We dined with friends on a recent Friday night. The restaurant was only sparsely populated so the waitress was quite attentive. The menu was somewhat limited and the meals were expensive. my meal came with a salad. The "salad" comprised of a few small lettuce leaves and some sliced onion. This was contained in a small finger bowl. So I... More

After reading Alexandria R's review, I am wondering if we were at the same Hotel because our experience seems to be at polar opposites to hers. The meal and experience we had, was exemplary. My husband had the Beef Cheek which was one of the Specials on offer and I had the Barramundi Fish and Chips. Both were amazing. I'm... More

We recently visited the Royal Hotel in Mornington for my birthday. A unique hotel built in the 1860's ( I think) was several notches above other hotels we have visited. It was wonderful to see linen tablecloths and napkins, the service was attentive and helpful. The ambience was refreshing the view of the bay at sunset was stunning, and although... More

Went to the Royal hotel for my birthday on Saturday recommendation of my husband. The restaurant was empty except for a table of people in the front corner. For some absurd reason we were seated one table over from them. The sever was polite and helpful even if she didn't seem to understand how to pronounce confit correctly. We weren't... More

The excellence in service is only part of the overall experience in eating here. I started with the brains not to everyone's liking however these achieved 10 out of 10. Followed up with osso bocco another 10 the decor 10 and as first mentioned service you guessed it 10. A lovely experiance. You do pay for it but hey its... More

Wasn't first port of call but as other hotel we went to closed their bar early this was our second stop. A good atmosphere but a little cramped for style. More selection of beer than use to at our other local. Not a bad spot actually. Would return

Beautiful old hotel with a stunning view. It seems like it has been renovated slightly but doesn't seem to fit. Nice old dinning room with a MacBook on a box to book you in and then up to the mirrored desk office to check in. I found an old bottle of wine next to the bed which was good for... More

Found the Royal Hotel by chance and booked a room for 1 night. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was upstairs (no elevator) with old original French doors out onto the balcony overlooking the sea. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely linen and bedding. We slept well, even though the doors are not exactly noise or windproof!... More

Had not been to this hotel for years, went the other night with family, 12 in all, and had a wonderful night, menu very extensive and the food was great, staff very helpful, and could not fault anything, I will definitely be going back.

Second visit for dinner and the food was delicious both times. Very friendly staff. Have not been here in a long time due to bad experiences in the past but it seems that now they have worked it out. The chef is fantastic and we will visit again. We enjoyed the mussels which we locally sourced and the seafood pasta.... More
