I splurged to stay at the Peabody while driving through Memphis. This place was amazing! So close to Beale St. Many fun things at the hotel so you don’t have to leave (ducks, tea, fine dining on my!) I purchased the dog package which included free parking and dog amenities to take home! Would stay again 10/10.
My friends and I had a wonderful trip. It’s location is great. The service was excellent, everyone made you feel welcomed. We will definitely go back.I highly recommend you stay at The Peabody. It’s an amazing experience.
So I’ll start with the positives we have experienced in our 5 night stay in an Executive Double Room: - the bedroom, lovely corner room, spacious, well appointed (ish), comfy bed - Mary the bar tender in Bar in the Corner, great service & lovely woman. - chez Philippe service excellent and food divine The above is why I’ve rated 2. Don’t think I’ve ever given such a low rating but as below service is chronic. And the issues: Service throughout the place is generally really poor from front desk on arrival to most other areas. I wonder if staff are really unhappy as we have never stayed in a hotel of this “standard” with overwhelming poor service and angry, miserable, slow service. It’s been an eye opener. Check in - we were asked did we want a lower standard room when we checked in as ours was not ready, no discount, why would we do that? Bizarre. Concierge - pre arrival, really unhelpful, arrival, very standoffish didn’t listen re questions. When Jack came in duty on day 2 he was much better. Bathroom so tiny, filthy shower head & overhead grate. Furniture dirty, behind bedside cabinets filthy No bathrobe or slippers, asked for some to be brought up, just one set arrived, mish mash, don’t think they are standard as they kept a getting taken and I kept having to get another one, weird. Bell man (not elderly gent) downright rude Not good room sound proofing with interconnecting doors and really loud door closures, so if you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs. No duvet covers, the duvet is wrapped in sheets that fall down so you end up snuggling a manky duvet, again really weird for this standard. Capriccio breakfast - front of house, it’s as if they don’t want you here. Would recommend you come in to see the ducks but use your hard earned cash to spend on a hotel other than Peabody.…
Don’t stay here UNLESS you want FABULOUS bedding, service, food, bar, AND location…if I could give 20 stars I would …you will never be sorry you chose the MAGNIFICENT HISTORIC PEABODY ..I promise…the duck are fun and a plus but also a pain b/c ppl who aren’t staying here kinda take over the lobby bar!
Having a person at the concierge desk that can smile and be polite is part of her job. I watched a vulgar young white lady with a foreign accent at the concierge desk when we were checking out be so hateful to an elderly guest that it made me sick. That was around 10;30 AM Sunday. He was asking about shuttle information and price. An older black lady helped us the day before but was not as knowledgeable as expected at a hotel at this level. Our bar experience could have been better. A young lady with long blonde hair had no smile, and when getting our drink, we had to stand to get it " I can't bend; I have drinks on my tray" So my husband, who just had kneed surgery, had to assist her twice? Between the rude young lady and the lack of essential functioning equipment in our room, I would not recommend this hotel again. The Peabody used to be a great place and is nicely maintained, but The South is known for Southern Hospitality, which was absent on our visit.…
A handsome and elegant hotel with comfortable rooms. Very near to Beale Street. Bus stop outside one of the and many entrances/exits. Trolley bus on Main Street two blocks up. Lovely menswear shop on the ground floor, Lanskys, who made clothes for Elvis. The ducks in the fountain were a delightful extra. Great breakfast and useful little coffee shop. Would have no hesitation in recommending and would stay again should we ever find ourselves back in Memphis.
The Peabody is nice and the whole operation is well run! The people outside doing the horse and cart rides with their dogs always said hello to us as we passed. The bar in the corner of the hotel has a nice ambience to it and is reasonably priced and the duck walk routine in the morning really brings out the big kid in us all!
Location was great to walk to the Memphis Grizzlies game. The hotel room we stayed in had stained carpets, bed sheets, curtains, and lamp shades. Totally disgusting. Lobby bar has a good vibe. Nice servers, horribly rude managers.
We go to the Peabody again and again because we love making memories with our grandkids there. It is a beautiful place and always an experience! We began going to the Peabody many years ago when our oldest grandchild was a little boy and have carried on the tradition that begain with him..with each or our grandchilden.
This is an awesome venue to disconnect from the day to day and be truly pampered. The staff puts serving you as a top priority. The atmosphere in the lobby is unique. You can’t have that experience anywhere else.
