Visited on a Tuesday for the steak night, nice pub with a good atmosphere, bar staff very good. Ordered our meal which arrived promptly. Steak was very dry and food was not hot, asked for the salt on the table to be replenished which brought a very sarcastic remark from the waiter. Ordered sweets which when they arrived were wrong,...

We called into Wetherspoons on our way home from a local rock festival as is our habit. The building is great and very attractive. The food was typical of Wetherspoons. We regularly have breakfast in Wetherspoons all over the UK and I always opt for the porridge. Some Wetherspoons serve a more general portion than others which is odd. This...

Staff helpful, room good sized. some noise around 11pm as people left bar but otherwise quiet. Food okay - best at weekend, ideal position for Monmouth festival week overlooking town square. good value. There was a problem with a room just before we arrived and we were moved to a different one on the third floor (lift only went to...

We stayed in The Kings Head for two nights and I was very happy with it. It's a lovely central location and if you don't want to eat dinner in the restaurant there are lots of restaurants in town. The waitress on breakfast duty was absolutely charming, managing the bar and serving with ease and chatting pleasantly to guests. The...

Haven't been to spoons for a meal in a long time as i didn't used to find it very good, but called by on way home from newport, and was pleasantly surprised, you can sit in the bar area or a quieter room, which we opted for. We both had a gourmet burger and it was lovely, nice juicy burger,...

I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Next to the Shire Hall at the top of the town the King's Head always has a lovely floral display and looks like a real old fashioned pub. Course it's a Weatherspoon's now but coming from Australia it has that "old world" feel about it which is so appealing. The hotel...

We stopped off here on a very wet Friday for a pit stop. It is a grand building and well worth a visit. It has a couple of indoor separate rooms and a garden at the rear (a real sun trap when I returned the next day) It is as usual with Weatherspoon's very clean drinks excellent, and food delivered...

We went for breakfast on a dreary Monday morning . We were cheered up right away. The breakfasts were great. Especially the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. We had 2 mugs of Good coffee. The staff are very friendly and work hard. The special offer of lemon drizzle cake for 99p. Yes 99p looked delicious. The other offer was a...
