socially distanced where possible so we felt quite safe. The rooms are good size and quite clean. Turn down service would get the space heater warmed up and hot water bottles into the bed for the evening. Once you are here you are kind of locked in to eating here - all the restaurants on site were excellent. Concierge on site can assist with activities - for Barton creek we used on site staff member Geronimo who is also a guide and he was absolutely excellent. For Caracol we arranged the activity ourselves. There is a waterfall nearby which is great but also provides constant white noise everywhere around the property. Yes, wifi is spotty here but mostly available (one of our mornings it was not), so if you 'depend' on it then you might want to rethink about staying in the mountain. Lastly and most importantly BUG SPRAY - you need to bring some and constantly apply it - we left with a lot of bites from our short trip. The road here is part of the adventure but it does take some time once you are off the main road and you'll have to be back out on it in order to travel to any of the nearby activities (Caracol, ATM, Barton Creek Cave). This was an amazing start to our Belize trip and I'm very glad we were fortunate to experience it.…
Beautiful resort, with beautiful grounds. I felt so relaxed here, we swam in the creek/ swimming hole, horseback road to big rock falls, had great food and drinks here, and also used the sofia plane service to and from the resort. Highly recommended
We booked three nights beginning of March ,and because of the rain the road to the lodge was so muddy that we got stucked with our jeep for one hour . finally we got out and made it to the property . We paid more then 1200 Euros for a smallest room we stayed during our whole trip in Belize . The Terrace was very nice and the the location is wonderful , but the room small , the bathroom with a small shower and a tiny sink . You have one two seater sofa and a small table in the room .during the night we were able to hear the conversation of our next cottage neibourghs. The breakfast which was included was a bit of fruit and bread with marmalade . The a la cart bf was very nice . Only one restaurant was open per night while the other was closed . Because we planed trips from the hotel we were afraid that we would have problems to come back to the hotel because of the bad road . Talking to the receptionist we got no help at all instead they came over arrogant . Finally we were able to talk to the duty manager and cancelled two nights . And verbally were told that the two nights left would be paid back .7 weeks later still no payment no answer to the emails . I would not recommend to stay there . Even the location is nice , but we found a very nice hotel the next day for half the price and more friendly service…
Beautiful cabanas overlooking a bubbly stream. Our 25th anniversery trip and was worth every penny. The staff were friendly and supportive. Extra details like turn down service in the evening was something we hadn't experienced before. While we were having dinner they would set up candles in our cabana and turn back the bedding giving it that extra special romantic appeal. This was done every night. The restaurant food was very nice and we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Our server Marty was super friendly and helpful. Each day they let us take a cooler of ice as we left with our 4x4 rental truck to do our own explorign of the area. It was easy to explore on your own. Jungle roads were marked better than the main highways. No chance of getting lost. Front desk Irene, every morning was attentive to ask what our plans were and any way she could help. If I ever come back it will be Blancaneaux Lodge for certain!…
