Called in for a drink and a sandwich to break my journey, found the staff having to cope with no running water due to a burst water main. They were cheerful and very helpful, my order was taken and served quickly. The staff directed me to the emergency chemical toilet apologising for the inconvenience. The food was really nicely presented... More

We were a large party but they fitted us in at short notice and looked after us really well. It was a busy Friday evening but the staff made sure that we all had what we needed and the service was quick and efficient. Food was cheap and cheerful pub food, with some great 'specials' and we all enjoyed our... More

Friendly, helpful staff, good beer. Reasonably priced home made pub food and good portions.. If you like a busy local pub with large TV screen this could be for you. There is a separate dining area which was quieter if you waned to get away from the bar.area. However, if you like your home comforts you may be disappointed. Our... More

The food here is really outstanding with generous proportions I had the local lamb and my partner had the real ale pie and both were delicious. It was also nice to have real potato chips with the meal. The deserts were also original and gorgeous. What made our stay here so enjoyable though was the friendly staff and atmosphere.

Well. I found this accommodation on Booking.com when planning a few days visiting the local narrow gauge railways. I had a warm welcome and the room was comfortable. The steak and Guinness pie was excellent. However the room was just stuffed full of unnecessary things. Someone had obviously seen a makeover show and thought that all this tat was necessary... Although the room was only £70.00 per night it was in fact very overpriced for what we got. The room was dreadful!,A carpet which you did not want to walk on, a tiny TV, lamp shades which were tatty, no double glazing, shabby thin curtains, A bed that was years past its use by date.To be honest it was THE... Good pub food. Steak was very good. Staff very friendly. Not as cheap as you would expect. There is a large car park at the rear and a small beer garden. Good variety of real ales too. Guiness was good too.

My self and a few friends needed accommodation near Aberdovey so we opted for the White Lion in Machynlleth. It turned out to be a really good choice. Booking in via the bar was good as we had a beer as well! The bar area is a real pub, although a little run down, it was welcoming and comfy. We... More

This is a characterful former coaching inn in the town centre right by the bus stops and with the station a ten-minute walk away. I stayed here four nights while walking the adjacent sections of the Wales Coast Path. My room was modern and comfortable, and I enjoyed hearing the chimes from Machynlleth's famous clock!

It's a nice local pub... Standard food - beer Ok - staff are friendly enough,The boss likes to mingle with everyone - doesn't really do much apart from that. The place could do with a 'pick me up' feels a little paint wouldn't go a miss here and there - The toilets are okay... Again need some touching up on... More
