Had a lovely short break at this hotel. The staff were the winning element of this trip as right from the word go they were helpful, welcoming and friendly. The food in the Library Room was delicious, especially the sharing platter - definitely recommended. We ate in Bertie's Restaurant in the evening where the food was tasty, if a little... More

Great Party, place was lovely, staff pleasant and on hand all the time, room was well equipped with lovely Bathroom but down side was it was roasting hot in the room and no bottled water provided. Breakfast was very nice and lots of choice. Views are lovely with peacocks a plenty showing off their colours. If you walk into town... More

Stayed in the prince of Wales suite for a special occasion. The staff wer excellent. I let on to them in advance that it was a special occasion and they went the extra mile with some complimentary rose petals and pillow spray which they didn't have to do. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. A couple of things let... More

I booked the Jennie Suite for my other half’s 30th and find people complaining about a piece of history such as Ruthin Castle bewildering. If you want standardised features throughout then look at Premier Inn. The building and grounds are full of traditional charm and character, the ruins are a step back in time and the period decorations and concealed... More

Booked for one night but stayed only for a few hours. The website promised so much but unfortunately did not live up to expectations. Whilst I understand it is an old building and only so much can be done, such things as heating (particularly whilst semi-naked in the spa area), threadbare robes, dirty sinks and a hoover of the reception... Just had a lovely stay in the hotel! we checked in easily and efficiently. Our room was large but warm and welcoming! As part of our offer we had a cream tea was really nice, staff friendly but she did take my plate of jam/cream away before I had finished! she whipped it away before I had chance to say... More

I marvel at people complaining when a listed building like this is a little 'tatty' and 'run down'! Book into a Marriott or a Hilton if you want matching lamp shades. We loved the cosy little corners with real fires in places. Mismatched but period decorations and chairs added to the charm. The staff and owners of the hotel are... More

Bit of a mixed experience - the grounds and buildings were impressive as you drive up and there is plenty of parking. The main hotel areas have a nice feel to them and they are obviously trying to tidy up the place with painting etc. Good wifi. Our room had been recently decorated and was nice but very small which... More

The staff were fantastic, there's nothing more they could have done, apart from find out how to turn on the heating. We had a great stay and the food was fantastic. However the regular power cuts (reducing the room to pitch darkness and resetting the heating to icy blasts of cold air) weren't conducive to a comfortable stay. The grounds... More

We were lucky enough this year to have as a present from our daughter, a really special meal at Ruthin Castle. We really looked forward to this. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to enjoy what was supposed to be a beautiful £60 meal for two! Instead the choice was limited in all courses and although the soup was... More
