We recently stayed in Milebrook House Hotel in early June. We had intended to stay 3 nights but quickly changed our minds to 6 nights. We settled into a lovely comfy setting with helpful and enjoyable staff. The owners were welcoming and as first time visitors to the UK,

I have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels, some big, some small but I have never had such a warm welcome as I experienced at Milebrook House. The attention to detail is superb with the owners Zoe and James ensuring you receive the very best treatment. The food

Friendly owners Zoe and James greeted us when checking in and we were shown up to a lovely room with a view over the lush green hills. We loved the location on the border of Wales and England. The hotel is set in 4 acres of extensive gardens, woods and rolling hills with

My girlfriend and I spent a very pleasant weekend at Milebrook House at the beginning of June. The establishment is delightful with a mature herbaceous garden on one side and games lawn on the other. The location is perfect, set at the foot of the Shropshire Hills. The food was

On arrival, the Meet & Greet by the owners was one of complete dismissal. We had a hap-hazard but friendly greeting from the receptionist. Our room was a good size, plenty of light, pretty bathroom and all was clean - but - towels on the bed, don't they belong in a bathroom? The

Response from MilebrookHouse, Owner at Milebrook House Hotel
Responded 2 weeks ago
Dear Guest, What a ridiculous, unpleasant, crude and overly dramatic response….. and surprising considering our average review is 9.5 out of 10 across the booking portals…. I admit it was a particularly busy couple of days as we are being filmed for a tv documentary and unfortunately could not provide 100% entertainment or constant attention to you throughout the day, but as you can see previous guests have found our staff and ourselves as owners, very responsive and attentive. I do recall you entering the bar, even though the bar was not actually open at that time. It was obvious we were filming in the bar, despite this you decided to barge in which was quite rude as it was closed at the time. On a Sunday evening we close at 11pm and kept the bar open until 12pm just for you, but it seems that too was not enough. You mention not having enough access to alcohol twice, perhaps there is an issue there…. as none of the other guests complain about the opening hours of the bar. Regarding your comment of us going out for lunch, we were in fact giving guests a lift to catch a train. It is very hard to start and run a new business, as you yourself should know, we have both worked in multinational companies, managing business with over one hundred million pounds turn over, we are more than capable. I think your constitution must be particularly delicate to be disturbed by my foot steps, we work 16 hour days and I’m afraid I must ‘walk around my own hotel’ and manage the business myself, I am afraid there is no other way, it seems even my walking disturbs you…. As for your comment about self importance, I think you must be projecting your own on to me, perhaps you wanted a spot on camera as well, you could have just asked. I always believe the guests come first here, it is a shame you do not feel that way. I think you maybe more comfortable to the pub atmosphere you mentioned, where they are open all hours, perhaps at the horse and jockey next time for you. You do bump into all sorts of people in this business, here are some of our other reviews below, as you can see these are more the normal reviews we receive. I do wish you a wonderful rest of the week, thank you again for your thoughtful and supportive review. It’s good to know that new a business in wales that are trying to provide jobs for the people of this part of the world, are so welcomed and supported, and not slammed for trying something new. Thanks again. Owners, Milebrook House
