This was our third stay at Big Meadows Family RV park and we will be heading back there in June of next year. What makes this place truly amazing is the quiet location in the Smokies but only 30 minutes away from the busy hubbub of Pigeon Forge and surrounding communities. The park is ran by Barbara and Malcom who know their area and RV’s. They have helped whenever I’ve had a question about what I’m doing wrong when it comes to the RV. The staff( family) is very friendly and outgoing. The actual RV park is clean, safe and friendly to be at and the views are fabulous.
This campground is clean and quite with a friendly staff. Bonus: It is near several good restaurants without going into the crowded towns nearby. We met lots of great people and would liked to have stayed longer. We will definitely make reservations earlier next time.
Friendly staff, well groomed property, close to national park entrance. State tax & tourist tax increase daily rate significantly. Access to river is difficult, fishing requires license. Nice beer & wine restaurant nearby, gas stations and grocery close
Big Meadow Family Campground is a great place to stay. We have camped there many times and it has always been very clean, nicely landscaped, and very quiet. The owners are very friendly people. It is only a short distance from the National Park.
Such a nice place! I made our reservations online quite a while back. They called to confirm the reservations a couple of weeks beforehand. On our anticipated date of arrival, they called to make sure what time we expected to arrive, that we hadn't had any unexpected issues, etc. We were in the process of turning in to the campground when they called, so we all had a good laugh about that when I told the lady we expected to arrive in about 30 seconds. Once we got to the office, they gave us all kinds of useful information about upcoming events both in the campground (charity pancake breakfast) and in the surrounding area (hot air balloon festival and Jeep invasion). The campground is super clean and neat. It's in a great area, close to restaurants and the national park. The sites are well laid out and easy to maneuver a large camper in. Ours is a 38 ft 5th wheel with 4 slides, and we had no problems with room, hookups, etc. The campground was quiet enough that we could rest, but not so boring that we couldn't get out and chit chat with other campers. We've stayed here in the past and have always had the same excellent experience. Every time we bring our camper to the mountains, this will always be our #1 choice of places to stay.…
Big Meadow Family Campground has become my favorite, it has double concrete pads. One thing I hate about some campgrounds is mud, Big Meadow has absolutely no mud. It is extremely well kept and clean, it has activities for kids, a nice little dog park. They have full hookup which is always a nice feature. I have found the staff very nice and greatly helpful!. Just an all around great campground. I highly recommend if you want to stay on the peaceful side of the Smokies!!
Super nice campground which is near the river in Townsend, TN. We stay here about once a month and also store our camper here. This is very convenient for a weekend getaway without a lot of effort. A very quiet place to relax.
Our family took a weekend getaway and had an amazing experience. Campground is near the River Rat tubing site and convenient to Pigeon Forge. Entire site is clean. Very pet friendly with dog park. Beautiful view of Great Smokies.
This was our first time staying at Big Meadow Family Campground but before we left we booked our next stay. Everything about this campground was outstanding. The bathhouses were always so clean!! We were so impressed!!
I’m only giving this a 3 because of the problem with the the amp service at this campground. We have a 30 amp but had to go buy an adapter because it kept kicking off the breaker when we had on our hot water heater & air so we had to choose which one we wanted more until we bought the adapter. I never saw on their website about this problem and we have never encountered this at any other campground but when you arrive they attach this with your check in papers. Needless to say had this been on their website we would’ve booked elsewhere in Townsend. Once again this has only happened to us here not at any other campground. This was at site 39 next to the splash pad. So please take this into consideration when booking.
