My daughter and I try to visit a different castle hotel each year for an overnight stay. This is the most disappointing stay to date. The castle gates and sweeping driveway up to the castle are very impressive, as is the reception area. Our check-in was efficient and helpful. However.......... The overall impression is that the place is 'grubby' and... More

We came on the dinner breakfast and stay deal for £199. We enjoyed the spa faculties and found the beautician there very kind helpful and welcoming. Check in wasn't fantastic we found very little information on anything from the girl. The service in restaurant and bar was professional and efficent and friendly. The food was fabulous in the evening. Breakfast... More

Food disappointing especially as gourmet break. Menu was limited but roughly only two of the options for each course didn't include a supplement. Total supplement costs was 23.00. Sat down for meal at 8pm and menu said everything cooked to order so expect delays but we had finished our starter and main corse by 8.30 and we were being asked... More

We stayed at Ruthin Castle Hotel and Spa for one of the themed Medieval Banquet nights. The hotel is a stunning castle in beautiful grounds, the decor and rooms are all appropriately themed, from Tudor pictures, chandeliers, and a large portrait of Henry 8th. Our room was gorgeous, with a gold double bed and amazing large corner bath. The Medieval... More

Loved it a beautiful and interesting place. Staff were lovely and helpful. Room and bathroom where nice and clean. The Town was a short walk away with little shops and a few cafe's and pubs. A must stay for anyone

Stayed here on a Sunday night on a bed and breakfast basis. The castle is set in beautiful surroundings. We had a walk in the gardens and there are some great views. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The peacocks in the gardens were a nice surprise. The bar area was nice and they had a good selection... More

The hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly and the hotel is set in lovely surroundings. However, the rooms are in need of refurbishment and a good clean. The paintwork is peeling and the walls are marked. Housekeeping could be improved upon as the spoons and cups in our room were soiled and I had to wash them before use... More

We stayed in this hotel partly because of it's proximity to Llamgollen, where we attended the Eistedfod, the Annual Music Festival. The nineteenth century building and much older castle ruins were set in beautiful parkland with mature trees, perfectly trimmed lawns including a croquet lawn and tastefully placed chairs and tables for the use of guests. The staff were wonderful,... More
