Spent the weekend with my boyfriend here for his birthday. We stayed in a suite with a Jacuzzi, it was clean, the Jacuzzi worked well and the breakfast was nice with nice staff in the morning. It was a great quiet weekend. Will do this again.
This is the second time we have stayed here while visiting family in the area. The room was large and quite clean, but the tiny bathroom had to be about the ugliest place ever. Ugly wallpaper with mold along the top of the shower enclosure. The mattress was a bit hard. They served breakfast from 6 to 8 am, way too early. Not much choice. We decided to sleep in and get breakfast elsewhere. If we return to Selmer, we would probably stay there again, but we know what we are getting.
I have been treated well during my stays here. The nightly rate of $64.00 for one person was reasonable for a clean, comfortable, and quiet atmosphere. I would stay again and recommend this motel to others.
Because of the price, and nostalgic reasons I've stayed at Southwood 4 times now. I will NEVER go there again. I booked Southwood for 3 nights. I don't travel a lot, but I'm fairly certain that guests SHOULD receive clean towels whenever they ask for them from the front desk (am I wrong here?). Apparently, here, if you don't want your room cleaned when house keeping comes by because you are indisposed for various reasons, you just don't get any clean towels! Housekeeping are the only people who have clean towels and the towels are first come first serve! They don't even keep enough towels in there motel for all of their guests (and there weren't many). I went to the front desk to get clean towels and was rudely denied. So thanks, Southwood, there's nothing more refreshing then drying off with a dirty towel after a shower behind a moldy shower curtain. The next morning I made certain to get clean towels from housekeeping as they came to clean the next room hours before check out. The lady scowled at me, asking if I was checking out and wrote something down on some clipboard. Then at check out time I stood at the front desk waiting to turn in my key cards for 5+ minutes. The man finally came in the door and told me that the housekeeping staff were waiting on us so they could go home. I'm sorry that I want to get my money's worth when I pay for a room! Then after he took my key cards he said, "Now y'all need to get on out." We were literally loading the trunk of the car when I walked down to check out. Soooooo rude!! Treated rudely 3 separate times, by 3 separate people, after booking a room for 3 nights. Good way to show your appreciation and customer service skills! I will NEVER be going there again. Thanks for the memories from previous stays, but you all treat your guests like crap.…
We stayed one night. Got into Selmer at 10:30. The lobby was locked up but the employee inside opened up for us and checked us in. Thank you for that! The room was clean, bed nice, sheets clean and had good water pressure (my husband liked the water massage by the hard water pressure after a long day of driving). The breakfast was great with biscuits, sausage and gravy. All handmade! Staff was nice. We'd stay again if in the area.
