Ordered a salad sandwich which took 25 minutes to prepare and serve as well as having the waitress double check the order. Salad Sandwich came without bread, butter, salt or pepper. On the plate was some sliced lettuce - the heart thrown beside it, grated cheese with the end lump thrown beside that, a warm soft boiled egg, lumps of...

Ok, it's old fashioned, but I think that's it's charm. It's refreshing being in a hotel that isn't an identikit chain. Everywhere is clean and a lot of the public areas have beautiful touches that hint at the history. Our loch view room was a great size (although the view of the loch is over the police station and disused...

We had coffee and cake at the Apline Bar which overlooks the hotels indoor curling rink ! Not many places can boast that ! Wow what a feature. Such a great way to spend an hour or so... A real credit to Stranraer...

Room was clean, double bed with Duvet. Nice friendly staff always wanting to help when they can. I stay there requently so have experience of a number of rooms, all are always clean. Wi Fi has improved considerably which is important to me. Meals are well cooked, tasty and plenty of variety

We stayed in the North West Castle Hotel for 2 nights as a break just after Christmas. The hotel is dated but seems to be well looked after and maintained. We had a problem with the heating on our second night which the staff resolved by putting a heater in our room while we were out. We didn't eat in...

Bathroom was old fashioned but clean! Went for a quick bar meal, my wife and I got the burgers and the kids got cheesy paste. My...

Stayed at the North West for one night on business working in Stranraer, it's my third visit here. Previous comments are correct as to it being in need of a facelift etc. but the hotel is quirky in its early 70's guise. The reception staff are very good, the rooms have everything needed for a comfortable stay, had a great...

We stayed here after an unexpected stop off in Stranraer on our way to Belfast with the kids. I have to say i'm sure the hotel once was amazing, but it appears to have been forgotten in time, not only is it dated but it's old and tired. Bedsheets and pillows feel like they've been used from the day the...
