Nice lobby and very decent room. I tried to check in early, but was not successful. I tried at 9 am, no. Tried again at 1 pm, no. They said they would call me to let me know when room was available, but never got a call. I finally came at 315 pm, and a room was available. In their defense, check in was at 3 pm, but the process was disappointing. Also, asked one day for a change of towels and bed make-up - got the towels but the bed comforter was thrown on the bed. Also, staff were missing memphian charm.

Check in: Arrived in the evening on a Friday. Was able to check in immediately with a very attentive front desk representative. I felt bad that my check in process held up a guest behind me who just had a question as only one person was at the front desk but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition: No room upgrade was possible but this was not surprising to me as there didn't seem to be any better rooms for sale for my nights and it was a holiday weekend so quite busy. I was given a room on the top floor but quite close to the Peacock and Tiger Bar and even with earplugs was kept awake a fair bit. I really value quality of sleep and if I learned that this is a problem for every room in the hotel, I wouldn't return or be able to recommend it, but if I was able to be provided with a quieter return in the future, that would be good. 1,000 bonus bonvoy points and breakfast from the restaurant off the lobby. Ashley served me both mornings and was an absolute delight. The service was better than the food but the food wasn't awful. Tiger & Peacock Bar: The only really undesirable part of my stay occurred with the host stand of the rooftop bar. Even though my room was right next to the bar, I had to go down to the lobby to access it. I arrived a few minutes before opening time of 5pm and the gentleman was very nice about receiving me and advised at 5pm he would just need a few minutes to let in folks with earlier reservations. He took my name and room number and told me he would be with me soon and to take a seat in the lobby. At 5pm I watched others get called for which stopped after a few moments. at 5:11pm there was no activity in the lobby at all and I looked over to the host who had zero recollection of who I was and that not even 15 minutes before he had told me he was going to let me into the bar in a few minutes. Though this was rather small as far as misses go and certainly not with malice, it was also one that was unnecessary and had I not proactively wondered what was going on, it would seem I would have been kept waiting endlessly. The experience at the bar itself was much better. Angelo was just as lovely and sweet as Ashley. The food I had was basic but delicious - fries and cheesecake. I was a little bummed that the dessert I had my heart set on from the menu was no longer something that was served and the dessert menu had changed but the cheese cake really was excellent so that helped. At the end of my time I was permitted to leave through a different exit which led me right to my room. Check out was simple and efficient with no problems getting a rideshare from the front entrance. Assuming I could get a room in the future with an environment that gave a better quality of sleep, I would happily return and recommend this property.

We came to Memphis for a destination wedding. We chose the Memphian for a unique stay. We weren’t disappointed. The decor and ambience was lovely. The staff displayed the reserved grace I’ve missed in the northeast. Parking is why not 5 star

I stayed at the Memphian recently. It has it’s positives and negatives. The good: the hotel & rooms are decorated very nicely. It certainly feels like an upscale hotel. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. They have a LaVazza coffee/espresso maker in the rooms & the coffee was delicious. The shower has a big rainfall shower head. The bad: I visited the front desk twice while there and both times I was unsure who was actually working. Employees were sitting in nearby couches. When they did return to the check in desk, I was not treated with a “welcome to the Memphian” or a “hello, how can I help you”, but rather just a curt “last night”. My room (#620) was directly under the “Tiger & Peacock” lounge. For much of the evening my sleep was disturbed not only by the music, but mostly by the sound of the bar stools scrapping across the floor every time a customer sat down or got up (like nails on a chalk board at regular intervals for hours). When I checked out in the morning, the lady at the front desk asked how my stay was and I told her that I did not get much sleep due to the noise from the lounge. There was no apology or offer of restitution - just awkward silence. There were no coffee mugs in my room. I had to return to the front desk to get some and it appeared to be a great inconvenience for them to locate some coffee mugs for me. There was a big tumble weed of hair that rolled out of the bathroom when I closed the door. While the hotel is decorated lovely, I value a good nights sleep and good customer service over design. You might be okay staying here if you don't get a room near the lounge and perhaps the front desk staff will be having a better day. I personally will be staying elsewhere in the future.

Stayed one Friday night and were very disappointed. 1. Staff did not greet us despite being platinum elite members 2. Someone was in our room twice, leaving a light on and then leaving door open with deadbolt. 3. A dog was barking constantly next door, not on a dog floor 4. Staff not apologetic, reluctantly gave us another room, did not seem to care about safety or service. Staff acted like it was our fault! Also had loud vehicles outside. We travel a lot and understand labor problems but this was unsettling in regards to safety and service. Won’t stay here again despite the physical property looking good.

An extremely clean, secure and updated Marriott property with an eclectic feel. The roof top bar, “Tiger & Peacock” is an outlandish social bar. Not too loud; not too quite with awesome views of the area. As with everyone in Memphis, the staff are exceptional in their friendliness and service.

This is a new hotel in a great location. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite using our Marriott Points. At first glance, we were impressed with the furnishings. Then we realized we that the entrance is through the bathroom. The sink was on the right, the enclosed toilet was on the left with the shower stall, which was out in the open. No privacy. Weird. We were disappointed that there were no real glasses in the suite. Just plastic cups. We also didn’t have a useful clock radio. Just a battery operated one that didn’t glow on the dark. Really?? In a suite that goes for over $500? We were also underwhelmed by the “elevator guard” for the roof top bar. We asked just to ride up, take a look, and come back down. She told us they weren’t offering “tours”. Customer service at its worst. Would we come back? Maybe. We really enjoyed the pianist in the lobby, and the surface parking was convenient and reasonable. I’m just glad we didn’t have to pay for the suite. Overall, we had a better experience at The Fairfield in Princeton, WV the next night . ($140)

This beautifully preserved old hotel is a lot of fun the minute you walk in the door. It has wonderful art everywhere your eye falls, and the public areas are a delight, but the crown jewel is the rooftop bar with its great views, exceptional service, and crazy touches everywhere you look. Oh, and the drinks were to die for! Our room was comfy, quiet, and very sophisticated.

Traveling home to Chicago from a Florida road trip and decided to stop in Memphis for the night. Booked The Memphian hotel- SO HAPPY that I did it! The staff were VERY friendly and solicitous. We were able to check in early at 1pm. Janaya at the Front Desk was FANTASTIC! A wealth of knowledge and so nice! We booked connecting rooms (traveling with our older teen-age children) and the rooms were clean, updated and quiet! Mr. Pico, the General Manager assisted us with a small medical issue in front of the hotel- he didn't even know we were guests and he came outside to assist us! That is what I want in hotel staff- caring people who will give a little bit extra when needed! It was appreciated! There is a very cute area of restaurants, bars, shops on the same block of the hotel (less than a 1/2 block walk). We had great pizza at the Pizza Cafe and delicious homemade ice cream at Sweet Noshings. Cut through the back gated hotel parking lot and use one of the little alleys to reach this entertainment area- they are decorated with cafe lights, flowers, benches, painted wall murals- a great little atmosphere!

Hotel was chosen by business colleagues. Requested early check in (Marriott Ambassador status) & upon arrival at 11AM, was told no room available until 2pm. First time this year (50 stays) that I was told no room available. Lobby art work is very nice. When checked in, clean quite room. Nice bed. Problem was finding ride to the airport in the early AM- per hotel staff, because of location, difficult to find Uber/Lyft, & no taxi service. So, I had to scramble to find a private ride service. Checkout was easy, but first bill showed no charge (even though my credit card was charged). I had to call the hotel to obtain a bill with the correct charges
