Terrific food, comfortable rooms and friendly staff, roaring fire - what more could you ask for? Good range of breakfast choices all cooked to perfection. Guest real ale available. The place is also clearly part of a lively local community.

We had a wonderful one night’s stay at this extremely comfortable Inn. The bar area is welcoming and cosy and we immediately felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The very friendly owners, Jonathon and Jackie greeted us and gave us the key for our room. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the rooms were with...

Called in for lunch(last visited 20+yrs.ago!) last week with the new dog. This is a friendly welcoming establishment run by professionals, lunch was taken from an interesting menu that did actually use top quality locally sourced produce, unlike many establishments today that use the "local" branch of Brakes! Well presented by enthusiastic staff, great portions and sensibly priced. Can be a problem...

This was a last minute booking as we needed somewhere to stay in the area. We have stayed before but in one of the rooms at the back. This time we had the gorgeous room at the front of the pub with an enormous king size bed. It's that beautiful one in the photos. We also had dinner, although we...

Very much enjoyed my recent visit to The Hand. My room was beautifully warm, the bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. I have been visiting the hand for many years and this was the first time I had been since the new owners took over. Unfortunately the member of staff that we first came across...

Great food- superb quality meat cooked to perfection. Comfy super king bed in simple country style room. Peaceful location - good night's sleep. We stayed for new year and although the food was great there was no recognition that it was for the New Year except for an £80 price per head and sorbet and coffee and chocs included. Either...

Hi Barbara, Thanks ever so much for your kind review and I'm really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Just one small point, we did serve Champagne and party poppers at midnight to all guests in the restaurant (and everyone linked arms and sang Auld Lang Syne) I'm not sure how you missed out on this as the...

What a terrific Christmas lunch we had today. The menu was exceptional and the execution of each meal was perfect. I've uploaded a pic of the menu so you can see just how mouth-watering it was. Really imaginative, to be honest and all local ingredients prepared to the highest standard. The welcome from the hosts was lovely, carols gently burbled...

Arriving late on a cold dark foggy evening it was delightful to find the hotel looking resplendant on the outside and find an equally warm welcome inside. It was quiet (week before Christmas) with only a few people in the bar and a few staying overnight. The room was very pleasant and everything thoughfully provided for a comfy stay. It...

Visited today 8th Dec. We were recommended here & we weren't disappointed, the food & service were excellent, I had the lamb dish & my partner had chicken & gammon pie, it was so delicious. We will be visiting again very soon, just stunning food and a perfect G&T I may add 😃🍸🍽

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hand is an ancient hostelry with all the attributes you'd expect - bags of character, a cosy, relaxing ambience and a warm welcome from your hosts, Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex. As soon as you arrive you feel the weight of the world dissolving as the surroundings work their magic. All the classic ingredients are here - old beams, roaring fireplaces, a casual mix-and-match of pine and oak furniture, real ale and good food. The latter is seriously good. Thanks to the talents of Head Chef Grant Mulholland and his team, The Hand is renowned for award-winning food, an inventive marriage of country fare and sophisticated metropolitan cuisine. The bedrooms, in a variety of sizes, reflect similar influences, with rustic decor and sparkling modern bathrooms. Country lovers just love the location. You can walk in the Berwyns for hours with only the sheep for company and the ever-helpful Hand can arrange many country pursuits, including horse riding, fishing and shooting. You may be away from it all, but you'll also be in the swing of things; this gem of a country inn is so much a part of village life that locals and visitors mix in unaffected harmony. ... more   less
