Wer made our way to Backbone Rock Recreation Area for a picnic. The area has several trails for hiking...they can be challenging because of the incline, but well worth it. The creek provides ample exploration opportunities and there are plenty of places to have said picnic. The rock itself is quite amazing. A great stop to take advantage.

Took our motorcycle group to Backbone Rock and it was very cool. Sits along the river and riding through the rock was really neat. Worth you effort to drive or ride up this way if you are along Hwy 421. Nice stop for anyone coming through too, because there is a restroom. If you are able, hike up to the...

Spent 3 nights at a tent site directly on South Holston Lake. The site was spacious and very close to the water. Mostly wooded campsite. The shower house was too far to walk from our campsite but there were bathrooms with flushing toilets and sinks close enough to walk. The bathrooms and shower house was always well stocked with toilet...

This is a rec area within the Cherokee National forest. It's beautiul, had a small river that runs by it, picnic tables and restrooms. There is a wonderful hiking trail up Backbone rock
