Ok - I have read some of the reviews - it is a pub and it has rooms - the rooms and showers - looked liked there had been a refurb recently - certainly they looked sharp ! Breakfast was either a full welsh or continental - either way it was lovely - the full welsh was freshly made and the toast and coffee was flowing ! Very nice - The pub had some great beers and some great friendly and informative staff ! The walk into Monmouth was easy - and a subway gets you under the busy main road ! On the flip side - it is on a busy road and on the night we stayed it was very very warm and the windows were open - so you heard the road noise and also a generator of some sort - As four friends - we loved the hotel - it was a good price and easy reach of Monmouth ! The car park was safe So a thumbs up !

Stayed for 3 nights bed and breakfast only. Disappointed that no meals available. Our room was clean and adequate but being on a busy road, we found it rather noisy. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Although stated as a hotel, the accommodation is a more of a pub with rooms. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. The location is good, just about ½ mile walk into town. We stayed for 6 nights; our room was located on the top floor (room 2). The room has a TV with free view channels and a sitting chair, as well as a small table with tea and coffee facilities. The bed takes quite a bit of the room not leaving much space for luggage and the door to the shower room is quite tight to the bed. The room to us felt a bit tired but was clean. The shower cubicle is a lovely size, but the shower water pressure was intermittent, and a few times stopped working mid shower for 10 to 20 seconds or the pressure dropped considerable. The shower head also had a couple of missing rubber nozzles. As the temperatures was warm during our stay, the room got very hot. There is a tower fan in the room, which helped but not enough, so it meant keeping the window open at night and being a pub, some nights were quite noisy up to closing time just gone 23:00 hours. The road next to the Mayhill is also quite a major route for lorries which added to noise. The house keeping only involved replenishing the tea and coffee supplies, each afternoon we had to ask for clean towels (excluding one day), but the staff always brought them up straight away. There was plenty of places to park when we arrived, and we were given a place to store our bikes during our stay. There are benches outside which was nice to sit and have drinks.

Very good value and comfortable stay. Clean, friendly and a good breakfast. Room has everything you need for a few nights. Pub downstairs very pleasant to sit for a beer or two. Breakfast included and really good. Full Welsh or Continental. Plentiful and good quality. The free parking on the edge of town is really handy (parking in the town centre is a bit of a mare). Good spot for a bit of walking, down the one way down the river to Hadnock and a swingy temporary bridge across the river, or down the other way in the Chespstow direction to the old iron bridge about half a mile down Redbrook Road (look for the footpath to the right past the school playing fields), and then on for a riverbank or trainline wood walk to Redbrook and one of the best pubs in the UK the Boat. Only slight downside is the outside traffic from fairly early on. Not a problem to me but light sleepers might find it a bit annoying.

We loved the location because we could walk into Monmouth in 10 minutes. We also had parking for our car at the hotel. We had a very comfortable, clean room with plenty of room for our things. The monsoon shower was spacious and easy to use. There was a kettle with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and TV. Stuart’s cooked Welsh breakfast was really delicious, varied and used local products. All the staff are very efficient and made us feel at home.
