My family an I have been coming to Hill Country Equestrian Lodge for four or five years now to take horse riding lessons and relax. Dianne and Peter are great hosts who really care about their horses and how to teach us to ride. The cabins are lovely and you can choose to eat there or go up to the main house and eat at the communal dining room. The food is fantastic. If you are interested in really learning about horses and riding this is a great place to do it. Trail rides are also available on both the property and in the state park which the property abuts.
We had an amazing time at Hill Country Equestrian Lodge. The accommodation was cozy and well stocked with breakfast goods. The deck was the perfect place for a snooze in the sunshine. But we were visiting all the way from the UK for the riding. It was fantastic. Dianne and her staff were amazing at teaching us all to improve our riding and the horses were beautifully behaved and a joy to spend time with. We also fell in love with Snip the dog. I’ve been riding many many years and I highly recommend this Lodge. A perfect holiday and we will be back
I spent 5 days at the ranch to take a lesson every morning and a trail ride every afternoon. The accommodations were very nice. The kitchenette was stocked with breakfast items. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was well supplied with nice amentiies. All rooms had a beautiful view of the ranch. I arranged to eat lunch and dinner on the property one day and the food was well prepared and delicious. It was my birthday, and Diane, Peter, and the staff celebrated with me with a cake and singing. The barn stables were clean, well kept, and organized. The horses were very well care for by Felicia and Rachel. I enjoyed the daily lessons and would highly advise one to take advantage of Miss Diane's equestrian expertise. The lessons allowed me to more thouroughly enjoy the trail rides. My lessons were reinforced by the afternoon trail rides I took daily. Both Rachel and Felicia would provide concrete overservations and recommendations to improve my riding. I was also taught some basic harnessing and grooming skills. My horse, Smokey, is a sweetheart. The scenery during the trail rides is beautiful. You ride into the adjacent State Forest and are privy to beautiful vistas. They separate the riders into the appropriate skill level groups for trail riding. I was able to trot and canter for small portions of the trail ride. They have a friendly dog, Snip, who would come by my cabin for hugs. I loved being away from it all on the ranch, yet only 10 miles from town. The best of both worlds. I went into town to dine at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar and met some lively locals. I was also invited to the Bandara Mardi Gras parade. It was quite a parade......I caught 59 strands of beads!!!! There was also some great gumbo and other food to buy after the parade. The local Texans are quite gracious and hospitable. This was just a wonderful vacation.…
We stayed for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our gorgeous cabin. We went on two trailrides and had wonderful, very well trained horses. Our guide was super helpful and we enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be back again !
Looove my time there, The the accommodations are beyond what you can imagine… Clean, cozy… Beautiful atmosphere… And the people and staff are kind, and friendly and attend to every need. I actually attended a horse clinic, and the instructor was patient and treated each person individually for where they were and what skills they brought to the table.I am already planning a trip back in the spring!
