What a lovely little find. We were greeted by the most welcoming staff, shown around and got to choose what time we had our cooked breakfast the next morning, taking into account any allergies and dietary requirements. When we got to the room we were very pleased, a lovely modern room with everything you needed, including a luxury shower. We wandered across the bridge to town and returned a few hours later expecting to have a quick drink in the bar and returning to our room but staff were so friendly and the locals took us in, made us feel part of the group and encouraged us to enjoy our time, many hours later returning to our room with new friends who want us to return soon. After a very comfortable night and a lovely shower, we went down to breakfast, freshly cooked whilst you sit and enjoy a choice of cereal, fruit juices, fruit yogurt, hot drinks. The hot breakfast was so lovely. We returned to our rooms to grab our things, we found check out very easy and we set off home!

Although not in the nicest parts of town (overlooking Lidels and Screwfix )v, this hotel is really a nice place to stay. Our room was large and comfortable with excellent on suite facilities. Breakfast was very good and Stuart our host was very welcoming. Very good value.

Great location for strolling into Monmouth or walking the Offa’s Dyke path. We had Room 4 which was spotless and comfortable with a large rainfall shower. Nice and quiet despite being on a reasonably-busy road. Free parking and WiFi made it a very good value stay for one night. Lovely Welsh breakfast cooked by the owner Stuart with plentiful toast, coffee and tea. Would definitely return.

The Mayhill Hotel is one the friendliest hotels I’ve stayed in. The staff were helpful, welcoming and the hotel bar, restaurant and rooms were spotlessly clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the hotel and had an excellent breakfast on leaving in the morning. Thank you!

Stayed three nights at The Mayhill and were looked after very well. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were spotless and the showers were great. Delicious cooked breakfasts set us up for the trails and the location is excellent for a quick stroll into town for dinner.

Great host felt at home, very accommodating to our requirements, we stayed bed and breakfast, breakfast was good ample portions didn't need to eat again until evening, no food served after that but host gave advice on where to go to eat in the evening which was helpful and we took on board. Pub is shut during the day (at this time of year) opening at around 5pm, so we came and went as we pleased, we had a room above the bar but didn't bother us it was not noisy, we had a couple of drinks on the odd evening. Nicely located round the corner from the Offra Way walk and a few minutes to the bridge which connects to the Wye Valley Walk North to Symonds Yat a couple of hours and south we went as far as LLandogo (Cleddon Falls) 3-4 hours. Really happy we stayed here rather than in town which was busy.
