This beautiful gem of a church conversion is nestled inside a gorgeous residential neighborhood, making it easy to ensure a good night's rest. The location in East Nashville is highly accessible to surrounding points of interest. The property itself is lovely, clean and tidy throughout. The decor is thoughtful, colorful and comfort conscious.

We stayed in room 1:7 with a spacious layout and plenty of clever storage solutions. We were welcomed with a treat tray that was a very kind touch and a great way for us to sample some of the local treats. After a long drive, the goodies sure came in handy! I love that a church pew was turned into a very efficient headboard! The room had great light and when shades came down, sleep was sure to follow. The bed was firm and so very comfortable.

Our bathroom was quite spacious and the widows faced a neighbor's garden that was just beautiful. The bathrobes provided gave us the feeling of being hugged by a cloud. Another thoughtful splurge! The shower was spacious and bright. The vanity area around the pedestal sink gave us more than enough space to assemble our products for easy access during our stay. The gorgeous mirrors in the design of church windows were a unique touch. The products provided were excellent. My favorite was the hand soap. Creamy, smooth and a fragrance that was just delightful!

Throughout our stay we were in contact with hotel staff that were so helpful, considerate of our specific needs and quick to provide assistance and recommendations to options for restaurants-all via text. They did not miss a beat and really made us feel welcomed.

It gives us great pleasure to know that a portion of our stay will be given back to those who need it most within the surrounding community. We are happy to help!

We recently stayed at The Russell in the Tower suite – 2:T.  The stay was very different for my normal stay – I travel for work and am a Diamond member with a different hotel chain, so needless to say I was out of my comfort zone.

I am thrilled with my stay!  Check-in was very easy and the communication from the staff via email & text was clear and concise and easy to understand.

The décor is like no other place I have stayed.  Walking in, the lobby was decorated with inviting and unusual furniture that was surprisingly comfortable.  There was a unique mix between modern comforts and the artwork gave nods to the original church building and Nashville / country music heritage in a very Andy Warhol way.

The amenities of fresh coffee, tea, water and sparkling water were always available in common areas.   Every room contained the amenities you would expect – just elevated.  For instance, the bathroom had robes for our use, a clothes steamer and a Dyson hairdryer I was dying to try out in addition to Nashville specific treats – Goo Goo Cluster, snack bag from Music City Merchants, coffee, etc – these local additions gave me a feel of what it is like to live in Nashville.

Our room was incredible – a suite with 2 king beds (in separate areas) and an entertaining area.  We chose to sleep in the bed literally in a tower – I believe the old church bell tower.  The Russell was kind enough to provide sleep masks if the skylights in the tower woke us up too early.

My stay at The Russell has opened my eyes to boutique hotels.  What I mean, is that before, I would have just booked my normal chain hotel, and now whether for business or vacation, I will always stay at The Russell when visiting Nashville, especially since part of my stay supports the homeless in Nashville.  A huge thanks to the Russell for not only an amazing hotel experience, but your dedication to giving back and making our world a better place.

The Russell was everything we wanted and MORE! We were very moved by the Rooms for Rooms program, which prompted our stay, and were happy with what we found upon arrival. Immaculately clean and very beautiful and welcoming shared spaces (free coffee, vending and seating). The parking lot across from the hotel was well lit and well secured (cameras everywhere), and easy access with a keypad to the hotel. Our room was cutely decorated, with unbelievably comfortable pillows/bed (we didn't even use the pillows we brought!). Booking, check-in and check-out were so easy, thanks to the polite and friendly hotel staff (easy to reach via phone or text). In a great location, walkable/2 min drive to some great restaurants and/or bars. We can't wait to come back! HIGHLY recommend.

This self described boutique hotel is housed in a former church with a nice stained glass window. The large lobby really lacked any charm, and was a relatively cold/impersonal space to passthrough, as there were never any staff to greet you or interact with. This contactless experience might be fine for an Air B&B, but when you're paying the rates for a boutique hotel ($247/night), customers should expect more services.

Moreover, guests staying for more than one night will need their trash cans emptied, beds cleaned/made, and fresh linens provided (used wash cloths on vacation?) especially considering the high price points, at or above the nicer hotels in the downtown area closer to tourist attractions. The proprietress/manager did respond to texts but needs to really re-consider whether their price point is aligned with the services offered.

