Formerly the estate of US Congressman Joe Evins, today Evins Mill is a historic woodland resort, offering a scenic setting, bluff view accommodations and southern gourmet cuisine. Select amenities abound, as do on-site activities and nearby excursions. Straddling the Highland Rim and Cumberland Plateau, the forty-acre property boasts one of the few Eastern Hemlock forests in the region, lending it a mountain appeal.

My wife and I stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary. To say that it was a good time would be a massive understatement. It was probably one of the most relaxing trips we've taken, ever. In the midst of all this COVID-19 brouhaha, they were able to make this an island of serenity and peace. The food is divine, the scenery is exquisite and the atmosphere is one of tranquility. Be sure and take the south trail to the base of the falls. You won't regret it. It's a bit strenuous, but the trail is roped and there are stairs for the most challenging areas. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place.

I have read some of the negative reviews and wanted to address some points brought up in them. It's true that there isn't much to do at the Inn at Evins Mill, but it's not a resort property and they don't market themselves as one. They are very much an inn, with quiet, secluded cabins (or rooms, if you're in Solstice) and beautiful views. They have hiking and swimming at Carmac Falls, plus the Gristmill has ping-pong, pool, foosball, corn hole, darts, cards, board games and a piano. The Main Lodge also has a library/sitting room where you can read or play provided board games. You can also borrow movies from the front desk to watch in your room or one of the common areas in the main lodge, Solstice, or the Gristmill. Not enough? Take a short drive into town for a distillery tour, creamery tour, shopping, etc. But the point of a place like Evins Mill is to relax, so that's what they cater to. The price does seem high, but they provide 3 hearty meals a day, includin 6 course dinners...even their bagged lunches are stuffed to the brim. The rooms are perfectly designed to invite rest and relaxation, and they're VERY clean. Their staff provides excellent service, though I do agree with other reviewers that they could use additional help when they have weddings on-site, as well as during busy times (ex: check-out is the same time that many day-trippers arrive to pick up their lunches). Overall, The Inn at Evins Mill is the perfect place to go if you want to relax, unwind, and disconnect from your devices for a couple of days (don't worry, they have WiFi if you don't). To the negative reviewers, I would say that they didn't understand the point of a place like this when they booked their trip.

Thank you for taking time to pen such a detailed review! Of the 230 ratings here, we are fortunate that over 96% land in the "excellent" or "very good" categories, and of those over 90% in the "excellent" grouping. I am of course pleased to read that your experience was equally favorable! In the name of transparency for those who read these reviews, I should mention that we actually do actively market our location as a "woodland resort" rather than an "inn," though I'm not sure that distinction is a critical one. Given that we host a lot of large events and business meetings, and that we offer full food and bar services as you positively noted, we deem the term "inn" not fully commensurate with our broader clientele or services. That said, whatever name one gives to what we do, we like to think that in addition to offering a relaxing and restorative setting, we also offer lots of fun activities, both on-site and nearby, as you referenced. To that I would add fishing at Evins Mill Pond and our close proximity to Center Hill Lake and RiverWatch Golf Course. Thank you again for your patronage and for taking time to post a review here! Please pardon my belated response. William

I had to take a minute to organize my thoughts before writing this, because this entire experience flooded my senses so, in a John Denver “You Fill Up My Senses” kind of way. I was overcome every moment of the 24 hours that I and my husband spent there. The setting was pristine; the food was delectable, and generous; the service was impeccable., and the accommodations so very comfortable. This was an absolutely phenomenal experience in the most unassuming and unpretentious way,. Every guest is treated like royalty, or better yet, family, from the most affluent, to the solidly middle class, as we are. They definitely have a prestigious reputation based upon serving corporate groups, and hosting weddings. However, the staff is also extremely skilled at meeting the needs of couples, and families. . William Cochran, Angee, and Jason Evans all have a crown in heaven for not only indulging us so, but also for embracing us, from the first email that overflowed with their anticipation to receive us, to the final goodbye that teemed with the anticipation of meeting again. Huge kudos to the housekeeping staff that staged our room so well, right down to the coffee service, and to the geese that seemed to honk and call on cue during our feast of a breakfast. The tenor of the entire experience was so warm and endearing, and can meet the wishes of any guest, whether one is envisioning a relaxing stay of eating, reading, strolling, and swinging on the porch, or a more active visit of gaming in the game room, attacking the ropes course, hiking to Carmac Falls, or visiting one of the many state parks that are within a reasonable distance of the property. This is an experience that will not only become one of your best memories, but also a part of your life. You will be a return guest, making pilgrimages regularly, because this place will mark you. Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco. We left ours at Evins Mill with their consummate and affable staff. Adored every minute of it!

What a wonderful experience, from the time of arrival to departure - staff friendly, helpful, and provided exceptional service.
