We booked Lake Vrynwy Hotel for our wedding anniversary. We had never been before. The setting is magnificent, there is something very King Arthur and Avalon about looking out early on a fine summer day with the mist rising over the lake.......The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the dinner we had on Sunday night was superb. The service... More

Absolutely stunning location and views. Food was good and well priced with lovely staff. However, they did feel under staffed and we had to go and ask for things like coffee at breakfast. Spa treatments were wonderful, again with wonderful staff. For the price you pay (around £200 a night), the rooms felt a little dated and £10 per person... More

Pros - perfect setting, fabulous scenery , pleasant staff, rooms airy and comfortable , breakfast good. Cons - odd decor - stuffed animals aren't my thing! Evening meal completely forgettable, room reeked of cigarettes and no lifts meant dragging a suitcase through a thick -carpet labyrinth of fire doors and staircases ! In short, a must-see scenic delight in a... More

For 12 years we have stayed at Lake Vyrnwy hotel and it is still as nice now as the first time. The location is tranquil and the view across the lake is never the same. The staff are excellent and are always friendly. This time however there has been a change to the tavern bar, the pool table and other... More

We 2 adults and a child dropped in for a drink after a day exploring the area . It was very quiet but they were expecting a busy evening for dinner . We didn't stay at the hotel but it looked welcoming and with good facilities . It is worth stopping by for a drink on the terrace overlooking a... More

My wife and I recently had lunch at the Lake Vrynwy Hotel. I noticed to my surprise that the Ploughman's Lunch is offered with pork pie OR cheese. I opted for the pork pie and was astonished at the resulting platter: - a whole pork pie - three hefty slices of brown bread [bread AND crust of a whole pie?]... More

Oh how we love Trip Advisor, and all food blogging experts contained therein. On reading your review we wondered how many yeomen farmers of Britain ploughing the furrow would recognise feta cheese, spring onions or peppers and olives. We find it difficult to apologise for the temerity of offering a whole hand-made pork pie from our local butchers, nor indeed... More

The hotel is in a beautiful location, overlooking the Lake Vernwy, we had a premier lake view with the addition of a balcony, which was great to sit out and take in the scenery. The room was very clean as was the large bathroom, both had the usual amenities, coffee tea and toiletries. The evening meal was excellent, plenty of choice... More

Room was fantastic, large and roomy, four comfy chairs, balcony and chairs and table there, we were lucky and had gorgeous weather so we could sit out. More tea, coffee and hot chocolate were given also biscuits and water, still and sparkling. Great.

Back from a night at this hotel set in beautiful grounds with an amazing lake view. The staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble for you. The only downside is the cobwebs, they are everywhere, I know it's an old house but.... Would revisit regardless

Thank you for taking the time to pen your review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. Unfortunately the drawbacks of living in the mountains of Mid-Wales, we do have to deal with the odd creature making its way into the hotel and giving our housekeeping team more work to do, but I would like to apologise... So much potential but so disappointing. Rather than maintaining the current rooms more rooms and buildings have taken priority. The rooms are certainly not 4*. Our particular room was tired, hot and VERY noisy! The manager was highly apologetic which took the edge off the disappointment. The view from the restaurant is exceptional and the food was very nice.
