I took my son, daughter in law and kids out for dinner to the Alpine retreat hotel in Warburton, the kids had chips & nuggets, while the adults had porterhouse steak, it all tasted very nice, unfortunately my daughter in law found some hair in her meal, she spoke to the manager about it, and the cost of the meal... 2 hours waiting for a soup on a quiet Sunday afternoon and this is it.... What a shame, rude staff, over priced, dirty tablecloths, food still on seats from last customers and over certainly rated with one star. What a crying shame.... So much potential could be had in this beautiful heritage building alas I have nothing good to say... More

Great meals and very reasonable prices... the alpine burger with fries was only $17 and delicious. Bookings are essential.. we were there on Sat and Sun night for dinner and both nights were very busy.

As we entered the hotel we where greeted by a dirty carpet smell it is a very distinctive smell and stays with you for awhile as we went up to our room we could see that there was a lot of renovating going on and re carpeting of hallways. Room was clean, old and in need of an upgrade. Overall... More

We found this Hotel to be a cheap and cheerful overnight stay when we did the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail recently. The hotel has lots of different room types. Choose one with river views. This is not a high-standard hotel, but is undergoing some renovation/repainting. Whilst the beds were comfortable, the carpet in our room was dirty and needed a bit... More

My first impression was mixed. From the outside it does not look like much and once inside you can see why. My senses where immediately responsive to an unforgettable foul stale bar odor. However, one does become accustomed by the distraction of the interior nuance. Check in is at the bar and efficient. My room, although adequate, was a bit... More

My husband booked months in advance ahead of an event (when there were plenty of rooms available) but he failed to mention that he would like to reserve one of their nicer rooms. We were given the worst room possible and when we checked in we were not able to change it. I was shocked that they would allocate their... More

I booked the cheapest room at $50, it was small and cozy with enough room for a cupboard, a sink and a double bed. The sink was blocked and full of water, I reported this to the manager he upgraded my to an en-suite room for free! The whole place is very dated and could probably do with a renovation... More

Reasonable prices, decent beer on tap and a range of interesting food (many gluten free) made this our restaurant of choice in Warburton. Surroundings are a bit dated but was made up for by the Coat of Arms (Emu and Kangaroo) and the pulled pork schnitzel, one of the most succulent I have ever had.

This old hotel is basic for sure, but the food was fantastic, I gambled on a fish dish! nowhere near the sea....the chef cooked this dish to a surprising level, the salad was very fresh with a nice dressing, my partner had steak which was so tender and perfectly cooked, a really nice surprise! well done!. The rooms are basic... More
