We stayed in The Hen Hoose with our dog (a Rhodesian Ridgeback). The Hen Hoose was perfect for our needs, comfortable, well equipped with oven, washer/drier, microwave and was roomy enough when our son, his partner and their dog came for a short four day stay with us. There is ample room in the field out the back to exercise... More

This was our first visit to Nether Barr. We went for half term week, 4 adults and 2 children and stayed in the Byre. The accommodation is spacious and worked really well with a nice living space, a split of bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard space or walking round to visit the... More

Very comfortable accommodation in a peaceful location. The accommodation is based in a courtyard setting which turned out to be a real sun trap the week we were there. I was quite happy to spend a couple of days taking in the sun before we got in the car to explore the area. Cycle/walking path brings you on a one... More

A large, inexpensive, comfortable place to stay just outside Newton Stewart. Convenient by car to the nearby national forest for hiking. Large comfortable beds, beautiful views, a full kitchen, wi-fi. Find your own breakfast, but this is much preferable to a small room above a pub.

Our 7th year back, Nether Barr Steading really is a home from home. We have stayed in 3 of the accommodations so far and each one is equipped with pretty much everything you need including comfy beds to flop into at the end of a busy day. There are great views to be had from each of the properties. Very... More

A last minute booking can often prove disappointing because you've not been able to find your ideal location - not so in this case. The design of the strafing means that although you have neighbours you all have uninterrupted views, and it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The views over the Cree estuary are fab. A spacious and clean cottage,... More

We booked the Hay Loft at Nether Barr Steading for a late break after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! The property was advertised as one single and one double bedroom, but what we were not aware of from previous listings was the size of the property. Much bigger than we expected. The upstairs runs for the length... More

We came to stay in July and were amazed by how lovely it is here and what good value for money it is. We stayed in the Bothy which has so much space for 2 people and everything that you need during your stay. There is also a table outside the backdoor and huge floor to ceiling windows in the... There were 10 adults and 5 kids in our group and we occupied The Byre, The Hen Hoose and The Hay Loft. All rooms were modern and recently renovated but they all kept the old country charm. There were views of the fields and it really made you feel at home in the countryside. The couple who ran Nether Barr... More
