My partner bought me (us) a three night stay in the castle at Portmeirion for Christmas. Wow, the penthouse is superb. Huge bed, 2 TV's, Sofa, table & chairs, balcony, underfloor heating, kitchenette, etc, etc. The room was lovely, breakfast was hot & fresh, bar was welcoming with a huge open fire, staff were lovely, minibus always available to take you... We got married at Castell Deudraeth 10 years ago (it was AMAZING!). We decided to come back for this special anniversary. The penthouse hasn't changed at all. Still a lovely space. We did feel that the suite could have benefitted from a docking station (or some device to play music other than via TV radio). The bathroom also could be... More

We stayed in Fountain 2 , one of the apartments in Portmeirion and this was wonderful but as the hotel itself was closed we had to eat in Castell Deudraeth. The mini-bus service which we could call to take us back and fore to the Castell was run very efficiently. Our experience of the food and service in the Castell... More

Hotel rooms are spacious and well appointed, much larger than your average hotel room, with a small kitchenette area and two sofa's in front of the gas fire. The bathroom is nicely done though the shower is a bit temperamental and the bath too short. The public areas are lovely with a roaring fire in the lounge area, we stayed... More

A faux castle, but very fitting and recommended if Portmeirion in Wales is your destination. We stayed in the penthouse, which is huge and probably wasted if you aren't going to be here for more than a quick overnight stay. The staff are well-trained, friendly and make you feel very welcome and special - always a huge bonus in this... More

My wife and I was moved to another table part way through the meal, to seat a regular. You get better service in Mc D's. Food OK, about average, that's about it. Nice lounge with a large real fire, that was nice.

This is our 14th visit to Portmerion despite being local! We usually stay in the village or the hotel, but this year we fancied a change. The rooms in the Castell are much bigger and of course modern compared to the hotel. The service, as always is excellent and the staff work extremely hard to ensure that all your needs... More

This was our 9th stay at Portmeirion, this time at Castell Deudraeth. We’ve stayed in the Penthouse previously which was our best ever Christmas. This November for our anniversary as we were married at Portmeirion we stayed in Castle 8 for 3 nights which was a fantastic grand room with everything that you could possibly wish for. We had breakfast... More

We have just stayed here for a weekend with another couple and had a very good experience overall. The price was £80 pppn for a huge suite, dinner, bed and breakfast, entry to the village and use of the free minibus service. The dinner allowance was £30 per person but all drinks and coffee were extra. We thought it was... More

Ate here with my parents and children on 5th August. Three of us couldn't eat our meals the food was so bad. The burgers in particular were inedible. Staff did not question when they came to collect plates why three of the plates were virtually untouched. The meal was expensive anyway, but particularly so in light of the awful food... More
