Visited the town for the first time and decided to eat here. What a mistake. My husband ordered a cheeseburger for himself and a baked potato with cheese for me.Despite the 'hotel' or rather the pub, was not busy, it took an age for the food to arrive at our table. His cheese burger was huge and served with chips,... More

The castle hotel is a big place. It is on a corner and has lovely outdoor seating aswell, this is where we decided to have lunch, it is on a main Rd, but the use of umbrellas do give you a little privacy. The prices are a little on the higher side but the meal was beautiful. The only criticism... More

This is simply a pub on the high street with expensive rooms. My room overlooked the busy high street so having the window open in the summer is not an option. Even with the single old sash windows closed you can still hear the traffic .suggestion to management get some double glazing or aircon. The evening bar food was ok... More

This isn't a hotel, but a pub with room's above it. Despite being at the top of the building we were kept awake by karaoke until 12. Our room was fairly small and we had to keep the windows shut to keep the noise down (which didn't help much) Breakfast was nice, but staff not the most welcoming. If you... More

I needed somewhere to stay midway between 2 places & the Castle met the need. Comfortable place for a business visit (2 single beds) but I'd look elsewhere for fun, although the graduation stuff at Aberystwyth may have inflated prices & therefore my view. No car parking, although there is a free local car park. As it happened there was... More

We were make a trip through wales and passed Aberaeron. The Castle Hotel was well rated by AA and we enjoyed it. We had room 5, small, but clean and all you need. Highly recommend this place. For dinner take a walk of 200 m to the new celtic restaurant.

Stayed for one night and the positives definitely outweighed the negatives. Best points were the breakfast, the friendly/helpful staff, the location and the shower, the only downside was the room could probably do with a bit of an update/lick of paint.

My wife and I along with my 2 sons just visited for an evening meal. Food not up to scratch and the service was very poor too! And then I was asked whether I was paying by cash or card and was then asked for my card before I had actually been given the bill! I mean what's all that... More

I booked a room to stay at The Castle for a family celebration in early April. My father died unexpectedly several days before I was due to travel and I phoned and cancelled my booking. Several weeks later I discovered that the cancellation fee of £40 had been charged to my card. I wrote a quick email to question whether... More

We had a warm welcome when we arrived from Steve who was friendly and courteous. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good. It had a very lively atmosphere and our stay was very enjoyable. I really liked the fact that the hotel kept very high standards but still offered the friendliness of a good local pub.
