$59 a night hotel room for $179. Its a tiny room, very spartan, and quite clean. The a/c and heat seemed to work but the cramped quarters were still clammy. I was scalded by the shower and kept up all night toasted by the bedding and the constant waterfall of plumbing sounds coming from the wall. Overall I would not recommend.
No toilet paper for a full day. Called repeatedly to desk with no answer. Mini bar empty. Only one elevator in service. Second has been down for months. Do not stay at this hotel. Bar area has a great view but is not very clean. Could be a nice hotel. Obviously in need of new management.
The staff are wonderfully friendly and the hotel is really cool. We loved the layout and decor of the room and the amenities are perfect. Very well located in the city, well within walking distance of the MUST SEE Civil Rights Museum and Beale Street.
My husband and I spent one night here this past weekend. We liked the vibe of the hotel, and our room. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was nice. I especially liked the mirror lighting - great for doing makeup. Hotel was within walking distance to Beale Street and other downtown sites. Our main complaint was that only one elevator was working, making for long waits or long trekks up the stairs (we were on the 8th floor). We wanted to check out the rooftop bar, but knew the wait would be too long for the elevator at that time of day, when many people were checking in. We snagged street parking so didn't have to pay for valet parking, which was nice. I would still stay here again, I just hope they can fix the elevator. It felt like waiting for an elevator in NYC.
Elevator out - long delays. Valet staff gave me a cart to take my luggage to my room upon arrival, and again when leaving. They didn't offer to help. Housekeeping didn't clean the room on Friday when asked to between 11 and 1 p.m. I had to fix the toilet flush handle. Staff acted aggravated that I was there. Cost $1600 for three nights - I you have service like Holiday Inn Express, price like it. Horrible experience - sad since the Madison was always a great place.
