    Home away from home.
We have stayed at the Monteagle Inn for years since our son attended The University of the South. It’s always been a pleasure. Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms and very pleasant atmosphere. They have a room stocked with snacks, ice cream and cold water. The breakfast is made to order, always delicious. There are limited hotel options in the area and I feel that it is the best.

    Beautiful and welcoming Inn
My husband and I have visited the Monteagle Inn frequently over the past 6 years. We enjoy escaping the heat and traffic of the big city and relaxing on Monteagle Mountain. While in the area, we love to hike and check out waterfalls and poke around in the small shops of Monteagle and Sewanee. However, the real highlight of our trip is staying at the Inn. When I walk in the front door of the Monteagle Inn, I immediately feel as if I've been transported to Tuscany and I can practically feel my blood pressure return to a normal rate. The owners, Jim and Lee, are welcoming, kind, funny and extremely helpful. They are available for anything you may need and assist you with a smile. It's been a joy to get to know them over the years. The owners are also wine enthusiasts and host sophisticated and delicious wine pairing dinners. Afterward, you can sit by the fireplace, curl up with a book on a comfy sofa, enjoy the beautiful back patio or relax on a rocking chair on the front porch before you fall into your crisp, clean and comfortable bed. The breakfast is delicious too! I can't say enough good things about the Monteagle Inn.

    Very Relaxing
We had a very relaxing time at the end. All the employees we encountered were super helpful. The room was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was great and there are plenty of seating options for social distancing and the fact that the inn only has 14 rooms also helps with this.

We loved our one night stay at this homey little Inn. First, I had a helpful person work with me by phone to book the best room for our needs. We were warmly greeted by staff who take pride in their work and in the facility and given a quick tour that included info in all the free snacks and drinks we’d ever need. The fresh breakfast including made to order eggs and crisp bacon was outstanding. Coffee on the front porch was wonderful. Accommodations are simple but provided everything we needed including glasses and a wine opener and everything was very clean. It is not luxury but that’s not the goal - instead, it’s comfortable and familiar with an environment and staff designed to simply put guests at ease. Well done!

I am from New England, the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. I am familiar with Country Inns, Bed and Breakfasts. The Monteagle Inn and Retreat Center is a wonderful example of what a country inn should provide. Our room,Grundy Lake, was nicely furnished and decorated as if you were staying at a friends home. The morning aroma of breakfast being prepared made me feel like I was at home. The complimentary snack amenities provided as well as the available refrigerator for guest use made it easy to keep our oat milk cold. We were in Monteagle for a celebrationof life and the annual 07/04 picnic at the assembly across the street so the location was perfect. Richard and his staff were friendly, helpful, always smiling. This is a great place. Very comfortable in every sense. Would return again and again. Thank you so much! Christie Rolon and Gregg Lane

It always feels like home when I stay here. They know you by name and treat you like family. I love the breakfast and sitting on the front porch to relax. The robe in the room is the most comfortable and I keep saying I'm going to buy one. Plus all the snacks and drinks they have out 24/7. We love this place!

Big “husband points” as my wife and I loved our getaway here. Beautiful inside and out and very hospitable. Relaxing. Great dinner at High Point and fine breakfast at the Inn. Clean and comfortable. We’ll be back soon!

The Monteagle Inn is such a special place. It is beautiful inside and out and the attendant on duty was precious! She called me by name each time we spoke and made every guest feel special! The breakfast was delicious and very filling. Our room did have a leaky pipe and they offered to fix it, but we just put down towels. It wasn't a big deal. The amenities are superb and it's just a wonderful, cozy place. We plan to stay here again. The finishing touches really make the place stand out and the Christmas decorations are amazing!
