We were going to be in town for just a day, had no reservations and did not want to spend a ton of money, since we were leaving early the next morning. We found this on Yelp. Totally unexpected. These were student dormitories, very spartan. You share a bathroom. But even tho it was totally spare, no amenities to speak... More

Contrary to others on here I had a pleasant experience. I actually was looking to stay in the hostel near by but it was booked out. They put me through to these guys... I was a little worried when I approached the front door to this stately building (it's magnificent). The guy checking me in was very friendly. I was... More

As other reviews on this site and elsewhere have noted, rooms are spartan with worn furnishings. Bathrooms are shared with the next room and may not be clean. On my first night, I had to clean the toilet seat (probably from use by the person in the next room). A heating/AC vent between the two rooms brought all the sounds... More

While the location is terrific and the campus atmosphere is great the actual accommodation is worse than any hostel I've ever stayed in. I love to save money but would pay for a hotel next time. The single beds were tiny and very old - lumpy and smelled musty. The bathroom was marginally clean enough when we arrived and wasn't... More

We are just back from 4 nights at Scarritt-Bennett Center. Knew just what to expect from reading TripAdvisor reviews and were glad we scratched our original expensive hotel plans to stay there. I kept getting different feedback on whether we could walk downtown from S-B but we did it round trip twice and couple other times walked down to The... More

The Center is a sacred, spiritual place built in amazing architecture that one could not otherwise afford to stay in typically. Also, the Methodist Women who run the Center put any money you spend there towards great work, unlike a corporate stay. Its proximity to the Vanderbilt campus, particularly the Divinity/grad schools is unrivaled. The staff made me feel welcome... More

These reviews were right on, and I knew exactly what to expect. Check in after 3pm, check out at 10:30am, share a bathroom (but they try to arrange it so that you don't have to), & no regular maid service. A bit worn & old fashioned, but hey how much are you in the room? I had an upgraded room... More

Scarritt-Bennett is a converted dormatory on a (I think) former methodist campus. The architecture is stunning. It's across from the Vanderbuilt Campus and close to Music Row. The downside would the the room itself, which is - a converted dorm. Don't expect much. However, it is inexpensive. It's an extremely quiet place to get away from the party life of... More

I reserved a room here while I was in town for my best friend's wedding because it was inexpensive and the location was good. I reserved an upgraded room with 2 beds. I arrived at the hotel at 2:30pm and they would not let me in my room until 3:00pm, even though it was vacant and ready. When I walked... More

The primary advantage to this place is ready access to Vanderbilt Medical Center and Peabody. It'a a lovely former campus with ample free parking provided. I had the "upgraded" room, which included a small TV and in-room internet (not WiFi), but the room was small, had only a twin bed, and shared a bath with the adjacent room. Fortunately, the... More
