This review is about the Wanderlust cabin at Lost Creek Cabins. The cabin is what I would call surface clean: the counters and bathroom were clean, the floor was swept and the linens were clean. However, it is in desperate need of a deep clean. I spent 10 minutes cleaning the coffer maker and my 14-year-old pointed out the significant amount of dirt and dead bugs in the light fixtures. I would not have used the oven, oven mitt or grill. The only seating available in the cabin was one futon and a few wooden stools. The kitchen has an extended counter and a built-in bar for eating at, but no table for games or playing cards. We arrived too late in the day for outdoor activities and the WiFi was out due to a storm. We were really left with nothing to do. The floor of the cabin was in very poor condition and needs to be replaced. While it didn’t affect the cleanliness of the cabin, it does leave the guest feeling like the cabin isn’t well taken care of. In summary, $315 for a two night stay was simply too much. We were so dissatisfied that we opted to go home one night early. We were going to have to pay for the second night regardless and decided that going home was a more comfortable option. To be fair, the owners were extremely nice, brought us a couple of extra chairs and were apologetic about the WiFi.

Response from Lost Creek Cabins , Owner at Lost Creek Cabins

Thank you so much for leaving this review. We hope that it helps our future guests. As much as we are sorry that we did not live up to your expectations, and some of your points are valid. We would like to point out a few things. First of all, we deep clean as often and as much as time will allow us to between guests. All of the surfaces are wiped down and disinfected, between each guest and fresh linens are provided as well. We went and bought more furniture the day after you checked out because you ALREADY brought it to our attention that it wasn't comfortable for your family of four. We have had up to 8 people in that cabin and no one ever complained about the seating before. However, we still decided to take care of that for future guests. We apologize that the coffee pot wasn't descaled to your liking. It is washed between each guest but coffee does tend to stain. The oven mitts will be replaced, as we do agree, that may have been over looked. As for the bugs and dirt in the light fixtures, this is a rustic cabin, in the middle of the woods, in the mountains, off a dirt road. Bugs and dirt, do indeed happen. Second, we did give you a credit for the internet being out, as it was obvious from the very beginning, that it was required for you to enjoy yourselves, at our rustic cabin in the woods. Up until recently we didn't offer wifi at all because it is very hard to get, in the middle of the woods, and is often unreliable. Most of our guests who come here, do so to unwind and be free of technology and really connect with nature. That's why they come to a cabin in the woods. Third and most importantly, price isn't negotiable. When you booked our cabin, you did so on the website, where the prices are clearly stated. You paid a deposit and received a confirmation of all the booking information and exactly what the total would be. You agreed to that amount when you booked it. Our website offers very accurate descriptions and pictures of what our cabins offer. We are not trying to deceive anyone with what they are getting. Our prices are very similar and competitive to other cabins in the area. This is a tourist area and there are very few places to stay around here. We could easily raise our prices and stay booked during the summer. We turn people away every single day who would happily pay to stay here, without wifi, without extra seating, bugs and all. We have learned that sometimes, no matter what we have to offer, no matter how charming our rustic little cabin in the woods may be, it will simply not be what some people are looking for. We try to sway people away from staying here when we feel like that may be the case, but unfortunately, we cant sniff them all out. Sorry we did not meet your expectations. The type of Tennessee vacation you may have been looking for was probably Gatlinburg, not Reliance. To our future guests who may be swayed from this review. Please call us and ask questions. We are happy to answer them. But please know, we are not a mountain top Hilton. We are Lost Creek Cabins. It is indeed as remote as it sounds. Come for nature, not technology. If the sight of a bug or two will ruin your vacation, this in not the place for you. If being without a cell phone or wifi makes you uneasy, this is not the place for you. If gravel roads or mountains make you uncomfortable, this is not the place for you. Be well :)

My husband and I spent 2 nights in Cabin 1. No computer, no tablet, no TV (DVD player, provided), no cell service...JUST WHAT WE WANTED & NEEDED in this crazy year! Truly off the Grid! Quiet, secluded but within a short drive to food if you prefer not cooking. We spent one day exploring but quickly realized that we preferred sitting on the cabin porch so we purchased dinners at a local restaurant and ate at the cabin. Our cabin was clean and pretty well equipped. Pretty sure everything worked although we used only the oven and microwave. We didn't use heat or air since the temperature was cool and comfortable. A great place to relax and enjoy nature. We plan on returning!

First I want to say is owners are friendly and that is the only reason 2 stars were given. We stayed at wanderlust cabin. Cabin was dirty, fridge wasn't even wiped out. Beds were uncomfortable with flat pillows. The cabin was out of propane so instead of the owners getting a new tank they put a space heater in the cabin. It worked but the smoke alarms didn't which is scary. We had the owners get new batteries but the smoke detectors were broken. Also, there was a mouse that kept scaring my kids. Beautiful area at least.

We had a great time. The couple was great and excited for us to try white water rafting for the first time. The hot tub that our cabin had was just the right thing for after the trip. It was beautiful and a perfect escape from technology! My little Sentra even made it up the hill with little problem. Thanks again so much; it was a refreshing break.

We spent three days reconnecting as a family. The cabins are clean and comfortable. There is so much to do from kayaking, tubing, hiking, swimming, and just simply sitting on your porch enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountain. The hosts are incredible and offer insight on the best places to explore. You will definitely want to visit again once you leave.

At Lost Creek Cabins, we found exactly what we were looking for - each other ♥️ It’s beautiful, tranquil, private, & romantic. We went adventuring nearby and spent an afternoon exploring spectacular waterfalls. We spent the evenings relaxing by firelight in the jacuzzi tub inside our cabin. It was the perfect place to leave the whole world behind & simply enjoy each other’s company, while surrounded by a wintery wood that just takes your breath away.

Kids had a blast running around, we used the cabin as a base for exploring the area. The owners provided some great tips about where to go, and they were spot on.. Thanks we had a great time. If it is going to snow or rain 4X4 would be absolutely necessary or you will be walking up to the cabins...it would be a tough hike with a suitcase.. We stayed in #5 which is at the bottom of the hill compared to the other cabins. Next time we will bring a jeep or 4x4 truck/SUV. We will absolutely put this on the top picks next time we wander that direction.

We spent almost a week and it wasn't enough! This nature lovers resort is not for everyone but we LOVED it! Drinking my coffee or a nightcap in the hot tub on the deck was an amazing way to start & end our days. The cabins are nicely appointed and the Monticelli's are accommodating and not intrusive. It is a perfect place for visiting the Cherokee National Forest and Ocoee River, and only about an hour to Chattanooga. They have great plans for this property. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and we had a great time. We showed up a couple of hours early and they let us go ahead and check in. The owners met us at the cabin to explain things to us and see if there was anything we needed. Which I thought was awesome. The cabin was just what we wanted. Nothing fancy just something quiet and relaxing. It was definitely both of those. Unless we were rafting we were there. It rained almost the whole time we were there so it made it a little more difficult to get up to it. So I suggest you make sure you take what you need to avoid having to run up and down a lot. The hot tub was great to come back to after being in the chilly river all day. Only downfall was the road leading upto the cabin. I had to use 4x4 to get up there, but like I said it was raining.

We had a very pleasant time at the cabin we stayed in cabin 3 and had a nice quiet retreat it was good to get away from our normal everyday life. We went to catch trout while we were up there and caught some every day we were there. The owners are really nice people and did their best to make sure we had everything we needed. Our favorite part was how relaxing it was and getting to hang out with everyone. The road to come up is a bit steep but we had 2 wheel drive trucks and a 2wheel drive SUV make it up the hill. Ill definitely be coming back.