Hi @GlobeTrotterSC! We cannot thank you enough for choosing our hotel for your stay in Nashville. As you can see from our almost perfect guest ratings, we take customer satisfaction and experience very seriously and were disappointed to see your review as our goal is a 5 star experience for all guests. Regarding you feeling disappointed and misled, we make sure that our website and all of our listings have pictures of the specific room our guests are booking and our list of what we do and do not offer, so there is no confusion on what they are and are not getting. Depending on the price range, we have a spectrum of rooms to offer and we are confident we are fairly priced for the amazing quality and service we offer in the market. We are a boutique hotel with contactless check in/out and that is one of many reasons people choose to stay with us. Our guests love the fact that they do not have to waste time waiting in lines to check in and can come and go as they please. If you stayed with us, you have received multiple emails before your arrival that were showcasing our business model and an email that has specifically generated a unique code for you to access your room. From a customer perspective, we personally reach out to every of our guests upon their arrival to answer any question they may have. We always want to go above and beyond for our guests! We are so sad to hear that you didn’t feel that way. We thank you for being a part of our mission of giving back to our community. The majority of our profits go directly to Nashville’s homeless community and we are thankful for guests like you that allow us to do that.

The building is gorgeous both inside and out. Not only have they maintained the history of the church physically but also spiritually by giving back to the community. The common area is not only adorned with the sunlight through stained glass windows but tastefully decorated and perfectly clean. A complimentary coffee and tea station, work/computer area, photo booth, phone booth and snack machine completes the area. I was pleasantly surprised to see high quality bathrobes and complimentary snacks from local companies. There is a parking area right outside the door for hotel guests only which saves you from fighting for street parking.
Before my arrival I received my front door code and room code via email as well as contact information if I needed anything during my stay. During my stay I received another email titled “just checking in” to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I have never stayed at a hotel that was as quiet and relaxing as here. I can not say enough wonderful things about The Russell Hotel. This is the only place I will stay in Nashville from now on!

My husband and I have stayed here twice, each time in a different room. November 2019, we stayed in a much larger room than the one we did in 2020. This year’s room was very small, but I blame that on myself for not checking the square footage. However, we weren’t in the room enough to feel claustrophobic. It was a good size for what we needed it for. The coffee in the foyer is always welcoming and it is downright beautiful. The stained glass windows are mesmerizing and the rooms each have their own special color scheme and touches. You are provided plush robes, a Dyson hair dryer, and a fabric steamer, which is much appreciated during the stay. Personally, we’ve decided whenever we visit Nashville, this will be our go to stay. We love The Russell and we love how some of the profit goes toward something good, especially in the hardship of 2020. You won’t be disappointed!!

The Russell just makes me happy. The lobby space is incredible with gorgeous colors and design and a welcoming coffee bar. Our room was beautiful with a comfortable bed made with a church pew headboard and a bright red tiled bathroom that wakes up the senses. The hair dryer and steamer were great and the toiletries and goodies basket were a delight. And a portion of proceeds go to help the homeless in Nashville!

A few weeks ago my wife and I were stir crazy after having worked at home for several weeks as a result of the pandemic. We were in need of a change of scenery that didn’t require a flight or several hours in the car so we opted for a staycation at The Russell located in historic East Nashville. Since The Russell has contactless check-in we were immediately at ease with our decision to book. Upon arrival everything we needed from bathrobes, snacks from local shops, slippers, additional blankets and towels had already been placed in our room. They also provided a complete guide of all restaurants within walking distance so we were able to call and place our dinner order and pick it up which was awesome since restaurants still weren’t seating at the time. They made everything so convenient for us and they provide free on-site parking!

As a Nashville resident I was most impressed with the interior. They converted a church built in the 1920’s into a hotel and it’s obvious that they took the time to make sure every space reflected the city's personality past and present. As soon as you walk in you can’t help but feel like you might be at The Ryman because of the bold stained glass and vaulted ceilings they were able to preserve. Every inch of this historic building tells a story, we spent the first hour just exploring the property!

We’ll definitely be back!

There was no expense spared in updating this hotel! Beautiful restored, original stained glass from this building is STUNNING with the sun shining through in the morning! Rooms are stunningly simple and the bathrooms are tiled in great colors and are gloriuous to shower and primp in the morning.

Great selections of high end teas in lobby with HONEY (yes, real) !

Snacks in room are FREE???? and are local companies. The Colts Bolt peanut butter cup was to DIE for and the Grab the Gold bar will be a go to purchase when I return home.

My son asked to return to TN just to stay in The Russell again. That is a huge compliment you Russell staff!!!
