Return Visit. Absolutely terrible. The meat - pork and turkey, small in portion and odd bits, fatty. The Yorkshire limp and bought in The vegetables were disgusting, basically all tasting the same! Which is strange with cauliflower cheese! I had to leave a third as a disgrace and did not want to feel ill. Most vegetables tasted of vinegar. The... More

I've used this title as it appears that people are forgetting this when reviewing! The twice my husband spoke on the telephone to staff they were friendly and accommodating. The lady behind the bar was very helpful and offered a warm welcome. We went to the room, number 9 and it was very clean and tidy. I won't disagree that... More

Before our return journey to Worcester we stopped off for something to eat in Lampeter. We chose the Castle Hotel and we all enjoyed our meals. No complaints from anyone. The food was well cooked and well presented. The staff where attentive and polite. Would eat there again if in the area. Many thanks to all the staff. Try it... More

Travelling late down to South Wales, chose to stop over to take a break, Hotel was accommodating when we phoned and managed to get a room so late at night. Some real ales in the bar The decor in hall and room is very outdated, woodchip on the walls (Pulp) The carpets should have been changed 20 years ago Plastic... More

Sunday lunch review Same chef. There was a choice of 4 meats. Carved by the chef. The meat was excellent my only criticism is the amount is decided by the chef. The vegetables are self service. Really excellent. Except for the roast potatoes which were soggy and not crisp. The carrots, cabbage and swede excellent as was the boiled potatoes.... More

I booked a coach party for the second time for a carvery after leaving a day in Aberyswyth as it was so good last time , we weren't disappointed. We had another lovely meal with friendly service. We paid £9.00 a head for a good meal and wide choice of desserts.

The second time that a large group of us have stopped here en route from a day out for a carvery meal. It was just as good the second time. Food was not put out until we arrived and was piping hot,not what you experience at most carveries, like warm at best, even though I was the last but one... More

A good choice of meats but the amount was given, not asked. Hardly what is expected. The vegetables were self service. How any chef can make carrots, swede and boiled potatoes taste so bland. The Yorkshire was limp and a disgrace. The boiled were all yellow on the outside! Overall no more than a works canteen. Plenty of other places... More

OMG a TV location managers dream of a place...what a perfect place to take a loved one on that well deserved "Themed Mystery" mini break or a quick get-away for the weekend. The rooms pay a stunning homage to the 1970's hit show "Rising Damp".. from the push taps in the bathroom to the great stains on the carpet.. the... More

I was in Lampeter last week to visit a friend who is at Uni. We spent an afternoon in The Castle Hotel. Traditional pub but what made it was the fantastic barmaid (I wish I'd got her name). Extremely welcoming and knowledgable on the local ales.
