Hands down this is the best horseriding ranch I've ever been to, both in terms of the quality of instruction and how well they care for their horses. I cannot recommend this place enough! I took the week-long horsemanship clinic, and it was everything I wanted and more. Dianne is very hands-on with her instruction, and she takes great care to ensure you're learning the right things down to every detail. Her approach is grounded in practical experience and alignment to how horses naturally are. If you're serious about learning, definitely come for lessons with her (though be prepared to work!) In any riding experience, I always try to research to ensure I go/support only places that treat their horses well. Dianne and her staff takes incredible care of the horses, and these horses are in the some of the best conditions I've seen. She notices every detail about them and ensures they have proper care, are well-groomed, etc. Her horses are relaxed, healthy and safe to ride One caveat / reminder: they've no wi-fi & cell signal is poor on ranch (nearest city is ~15-20 min drive away). Just be aware of that when you come & prepare if you need to

This is the second time we have had a family get away here with three generations. Age ranges from 4 - 70. Everyone had an amazing time doing trail rides and exploring the park next door. Hosts and accommodations are amazing.

350 photos say it all: gorgeous scenery, comfy cabins, roaming horses that make house calls, equestrian activities for everyone, wildflowers, birds, armadillos ... all in a be-busy or just put-up-your-feet atmosphere. Snip the friendliest dog and cats who come a'visiting . And of course Dianne & Peter, who want guests to have The Best Time Ever at their lovely ranch. I got to play cowgirl for a week while my friend chilled. Good location for day trips to Bandera, Fredericksburg, wine country, or cruising the countryside. It really was hard to leave ... but we'll be back. Thanks a million!

Just spent a lovely 4 days at Hill Country Equestrian Lodge and we were all very sad to leave! Dianne, Peter, and dog Snip are wonderful hosts: very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. They have approx 300 acres in beautiful Hill Country adjacent to a 5500 acre state park. This gives them lots of nice options for trail rides with different scenery and types of rides. The cabins are charming with front porches perfect for sitting outside and watching the animals after a day on the trails. Dianne runs a great horse program that works for all levels. I went with my boyfriend and his parents and we had skill levels from no experience to very experienced and Dianne made the rides interesting for each of us. She also is a fantastic teacher, so our new riders learned a lot. She spent the time helping them actually learn to ride rather than sit there and hold on like some other outfits will do. Her horses are wonderful and very well trained with great temperaments. We all enjoyed our time with them both on the ground and in the saddle. She also offers lessons and clinics if you want to work on something in particular, lots of options to make the most of your time. The town of Bandera is charming with some cute shops and good restaurants. Although in the end we didn't spend that much time there as we preferred to relax on our front porch and didn't want to leave! If you are looking for a peaceful, fun, relaxing way to spend a few days I highly recommend Hill Country Equestrian Lodge!

I'm an experienced rider and went for the jumping clinic with on the flat/jumping lessons in the morning and trail ride in the lovely Texas trails in the afternoon. Unfortunately the other participants were beginners and Dianne was short staffed. Also there was a rain storm one night so we could not use the arena. Dianne was able to give me one private jumping lesson out of the four days. It was wonderful and in the one lesson I learned a lot. However, the other three lessons were not what I had come to Texas for, though I certainly benefitted from them. I went on two trail rides in the Texas Hill country. Sadly I missed out on a third because Dianne gave me a lesson just before the others went out and she said she didn't have another horse I could use to go on the trail ride. The fourth ride into the Texas Hills area was cancelled due to the trails being closed after the rain but we were able to ride in her huge pasture and her trails. All trail rides were mainly walk with a few very short trots, understandable since the others were beginners. Dianne is a WONDERFUL instructor. She is kind, supportive, knowledgeable, has excellent horses and cares deeply about them and her students. Unfortunately this was not the trip for me. Had I known I would end up with just one full jumping lesson and only three of four trail rides I certainly would not have spent $2370 and travelled from Seattle. That said, her place is lovely; accommodations were excellent the Peter's food was super.
