The place looks nice. But! check in time is 3 and it’s 10... we went to check in and the clerk asked if we minded waiting because they were cleaning our room now. So that was 20 minutes ago. I told the clerk we would take a different room but she said she couldn’t. I think they are still working out the new hotel kinks.

Our stay at Candlewood Suites in Memphis East was okay, but was disappointed that even though we reserved a room with two beds, when we arrived, all they could offer us was one bed. The room was clean and comfortable, but there was no soap in the bathroom to wash your hands (only bottles of soap & shampoo in the shower attached to the wall.) Odd. There was a full size refrigerator in the kitchenette, which would have been nice if we'd been staying longer.

I booked the hotel through booking.com and it was listed as great and having exceptional free breakfast. I traveled 7 hours with my daughter and grandson only to arrive to a nightmare. Upon entry I was not greeted and did not get a good feel of the hotel. There were two women behind the desk and one had her coat on and seemed a bit rushed and the other was a younger girl. They were apologizing to someone in front of me about something. Although there was a fresh new smell in the lobby, I didn’t see an eating area. Before checking in I asked where would the breakfast take place and the girl kind of chuckled and with a weird look told me there was no eating place or breakfast at that hotel. I was told that the hotel wasn’t really Candlewood Suites, but Extended Stay although the hotel said Candlewood Suites. The lady left and told the girl to call her if she needed her. I left and went to the Hyatt.

Weekend get away for me and my wife. This hotel is right off the interstate and relatively close to everything Memphis has to offer. I was worried about interstate noise at first but it was a non issue once I fell asleep and I’m a light sleeper (I do carry a fan with me for noise cancelation so that helps too). Water pressure in shower was decent. Bed was comfy (even got to sleep in an few hours past our general wake up time). Hotel guests were limited it seems which help cut down on the noise level. Only complaint is the paper towel roll only had like 5 paper towels left on it and there was food (a carton of eggs) left in the fridge before we got there.

Owner lived below us on site... we get up early to go to work. I am a teacher at a 7 a.m. school and drop my kids off at daycare to be there by 6:40. The owner of the hotel heard our footsteps, even though we did nothing but wake up and get ready for work, and called the front desk to complain. When my mother went down to the front desk to ask to move rooms, the front desk worker put us out! Not family friendly at all. I have young children. The owner also sent me an email afterward to "follow up" insulting me!
