We chose this hotel because of the beautiful and serene setting, and the fact that it is only a 16 mile scenic drive to Pigeon Forge. My husband and I drive to Pigeon Forge, enjoy the activities we like, and then leave that madhouse to return to peace and quiet. The owner is a lovely lady who cares that her customers are satisfied with the accomodations. And, also, very, very importantly, it is immaculately clean. the continental breakfast is very adequate as well, saving us from exorbitant prices in the restaurants. Any time we need a place to stay in the area, we will stay there.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this quiet little motel. It was exactly what we were looking for in a place to stay where we could access the Smokey Mtn National Park quickly and easily while avoiding all of the Gatlinburg traffic. This little motel was simple and dated, but our room was absolutely spotless and the king size bed was super comfy. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The free continental breakfast was the typical cereal, muffins, coffee, and juice. It was not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable, and that was exactly what we needed. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the mountains!
First time staying outside of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, Certainly won’t be the last time , If you like the crowds and the traffic & the long waits at restaurants , then you won’t like Townsend. I hope the secret never gets out about Townsend because I would hate to see it become overly commercialized like the other areas i mentioned . I chose Highland Manor & it did not disappoint, I loved pulling my car right up to the door to carry my things in , all rooms might not be that way . The beds are comfy , the shower has great pressure, the AC works great, it was quiet & clean & beautiful grounds to walk around on or sit and relax. I luv it here & I luv the area .
Can't say enough good things. My husband and I came here to relax. It was perfect. It was close to good food and all the staff were very accommodating. It's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Gatlinburg area to be peaceful, but only a short distance to get there. We will definitely stay here the next time we vacation in the area.
Highland Manor is a gem in the mountains. We go there often, some for quick trips, and for as much as a week. It sits up on a hill with great views. Miss Sandy and staff work very hard to make an older facility a pleasant place to stay. We feel safe and secure. The beds are a little hard, but doable. But overall this a great place to stay.
My sister and I stayed for five nights in mid-April and thoroughly enjoyed the motel. We try to reserve the same room Spring and Fall. It has a balcony and it is very clean. We can drive up to the room. The staff is friendly and they provide a continental breakfast. Always a nice stay.
This is an older Inn but we enjoyed our stay so much. Nicest people in charge and just a quiet, clean spot to stay. .Very reasonably priced and a great location! Small area for children to play - Would reserve again when in the area.
We stayed here before and were looking forward to another stay. We requested the same room, #219. We were not disappointed! Our room was on the end of the building and the view was wonderful. The view included the mountains in addition to looking at the town of Townsend This is an older hotel, but very clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast is continental style. You can take your breakfast back to your room or eat in the breakfast area. This visit, we ate in the breakfast area. You get the same wonderful view. Everyone is so friendly. We have already reserved a room for our next visit.
We always stay here when visiting Townsend, the hotel is always clean. The only downfalls I have is No ice machines - you must buy the bag ice they have onsite, No vending machines and the shower heads need desperately replaced! The staff is nice and the rooms are clean.
If you're looking for a great little family run place to stay that is literally minutes from the Great Smokey Mountain Park entrance, Highland Manor is the place... We stayed a week with the plan to hike in the mountains daily...from the moment we checked in, the service was just perfect. We got a room on the top floor with a jacuzzi and fireplace...after a long day hiking, it was just what we needed. the place was super clean with lots of fluffy towels and extra blankets. the beauty was in the simplicity. We sat outside in one of the gazebo and had some wine one night before dinner at a great restaurant just across the street...felt like we owned the place...! If you want to see the mountains, and enjoy the outdoors, Townsend is where you go...and if you want an experience that is right in the midst of the locals, without all then tourist trap stuff, stay at Highland Manor. Sandra Hendrick and her husband own the place and run it brilliantly. Friendly welcoming staff who care about making your stay comfortable made our visit well worth it. Thanks Sandra for a fantastic place to stay for our vacation...!!!…
