On a mystery anniversary weekend we arrived at Barnsley House and were welcomed by Eileen and Steve and after settling in were invited for afternoon tea in the Conservatory. What a delight with fresh scones, jam and cream. Our Albert Lodge was divine with king bed and ensuite. Nothing was any trouble for Steve and Eileen and our breakfast service...

The house and garden are only surpassed by the friendliness and welcome of the owners, Eileen and Steve. The house is decorated in an English country style that is fitting for the town. It is impeccably clean and comfortable; the breakfast was delicious. The beds were comfortable - we stayed on our way to the Great Ocean Road and back...

We only stayed for one night as we were travelling on to Melbourne and it left us thinking we would have liked to have extended our stay. We were warmly welcomed and settled into a most comfortable room. We wanted to see something more of Beechworth and were soon supplied with all the information we needed. We had a quick...

We stayed with Eileen and Steve for one night on our drive from Camberra to Melbourne. Our stay was delightful; it was like staying in a home during Victorian times. The room was clean, comfortable and the Barnsley House is a short walk into town so no need to find parking in town. The breakfast was lovely and we had...

Our most recent visit was a little different from our previous trips in that we brought along my 90-year-old mother-in-law. Steve and Eileen were, as always, extremely kind, and completely unfazed by the special...

Very pleasant old house, with engaging and friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast. Very clean room. Had a hot night but the air conditioning was very effective. Period charm. GreT place for a stopover or to explore the area.

Despite arriving early for our one night stay, we were warmly met by Eileen - served a lovely cuppa with cake and some great chitchat! Our room was super with a lovely comfy bed & French doors leading to the delightful garden. The house is superbly maintained & Uber spotless! Steve's garden is a microcosm of Versailles! Thanks for a...

We traveled down to Beechworth for a couple of days to meet up with Eric Bogle who was performing at the Nicolas Hotel (great venue!) and booked into Barnsley House due to recommendations from family who had stayed there in the past. What a great tip that turned out to be. Gracious old lady (the house...) with luxurious accommodation, lovely...
