Beautifully positioned about 5 mins walk outside of ‘downtown’ Inverie, the bunkhouse has everything you need. Large kitchen, cosy lounge, big shared rooms. Fiona the Manager really friendly and welcoming. Spot on.
We stayed after 3 days walking and wild camping. The showers were warm and had a good flow. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. There is spare food to use if you don't have enough. You can hire towels for a pound if needed. The beds are comfortable and there is a common room with plenty of books, maps, dvds and games for rainy days. There is a lot of information about the area provided in the bunkhouse.
Run by the community foundation, the bunkhouse has three separate dorm rooms as well as a large lounge, dining room and kitchen (plus a great drying room). The facilities are functional but good value for the price, kitchen was never that busy that you were waiting to cook even when the bunkhouse was full. Bathrooms had two (very hot and strong) showers for men and two for women, again never a queue or hassle using them. The drying room does get full when it was a wet day, but all gear dried overnight so no problem. Location is only a short walk from the main village and ferry pier, but also only 5 minutes from Kilchoan farm shop which has enough supplies for most meals.
We stayed for four nights. It’s spotlessly clean, staff are very welcoming and helpful, comfortable beds, the kitchen has everything you would need, showers are hot and there’s a cosy lounge with wood burner and good WiFi. Thank you very much to Fiona and all the staff.
