Workers are super nice. We camped 3 nights. They only have 110 connection. We had lots of problems with lights and appliances not working, had to reset breakers mult time. (Need to upgrade electrical connections.) Tent camping and rv sites desperately need standard crushed gravel. It becomes a mud pit when it rains, gravel would be an easy expensive fix. Bathrooms could be cleaner. Shower stalls are extra large and have hot water. Rafting services are good but need to disinfect life vest in between users.

Enjoyed our 5th time at the Hiwassee Outfitters! People working there are always hospitable. Fresh water available for camp sites. Bathhouse includes warm showers. It's a camp site so they can become muddy over the weekends but while we were there they were clean. Store provided essential supplies we forgot and everyone picked up a t-shirt. We will be back and recommend if your looking for a great place to relax.

Great location, and everything went well with our rafting trip, but I won't ever stay at the campground again. A big sign with the campground rules was posted at the campground entrance but it's apparently just for decoration. The rules included keeping dogs on a leash, no loud music, and quiet time at 11p. There were 4 dogs not tied that were intermittently escaping their owners (one dog ran through our camp site several times and agitated our dog, who was tied). There was a camper who blasted music for two nights, despite my complaints to staff. And quiet time was not enforced. I don't mind music and some noise, but I don't like to feel like I'm at a singles bar when I lay in my tent to go to sleep. The bathrooms were dark and nasty. Most of the lights were out, there was no hand soap nor paper towels or hand dryer, and there was mud (I hope) on two toilet seats. I would have gladly paid $5 more a night for someone to clean the bathroom once a day and by "clean" I just mean a dry toilet seat with no mysterious dark smudges.

My family and I was so glad we made it finally to do some rafting at Hiwassee Outfitters! It's very organized, cleaned and plenty things to do! The workers are friendly and very helpful. I would suggest this to be a must for a family or group to visit they won't regret it! Along with excellent services it has a beautiful scenery there. We will revisit at hopes for a weekend stay!!!!

Great location and staff. Awesome for families to enjoy a primitive setting. The store had great selections and prices. Staff was very helpful in information about things to do in the surrounding areas. Equipment was top notch and easy to use on the river. One if the best trips we have had. Highly recommend. Bath house was clean.

We have come here several times to paddle the Hiwassee. You can't beat the location! However, every time we come we see something else that has not been fixed. The ladies room is awful! Simple things like fixing locks on the bathroom stalls or replacing the broken hot water handle in the shower (cold shower anyone?) or even killing a few of wasps nests would go a long way. I don't know what they are using the money for but it sure isn't keeping up the facilities!

We just got back from a 3 day camping trip to float the Hiwassee. I have a separate review of the Outfitters but wanted to add this one for the campground. There's a saying about places like this... you get what you pay for. Dogs barking constantly, lots of kids (not a bad thing, just everywhere) music and talking way into the night. Only a 110v outlet about 90 ft away and no water hookup. Not a place for a camper. If you're a young tent camper, I guess it's ok, but they charged like it was a full service. One good note, the bathhouse had hot water and wasn't too crowded.

Great staff, fun adventures, awesome setup, and best of all easy too deal with super helpful people. Clean store with good prices and great selections. Clean surroundings, clean bathrooms as much clean as u would expect from a camp ground bathroom. Affordable camping and lodging great for families or get togethers . All boats are in good shape and clean and very very reasonably priced. Everything is a clean and solid run best management ever. The Manager is such a sweetheart and easy too talk too about concerns

We arrived and a group was camped on our site that we had reserved one month in advance. That was resolved when we returned from our kayak trip after a short wait. Not that big of a deal. We rented the inflatable kayaks that seemed to be in good shape. The equipment was good and we really enjoyed ourselves. Everyone was nice and helpful as far as the kayaking went. The problem we have with Hiwassee outfitters is how nasty the bathrooms were. They were gross and the campers use the same ones. I realize there is a lot of folks in and out during the day but they should be spot cleaned throughout the day which never happened. That's just good business. We thought they would get cleaned after the rafting was over but that didn't happen either. The urine stench was really bad and got worse through the evening. It was pretty gross. We left the next day at 11:00 am and nothing had been done. An elderly lady had sat a cleaning bucket in the bathroom and drug in a water hose. No cleaning. We just felt it showed a complete lack of respect for their customers and poor management. Come on folks get a pump up sprayer with lemon pine sol and spray it down and hose it off a couple of times a day! We were paying customers and guest at your place of business. I would bet money that no employee there uses the bathrooms. The mens anyway. The campgrounds were nice and I liked them. Next time we will stay somewhere else due to this.
