I was staying in the area in a cottage immediately round the corner from The West Arms. We did not have a table booked but popped in a little earlier before our time to ask if there were tables available. We were happily accommodated and asked if we wanted the bar or restaurant area. We opted for the restaurant which... More

Had a very enjoyable stay here in this romantic old inn. We stayed in the Eagles character room. A lovely large old room with exposed beams, a giant comfortable bed, uneven floors and doors and with a lovely large modern bathroom. The inn itself is very olde worlde containing many rooms where comfortable seating can be found. The dinner we... More

I was sorry to read these comments from one of our regular guests to whom I explained, the reason for the laps in our usually very high standard, which was caused by the local bus service going into administration at midnight the night before, without prior warning.Breakfast staff were consequently left stranded at bus stops, unaware that the usual bus... A small hamlet among the Welsh hills that manages to accommodate two excellent hostelries! Ideal for a quiet few days, walking the hills, enjoying the wildlife and savouring the views, with the guarantee of a splendid meal and a convivial bar to relax in. It is a four hundred year old building so the emphasis is on character and charm... More

I travelled with a group of 12 to Wales and had a night stay in the West Arms Hotel. When I did the booking online, the hotel requested my credit card no. and details and I'd pass this information to them for booking. When I checked out at the hotel, the staff requested payment for the 6 rooms we rented,... More

I was surprised and disappointed to read this review of The West Arms Hotel. On the day our residents checked out there was a genuine misunderstanding with the leader of the group. Having been in touch with him on several occasions by email since his departure I have been able to resolve this issue amicably which was a genuine human... More

Went for a Groupon deal. A warm welcomb from the staff at check in. Our room (15) was really comfortable and overlooked the garden. The food is superb and the dining room is a lovely room to dine in. It is a quirky hotel with a nice snug area with an open fire, and a bar area you can eat... More

My husband and I have just spent 2 nights at The West Arms. We really enjoyed it. The rooms are comfortable and clean albeit a bit quirky - but the property does date from 1600 so that is to be expected. The staff were most welcoming and the service was excellent. The were several beers and lagers on offer two... More

Great food and service as usual, the staff are always warm and friendly especially Ed who is quite a character. There are plenty things to do in the area, this time we cycled from Llangollen to Chirk on the canal tow path then visited the waterfall at Pistyll Rhaeadr the following day. Look forward to returning soon.

What a shame we didn't have longer , a really quaint pub after some wandering about we found a bar towards the back of the building with the most comfortable chairs and even before we had really checked out said chairs a most pleasant young lady asked if she could bring drinks to our table , what simply marvellous service... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The West Arms is a traditional Olde Inn (16th Century) with beams and uneven slate flagged floors, roaring open fires and low ceilings. It offers an abundance of warmth and charm with quirky individuality. No bedrooms are the same. We are a privately owned business with a wealth of experience, offer a friendly informal welcome. We have 15 bedrooms, a superb Chef who has a great pedigree, lovely friendly staff and are situated in a beautiful location. If you want a bland boutique modern hotel with a lack of soul, The West Arms is not the place for you! ... more   less
